High school is said to be one of the most important times in your life; where you will make lasting memories before you go to college. For most people, this probably includes going to football games on Friday nights. I am not an exception to this. I loving going to football games and hanging out with my friends, but I have missed more than a few of those games, including the last game of my senior year. I was busy preparing for Saturday. On that day, I would run the last cross country race of my life. It was the state championship. As I stood on the starting line, I looked out upon a scene that will be forever branded into my memory. Mud and water substituted the grass which made it seem as if there was no cross country course ahead but
The bus rolled into the parking lot. Then it parked and the doors cranked open. One by one in a single file we exited the vehicle. We had arrived-we had arrived at Thompson Park. On any other day Thompson Park isn’t that big of a deal to me usually. But today Thompson Park was the place where the Central Jersey State Sectional Meet was being held, and that was a huge deal. The Central Jersey State Sectional Meet is a Cross Country meet is the first of two qualifying meets to get into the State Championship Meet. When I stepped off of the bus the sound of cheering and cow bells erupted into my ears. This was a very large meet so the races had already begun. Along with the noise came the smell of the fresh and crisp fall air, as well as the food from the food vendors. You could smell french fries, hotdogs, and other fatty foods, all of which we couldn’t eat before our race because it would slow
I remember, freshman year, I was scared, none of my middle school friends went to my new high school, and I didn’t know anyone. I was a shy girl and had been shoved out of my comfort zone. So as the weeks and months went on I made only "school friends", basically just acquaintances you meet and only talk to in school. Eventually soccer season came around, and of course my dad convinced me to continue playing as I definitely did not plan on putting myself out there like that. Not only did playing soccer on my high school's team introduce me to my best friend, but I've met some of the best people, made memories I'll never forget, and learned extraordinary lessons I couldn’t have learned any
Freshman fifteen is the NEW EPIDEMIC!!.. or not? In the eyes of freshman, college can be seen as entering the lion’s den when transitioning from high school. Students routines, diets, and moods drastically change resulting in an imbalance of one’s well being. As a way to cope college freshman typically look towards food for a release. Therefore, this is where the term freshman fifteen was born. Freshman fifteen is the idea that in one’s first year of attending college, the student will gain fifteen pounds. On average students are gaining weight at an abnormal pace however, it is not exactly the amount that the media has portrayed.
Growing up is not an easy thing to do. You have no idea what is going on with your body, your emotions change at the drop of a hat, and you sometimes wonder what the point of life is. However, what you do know is that Mercer is planning a party after the game Friday night and you need to be there. This is the way I seem to remember high school when I think about it for a brief second. However, when I sit down and actually give it some thought, I realize that there is so much more about those years I have forgotten about--all of the little things that happened to everyone everyday and those major events that seemed to change my life. Everything that went into making us All-American kids.
The problems that you hear about high school football are not made up and they happen at almost every school. It is hard to get away from but at my school everything was three times harder. You would think we could catch a break but we never did. We were so bad that we even lost to a team who had a smaller roster than we did. If you ever played football you would know how hard it would be to go through the hard times that I did. But, it is not the end of the world. Everyone says high school is the best time of your life, which is true, but once it is over everything seems to get better because the high school drama is over. I was so glad to have ended my senior year because now that I am in college I do not have to worry about the hard times I went through. Always cherish the good times but never forget the bad times because if you do not learn from the hard times them history will repeat
As I went into high school I decided to quit football as I thought it was much more fun to hangout and watch the varsity games than to participate. I had many friends throughout high school. I was always having people over and throwing parties. One of the highlights of high school for me was getting my permit and then my license. It allowed me to be free and ...
Throughout my entire life I have made a collection of many fond memories. Of those fond memories one in particular sticks out, my senior year during baseball season. I have played baseball since I was six years old and my senior season was by far the best of them. Memories were not only made on the field but also off of it, making us not only teammates but brothers. The memories I made with that team will forever be implanted into my mind and something that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
As a freshman in high school, I had nothing else to do with my life but study. My grades were extraordinary, I was awarded the principle honor roll every year and the National Honor Society was inviting ME to join THEIR club. School became so easy to me. There was a loop whole to passing every class, you just had to find and adhere to it. But at this point, I was craving something different, something that would test me mentally and physically. Because of that, I decided to take part in my high school’s football team. Ever since I made this decision, I believe it turned me into the man I am today. Football is a very passionate sport and you have to play with your heart on your sleeve which why I fell in love with it and became a part this community. It allowed me to voice myself and pushed me to achieve my goals. There is no embargo on how you can feel. Taking part in this discourse community not only develops a strong mental and physical will, but it also taught me life lessons like manners, how to be a leader, and how to be resilient when adversity hits at a young age.
To me high school is an open door, into my life. I have had a lot of memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life. If I could I would like to thank high school. I would thank “it” for making me who I am today. It shaped me in a wonderful girl and was a big stepping stone in my life. High school has not only given me memories and made me who I am. It has brought many friends into my life, brought me my lovely significant other, educated me, and kept me in shape. Thank you, Bentworth Senior High School. I will miss you
Being a senior to me means more that just one thing. It means my last ten football games, senior project and, graduating. It seems like yesterday that I was in eighth grade watching my brother play football on the same field I am now. Back then being a senior in high school seemed so far away that I never took the time to think about it or anything. Now that it’s here I wonder where the time went.
It was also fun to go to high school football games with my family. I always had a cousin or two playing. I would sit as close to the field as possible. The competition that the sport brings out was amazing. Fans as well as players and coaches would do almost anything to have their teams win.
My Favorite high school memory’s was with volleyball team one especially was when we were going to states. This was the year we had all our best veteran volleyball players we had the coach's son himself Evan Feltz, who I saw as a different breed when it came to volleyball, to me no one could jump as high as he could or hit as hard as he did. Then there was the man that delivered the greatest passes I have ever seen the Lebron games of volleyball his name was Jack this guy was born to play the game physically he was even structured for volleyball he had hands as well, we can almost say he was perfect setter. We also had a great middle like mashup part time football player and volleyball player for like three or four
The past four years have been fun and easy for some and a struggle for others. When I reflect on my high school experience, I think of watching football games, playing softball, homecoming weeks, school trips, parties and time with my friends. Others have spent their time in drama, band, community service, part-time jobs and all sorts of other activities. We have all watched Mr. LHS grow along with us until it became a big part of the high school year. I enjoyed laughing with and at the guys as they showed off their talents. This year’s homecoming football game was one of the most exciting ones we have had, with four quarters and three overtimes when we beat Jackson 48 to 42 for a homecoming victory. No matter what types of experiences we have had, I think they are important to remember and grow from.
I have wished if I ever have a chance going back to high school again, I will not miss anything and either focus on studying. However, there will be just one high graduation; there will not be many other high schools' graduations that will make me realize that I need to live life to the fullest while I can. As I can almost remember that day as it was yesterday, I awoke like on any other school days. It was a beautiful June morning, I sluggishly dragged my limp body out of my warm bed, walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth, be dressed, and fixed my hair.
Yes, I regret not going to the football games, basketball games, and any other sports events in high
