Introduction
I was watching Minnesota’s NBA team when it hit me. I was trying to figure what I should do for a topic on my I-Search paper. Kevin Love was shooting a triple and I knew that I had found my topic; the history of the NBA. I knew that the NBA had an interesting history and that it was one of America’s most popular professional sports leagues. I was aware that there would be endless resources on the topic, so I decided to pursue the history of the National Basketball Association. I was thrilled that my topic choice came so effortlessly and I planned to make my paper go in a similar fashion. By the end of my research, I was hoping to be an NBA Historian.
What I Know
The National Basketball Association is a basketball league that has a schedule that lasts from the late days of October all the way until the middle of June. As I was watching our very own Minnesota Timberwolves, I couldn’t help but think about all of the factors that play into the NBA. I have been extremely interested in the NBA since I was a young boy. I have always known many facts about the NBA, such as the names to all 30 teams and that they all play an 82 game regular season, but I’ve always had the desire to know more. The National Basketball Association has always fascinated me and that is the case for much of the population of the United States of America. I know that facts on the NBA will be endless and perfect for an I-Search paper.
What I Want to Find Out
I’ve always wanted to know more about the history of the NBA. I do know about facts and other miscellaneous numbers about the past NBA, but I would love to find out about the origins of the association and also who founded it. I am a person that likes to know statistics and records and that is...

At the end of his career, Jordan had won five MVPs and ten scoring titles to go with his six NBA Finals victories. “Michael Jordan was the best player in the NBA’s history,” my dad told me, “He did it all; he scored, played defense, passed, and was a clutch performer.” Msn.foxsports.com also stated how Jordan’s talen attracted fans, “He entertained with his aerial exploits, awed with his competitive fire and charmed with his extraordinary charisma,” (msn.foxsports.com). However, there were other notable players in the Jordan Era as well. Patrick Ewing of the New York Knicks, John Stockton and Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz, Hakeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets, and a young Shaquille O’ Neal for the L.A. Lakers. In the end, the 1990’s were ruled by the extremely popular basketball player known as “His Airness”, Michael Jordan.
