When thinking about the subcultures that existed in my high school I first wonder what the term subculture means. It is a group within society that is separated by its different values, norms, and life styles (Ferris, p.86). The different subcultures also known as clique that affected each student differently when I was in high school were the ones that emulated similar cultural standards making it more likely for certain students to become friends and more likely to inspire the same aspects of their attitude, behaviors and dress with in those cliques. The behaviors of the cheerleaders, jocks, preppies were that of the rich they felt they were better than the rest of us because their family had money allowing them to get the newest item which also entitled them to be in the popular groups. The rednecks behaviors were completely country they were down to earth individuals who dressed and talked hillbilly and came from lower social status usually. The Goth’s behaviors were depressing and dark whereas the nerd’s behaviors were that of the teachers pets because they were the smart kids and knew everything. The skaters and hacky sack kid’s behaviors were laid back whereas the loaner’s behaviors were quiet and you barely knew they were there. The special education kids had two groups the ones that were left behind in their education making learning difficult or the IEP students and the ones that were mentally handicapped and acted odd. The partiers and easy girl’s behaviors were just that they partied too hard and were too easy to attain. The band and chorus geek’s behaviors were musically inspired either by voice or instrument. Just like the drama kids behaviors were out there because they could act out being other peoples with other emotions. ROTC peeps behaviors were that of the army strict and demanding. The Manga and Anime buffs behaviors were that of another country specifically Japan. Finally, the Christians behavior were god loves every
