The Hitler Youth
What can become the most powerful thing if manipulated and brainwashed at a young age? Well Hitler knew the answer and knew the importance of them for his 1,000 year plan. The youth was a significant part of Hitler's reign, as once the kids have been brainwashed by all the propaganda, they will follow and obey all of his commands without hesitation.
The Youth was an important asset to Hitler’s as they would complete his 1,000 year and help the Nazis last forever. Kids were taught what Hitler wanted them to know and not what he wanted them to know so once after a few generations,

After a few generations this would create kids and parents that were never going to question the fuhrer and make them completely oblivious onto what they are being taught. This helped with the war effort against basically everyone. This made the children obedient, as they were taught what Hitler wanted them to know and nothing that he didn’t want the children to know. They were forced to celebrate Hitler’s birthday and were forced to swore allegiance to him. The children were also taught that Germans were the ultimate race and that the other races and Jewish people are weak and should be crushed. The teachers where all people from the Nazi’s and were only males, the teachers even encouraged racism, and making fun of the disabled and other people with problems. They even made it seem like the Jewish people did terrible things like communism, destruction of important buildings and landmarks and even that they were terrorist that they are just bad and evil people over all. Everything from children's books to the classrooms have been changed to emphasize strength and not to pity the weak. The textbooks have been rewritten to teach them militarism, anti semitism, and to obey the fuhrer. All this taught them Nazi Ideology so the Third Reich will last forever. The boys and girls that were German citizens and healthy at the age of 10 - 18 years were required to join the Hitler Youth program. The boys from the age of 10 - 13 were put in the German Young people and then once they were 14 they would be in the Hitler Youth until 18. They both did a wide range of physical activities from biking, swimming, to even doing religious practice. The boys were to trained to become the best soldiers they can be for Germany, and also taught business skills. The were also taught how to shoot, boxing, and fighting. The boys could 60 meters in twelve seconds. Also the boys were required to enlist in the armed forces once they come of age. When the time came for the Youth to fight, the kids were fearless and did not fear death and people on the opposing team did not want to kill the kids. The girls of Germany where to be the mothers of Germany. They were supposed to provide a lot of “perfect Aryan” kids for Germany and they were also taught good homemaking skills. Propaganda used before the Holocaust convinced teenagers to join auxiliary groups like the Student’s League and Hitler Youth. Hitler convinced adults to join auxiliary groups as well, apart from the main Nazi party. Helmuth decided to spread his views on the way the Nazi Party deceived and manipulated the Germans. Righteous Acts Throughout humanity, human beings have been faced with ethnic hardships, conflict, and exclusion because of the battle for authority. Hence, in human nature, greed, and overall power consumes the minds of some people. Groups throughout the world yearn for the ability to be the mightiest. These types of conflicts include ethnic shaming, racial exclusion, physical and verbal abuse, enslavement, imprisonment, and even death. Some of these conflicts were faced in all parts of Europe and the Pacific Region during World War II.
Germany was now being led by Adolf Hitler, a high school drop out who aspired to become an artist and was strongly anti-intellectual. Before Hitler, German universities had been considered some of the best in the world, but under Hitler’s rule, many young people living in Nazi Germany where very hard behind their peers from other western countries. Western education became secondary to teaching the youth mysticism, speculation and collective thinking toward a common goal and of course, the pursuit of a glorious future for Germany.
The setting was perfect as the people of Germany were primed and ready for any leader that would tickle their ears with what they were wanting to hear. World War I was over (#4) and the people of Germany were in an economic depression that crippled the country. The German mark had lost so much value that it took a wheelbarrow full of money to buy a loaf of bread. A good portion of the youth in Germany were raised in fatherless homes. In an article written by Dr. Alice Hamilton, she says this about Hitler's youth: "They were children during the years of the war when the food blockade kept them half starved, when fathers were away at the front and mothers distracted with the effort to keep their families fed. They came to manhood in a country which seemed to have no use for them. Even compulsory military training was no more and there was nothing to take its place" (Perry et. al 358). Hitler, being the sleazy opportunist that he was, capitalized on this state of affairs. In ways that were not politically correct, he was able to influence this segment of the population and hold them in allegiance to his agenda. "Hitler made each insignificant, poverty stricken, jobless youth of the slums feel himself as of the great of the earth, since the youth was a German, a Nordic, far superior to the successful Jew who was driven out of office and counting house to make place for the youth and his like" (Perry et. al 359). The life of a child in the 1930-1940 was not an easy life not if you were a Nazi, not if you were Jewish. These Children lost their childhood because of a war. Their shattered childhood creates stories that seem horrific to us today. Life as a child growing up in a Nazi family is probably easier than dealing with the problems that the Jewish children have. However, every Nazi child had to sign up for the Hitler Youth. The Hitler Youth was an organization to discipline young minds and preach to them about anti semitism. Hitler Youth was one of the largest youth groups in Europe at the time if parents did not have their children in it they would face fines or have charges of imprisonment. The Nazi regime brainwashed the kids, they made them aggressive and intolerable. In the group there was even a small ‘Gestapo’ that would make sure all the children were doing the correct task if not the ‘Gestapo’ would report this. The youth of Germany were an important target for Hitler. He knew that if his dream for the thousand year Reich were to be fulfilled he needed the loyalty of the young German people. But how did he obtain that loyalty? How did he set about bending the German children’s hearts and minds to his will?
Introductory Paragraph: Propaganda is a tool of influence that Adolph Hitler used to abuse the German population by brainwashing them and completely deteriorating an entire race. How does one person get the beliefs of an entire country? Hitler put Joseph Goebbels in charge of the propaganda movement. Goebbels controlled every element of propaganda, there were many varieties of Nazi Propaganda. Propaganda was also being used as a tool to gain the support of the German population for the war, and supporting their government. The Jew’s were the targeted race and were completely pulverized by the Nazi’s. Hitler not only tried to destroy an entire race, he gained complete control of an entire country.
Techniques Used by the Nazis in Converting German Youth to the Ideals of the Volksgemeinschaft
After Germany lost World War I, it was in a national state of humiliation. Their economy was in the drain, and they had their hands full paying for the reparations from the war. Then a man named Adolf Hitler rose to the position of Chancellor and realized his potential to inspire people to follow. Hitler promised the people of Germany a new age; an age of prosperity with the country back as a superpower in Europe. Hitler had a vision, and this vision was that not only the country be dominant in a political sense, but that his ‘perfect race’, the ‘Aryans,’ would be dominant in a cultural sense. His steps to achieving his goal came in the form of the Holocaust. The most well known victims of the Holocaust were of course, the Jews. However, approximately 11 million people were killed in the holocaust, and of those, there were only 6 million Jews killed. The other 5 million people were the Gypsies, Pols, Political Dissidents, Handicapped, Jehovah’s witnesses, Homosexuals and even those of African-German descent. Those who were believed to be enemies of the state were sent to camps where they were worked or starved to death.
As Hitler rose to power, he created many organizations within the Nazi Party. The groups were for many different people, including teachers, doctors, civil servants, women, lawyers, and students. The organization for students was called Hitler Youth, which became a very important part of Nazi Germany from its creation in 1922 to its disbandment in 1945. In the Hitler Youth, the German children were taught that they were better than everyone else. They were also taught that since they had Aryan blood, they were the master race and were the only ones that should be able to live in Nazi Germany. As Hitler was rising in power, his plan all along was to “make Germany better,” as he thought he was doing. In his eyes, making Germany better was everyone being equal. He wasn’t going to hesitate to take the first chance he could to jump on the Jews. He would act on any little reason he could. A German official was assassinated in Paris and Germans were angry because it was in the hands of a Jewish teenager. It gave the Germans a chance to attack at the Jews (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum). There were a lot of unnecessary laws passed that were meant to take away the Jewish peoples happiness. For example, they had a curfew of 9:00 pm and 5:00 am in the summer, and 8:00 pm and 6:00 am in the winter. Kristallnacht, or otherwise named, The Night of the Broken, was like a turning point for the Jewish people that started off the Holocaust (American-Israeli Cooperative Enterprise). Hitler made a lot of laws like the one stated above and continued to do so to try and get a reaction out of them.
During World War 2 there was a movement from Adolf Hitler to make use of the generation to come. He wanted the youth to grow into strong individuals that would promote his ideals and passionately die for them, if necessary. I have chosen to research more into this youth movement. I want to find out more about the Hitler Youth. How it began, how it developed, how they were managed, as well as its ultimate demise nearing the end of World War 2 are all facets I would like to know. Let’s begin with the first showing of a youth movement in Germany.

The Success of Nazi Policies Toward Education and Youth Hitler and the Nazi party had a range of policies to control education and the German youth. This was mainly to ensure loyalty to Hitler and the Nazi party. Some believed in these policies and other did not but it was fear and glory and the fear of social inadequacy that made most comply. Hitler and the Nazis wanted to control the education system and youth by controlling the teachers, pupils and the curriculum.
