For six weeks I taught the kids the basics of improv and theater. At the end of the program, I put on a showcase that presented what the kids had learned over the past six weeks. Included improv games, dance number, prepared monologues.

Yesterday night I reviewed the play “The Miss Firecracker Contest” In Wilmington, North Carolina at Big Dawg Productions. The play started out as Carnell Scott, 24-year-old orphaned southern girl who lives in Brookhaven, Mississippi. She is tap dancing in her room with a purple leotard and some kitchen utensils used as creative batons practicing her routine for The Miss Firecracker Contest.
On March 31, I had the pleasure of seeing Hello Dolly at Mandeville High School. As a talented theater student at the school, I take the shows that are put on very seriously. Being involved in the show, helping make set pieces, and working at the box office brings light to me as an individual, every little helping hand counts. I want to make sure that my school represents theater in the best way possible. With this production put on, I am proud to say that I am a theater student at Mandeville High.
In this area of theatre i have learned more about brainstorming, character position, the effectiveness of music, the effectiveness of light and at what darkness and more about character goals and character formation both physical and vocal.

On a Wednesday night I saw Texas State Theatre and Dance Department's performance of A Chorus Line. The main plot of the musical entails the audition of 17 dancers for several Broadway roles on the chorus line. However, during their auditions the director Zach asks for personal stories of each dancer's life. Though the plot of this musical is seemingly simple in its twist on the traditional audition, it explores themes that reveal the human experience, the search for individuality, and the sense of self.

A theatre play can be described as characters acting out a scene that they have memorized and brought to life. In improvisation, there is a character that is played out but not in the conventional sense. The characters play within the setting and do not memorize scripts but instead act according to the circumstances. which makes improvisation appealing in that aspect. Viola Spolin makes these points very clear by presenting the Point Of Concentration. Keith Johnstone believes that improvisation occurs through status placed with one another. Each author has their way to go about improvisation, both, however, make important contributions to the art of improvisation.
This hidden small theater underneath St. Marks Place showcases eclectric improv acts every Tuesday night. Abundant inspirational artists head over to perform their acts. There will be no shortage of extraordinary shows for audiences to enjoy.
After lunch at Ruby Tuesdays, we went to the matinee show. The show was closed captioned, audio described, and had American Sign Language translators performing in front of the stage. It also was attended by three hundred high school students from around New York, not just DA. The show featured some of the best dancing I’ve seen on Broadway and a combination of fun, concert-style songs and ballads that helped move the plot along.

However its origins mainly lie in the early years of the last century. I’ve learned to appreciate the beauty of how theater is more than a mere performance, but rather an artform with nuance and depth. My knowledge on theatrical styles has expanded and some of my favorites we have studied in class are Brechtian and Chinese theatre styles. I grew up participating in musical theatre, but never had the opportunity to truly learn the history and details of the craft. After studying RENT, I am inspired by the various possibilities for theater beyond acting, singing, and dancing. Theater can be used for activism or as a form of commemoration. Theater is relevant by communicating issues to the world. Theater is so much more than a dramatic presentation. The given stimulus was “Little Red Riding Hood - Physical Theatre “ in which I was immensely intrigued. Quite simply, physical theatre can be described as a form of theatre that puts emphasis on movement rather than dialogue. I thought that we should certainly use aspects of physical theatre but it was important to not purely use physical theatre but to include other dramatic elements too. As soon as possible I decided to brainstorm different physical theatre aspects of Little Red Riding Hood. After reading an article on the underlying meaning behind Little Red Riding Hood I learnt that we should incorporate gory detail and hyperbolic actions into the devised piece and amplify the levels as the piece develops.
