As of today, people have generally realized that the high school role is very similar to the college role and they both play a large aspect in the generalization of modern day school. Therefore, when a student decides to choose a school, the method is long and very tedious. They acknowledge every class offered and every sport available along with every extracurricular activity. However, a lot may compare and contrast high school with college. The aspects they grasp on people is not a secret and very important. Anyhow, the methods used to educate these students are very similar to each other although the differences are great such as the facilities they occupy and the extracurricular activities each offer. At a high school, there are many things to offer such as auditoriums, lunch rooms, computer labs and science labs. Along with these things sports are offered too, among those sports are basketball, soccer, baseball, football and various running sports. While students benefit from these extracurricular activities there are rules to be obeyed such as the school dress code and cell phones are not permitted during school hours. While in college it is a little different, you get treated like an adult and you have a bit more freedom. College students take advantage of this freedom of roaming and exploring the campus. For example, college kids can freely take out their cellphone without it being taken up at any given point in the class. “In high school, your day is typically planned for you, including where and when your classes meet and what time you eat lunch. College gives you significantly more freedom in building your schedule and choosing how to spend your time” (Kori Morgan). Along with extensive freedom offered at the college level there are other things offered as well, like sports fields, theatres and concert halls most of those things are unheard of in high school. Whether college kids are in class they could easily be hitting the books hard in libraries or just relaxing in the campus café. The choices are endless in

Both of these works display two brave men withstanding the worst race extermination in history.

Two people could be living two very different lifestyles, yet they could be very similar in the way they act and react in the same situation. Charlotte from “The Metaphor” by Budge Wilson and the Mother character from “Borders” by Thomas King live very different lives but the way they deal with the problems they are faced with is very similar. Both protagonists have to deal with trying to be forced to be something they are not by society and their families, but Charlotte from “The Metaphor” has been challenged by her strenuous home, she must face her organized mother and orderly home; the Mother from “Borders” must stand up for what she believes in and fight for what she wants.

This novel depicts a totalitarian world where there are no ways to use freedom, express free though, or express individuality, but there are various sources of brainwashing propaganda. The Party’s slogan ‘war is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength’ is where the brainwashing process in Oceania begins. Brainwashing and government control are also crucial elements in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. In the world of Panem, 1 boy and 1 girl are chosen from each of the 12 districts to fight to the death. The game’s slogan ‘may the odds be ever in your favor’ shows the Capitol’s usage of doublethink. These slogans are used by the ruling groups as propaganda and show one of the similarities in how the governments brainwash, torture, and control the past of their people.
My daughter Myla Jane and her cousin Braelyn Jade are different in appearance and attitudes, yet are the same in the things that they enjoy and their daily routine of everyday life. When you look at the two girls, you can’t tell by their looks that they would be anything alike. Although they are a lot different in looks, they do share similarities. When seeing these girls at a back-to-back view, the only things that you would find to be similar are their enjoyment of the same things and their routine they follow throughout the day.
Mark Twain is known as a genius for his writing, comedy, and his genius as a satirist. He effectively demonstrates this with his excellent use of the satirical technique of reversal in “The War Prayer” and the satirical technique incongruous juxtaposition in “The Political Candidate”. Twain also effectively uses imagery and satirizes the naivety of the audience to convey his thoughts and feelings about church in “The War Prayer” and his tone on politics in “The Presidential Candidate.”
In response to the works of writing I’ve read in chapters 19-26, each poem has a subject matter relating to the title of the chapter. Each chapter has its own theme brought into the works, but each piece of writing I’ve read told its own spin of the subject creating it’s own theme. In the paragraphs below, I will compare and contrast the difference between the themes they all portray. I’ve chosen to limit myself to only poems, because I feel that the little that is said makes it easier for me to grasp an image to what is being said and also helps to build the story more in my mind.
Some people think that if they could only change one aspect of their lives, it would be perfect. They do not realize that anything that is changed could come with unintended consequences. “The Monkey’s Paw” by W.W. Jacobs and “The Third Wish” by Joan Aiken both illustrate this theme. They demonstrate this by granting the main character three wishes, but with each wish that is granted, brings undesirable consequences. The main idea of this essay is to compare and contrast “The Monkey’s Paw” and “The Third Wish.” Although the “The Monkey’s Paw” and “The Third Wish” are both fantasies and have similar themes, they have different main characters, wishes, and resolutions.
In highschool, a student does not really have much freedom, high school is kind of like a jail. A student has to be in class by a certain time, and if he/she is late, he/she can get in an enormous amount of trouble. For instance, if a high school walks into class five minutes late, and his/her teacher is not very nice, that student is most likely going to receive a referaal and a detention. A student in high school only has roughly two to three minutes between each class. However, in college the environment is not as strict. There is a good amount of freedom at college. There are breaks between classes anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. During these breaks, a person does not have to stay at school. "Although there is freedom in college, likewise to high school eventhough a college student will not get a referral or detention the student 's professor does seem to get mad if a student is late consistentaly and will take a point or two off his/her participation and effort grade, if he/she happen to have one of those not so nice professor 's."(Personal Interview)
To begin with the similarities, College and high schools have many things in common some things that include: Grading system, core classes, and academic routine. The grading system for the most part is the same. A test in high school is worth about sixty six percent of the overall grade, and daily work is only worth thirty three percent of the
SEASONS, THEY HAPPEN ABOUT THE SAME TIME EVERY YEAR. Everyone has a favorite season it could be fall, winter or any other season. For me I like fall the most because the weather is not too hot or too cold. Fall is a favorite season of mine because of young life, marching band, and the trips I get to go on.

Even though some think that these levels are almost the same, there are significant differences between them. The cost of high school is not the same as the cost of college. Academic writing consists of many types of writing such as proposals, formal essays, informal essays, lab reports, comparative essays, and etc. With so many types of academic writing out there, some may question whether it is truly necessary to have so many optional types to choose from when writing. Although there are so many types of writing each one functions to convey what the writer is trying to explain or convey different. A lab report conveys the hard data and facts from experiments that a scientist documents to support their hypothesis. A proposal highlights the advantages of an action to convince someone else to follow through with that action. Both of these different types of writing achieve their own unique purpose to fully bring out the worth in the writers words. Although these two are important in academic writing, comparative essays are one of the most useful and basic types of academic writing that can be used in college and anywhere else.
One way to compare and contrast high school life and college life is student population. The population in college far exceeds high school enrollment. In high school the average number of students is seven hundred fifty and in college the average number of students is approximately seven thousand. Also, in college the authority figures are less visible than in high school. In high school, teachers restrain the students in all activities and events. Where as, in college the students are given more freedom to control themselves. Another difference is, in high school the hours are set in block form with no flexibility because the schedule is set by administration. College classes are more flexible because students get to choose what hours during the day they want to attend a class if an alternative is available.
