A proper coaching philosophy contains principles which improve character development, teach step by step tactical and technical skills, form proper progressive physical training regimens, and carefully utilize team management to handle and control problems with administrative issues. A coach with a sound philosophy should mold a team with strong cohesion, and he should treat players not only as teammates, but as family and friends who are encouraged to develop communication and lifelong learning of skills through positive support and role modeling from the coach (Mergelsberg, 14-15). The philosophy should also contain written documents of implemented strategies and techniques, so that the coach will know what to improve upon season by season
Holistic based approaches aim to restore wellness, as well as preventing illness by addressing the mind, body, and spirit. Holistic approaches use ancient techniques, like acupuncture, Ayurvedic medicine, and homeopathy for mind-body healing (Vlieger, 2007).
Holistic Medicine, commonly referred to as “Alternative Medicine”, is a vast and rapidly growing new scientific field. It is derived mainly from ancient, traditional methods of healing that have often been practiced in the East for centuries. These include a variety of techniques from herbal healing to acupuncture to homeopathy to energy channeling. Due to the large number of methods that are covered by the term, there are various definitions of Holistic Medicine. However, all literature seems to agree that Alternative Medicine, is exactly what the name suggests: an ‘alternative’ approach to healing and medicine. It is a more personal move toward health care, which attempts to connect the mind, body and spirit.
When someone hears holistic nursing their mind may immediately jump to a form of hippie nursing with little to none scientific background or accuracy in the quality of care. This belief however is extremely inaccurate as to what holistic nursing really is. Holistic care can be defined as to when the nurse honors the patient’s wishes and takes into consideration the social, physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the patient’s life (American Holistic Nurses Association, n.d.). Holistic nursing is growing in popularity amongst patients because of its open communication between nurse and patient, its unique approach to health and healing, as well as the comprehensive care it can provide.

Many hospitals around the U.S. are currently offering holistic methods of care such as Sharp Healthcare in San Diego. The services offered there include; Acupuncture, Arts for Healing, Clinical Aromatherapy, Guided Imagery, Healing Touch, Holistic Healing, Massage Therapy, Qigong, Reflexology, and Yoga. All of these methods allow patients to receive an alternative intervention for treatment of conditions such as; anxiety, pain management, and stress. All of these are known conditions to negatively affect the healing process (Sharp, 2014). With all the diversity in the United States it is typically not the easiest task to adhere to a large population of differing preferences. With the implementation of holistic approaches to care, outpatient care, home health, physical therapy services, and many other ambulatory care settings can further align services with the ...

Telephonic coaching is a means used by both patients and insurance companies because this is one way of keeping the patients healthy. Leeder (2014) believed that private health insurances are providing additional services, such as telephone-based coaching, to encourage the patients to have a healthy lifestyle who are at risk of chronic diseases. Considerably, meeting the needs of the people requires a change in how insurance companies deliver health services. Instead of providing services episodically, the use of telephonic coaching creates a system of continuing care which involves both the hospital and community support. Further, patients are able to absorb new information when they are talking to that person providing

My organization has a very aggressive and fast paced work culture. In this environment, there is a notable inclination to focus more on results and to stay ahead of the competition in terms of delivering new and innovative services before competing organizations offer them. Given these changing dynamics and the extreme orientation to the end result, it is only fair to say that a coaching mindset does not naturally fall in place in the company, and that a conscious attempt needs to be made to understand and practice the values in this form of leadership, thus enhancing the chances of success even more in its business.
My ethical and moral views, beliefs, attitudes and values have been fashioned by an up bringing that centred on Christian beliefs. Even though religion was not forced upon me as a child, my mother raised us all with a strong sense of right and wrong. Along with the influence of my family, the Navy has had a big influence on the person I am. The Navy has a strong ethos of what is expected of the personnel that serve; this is made up of the following: Leadership, High Professional Standards, and Courage in Adversity, Determination, Loyalty, Mutual Respect, Discipline, A Sense of Humour, Teamwork, and A Can Do Attitude. Most recently of all though, the biggest thing that has influenced me as a person and a parent has been my experiences of working with young people. This includes acting as a Youth Advisor for Portsmouth City Council, a Mentor for Barnardos and a Youth Advisor for East Sussex County Council. I am currently working in two secondary schools as part of my resettlement from the Navy. This has given me the experience of working with young people living in virtual poverty, in constant trouble with the Police and education services and some young people with varying levels of disabilities. This work has given me a good ability to stay impartial, to be non judgemental and has given me a capacity to treat people a lot more emphatically than I was ever able to. This is because I have been exposed to a greater range of problems and personalities than I have been used to in the Navy. These are qualities that I will hopefully be able to transfer into my coaching practice.
