HST 140: Assignment 3 In the long history of the world, thousands of leaders came to power one after another. During 600-232 B.C.E., some emperors left good reputations and were admired by people, such as Ancient Persian king Cyrus the great (600 – 530 B.C.E. (Dandamaev 1989, p. 71)) in central Asia, Ancient Scythia king Scyles (around 500 B.C. E.) in ancient Greek, and Ancient Indian emperor Asoka (268 to 232 B.C.E (Thapur (1973), p. 51)) in India. Some of leaders were forgotten or even reviled by posterity, such as Nazi leader Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany (1889-1945 A.D.) This essay would discuss the reason why those three emperors can be admired through analyzing their personalities, and explain why Adolf Hitler had opposite endings compared …show more content…
As an emperor of a big empire which contained Eastern Europe and central Asia ("The Scythians". history-world.org.), he could have shown his authority and his dignity. However, he chose to show his gentility and modest. Famous Greece historian Herodotus admired Scyles’s gentility in his book “Herodotus”: “he would always leave his army outside the city, but he would enter within the walls and lock the gates. He would then take off his Scythian robe and dress himself in Greek apparel. He would walk among the inhabitants, unaccompanied by any bodyguards.”(7: P105) As a emperor, he could have shown his strong military power, but he chose to leave his army outside the city to avoid civilians generating unnecessary fear; He could have shown his empire’s authority, but he chose to change his clothes to express his respect to other states’ traditions; he could have shown his personal authority through showing his strong bodyguards, but he chose to walk alone. Therefore, Herodotus admired him not only for his authority and power, but also for his gentility and …show more content…
People admired them not only for their great achievements, but also for their kindness and moralities. Nobody can leave good reputations by only showing their power and authority. Adolf Hitler was a crazy leader who almost conquered the whole Europe (World War II in Europe, 1942.svg), but he was reviled by posterity because of his atrocities and his genocide policies (Shirer 1960, p. 965). The reason why Adolf Hitler had opposite endings compare to the other three emperors is he only show his authority and cruel, and he never show his mercy and kindness. Now, our political leaders need to take lessons from those past leaders. If they want to leave good reputations in history, they need to remember that they can’t act like Adolf Hitler who only relies on power and authority; they need to remember that only kind leaders could be admired by
To sum it all up it Hitler did not have an exactly positive or happy life with a rough upbringing killing Millions end, in the end, himself with all this he certainly no inspiration but in the end, you still want to the most famous people in
Julius Caesar (100-44 BC) was one of the most outstanding leaders in history. This paper will offer a commentary on Herodotus’ Histories 2.129-135. Book Two of Histories concerns itself with Egypt; specifically chapters 99-182 detail rulers of Egypt both legendary and actual. Book Two is distinct from the other books in Histories as it is in this book that we predominantly experience Herodotus as an investigator. More precisely it is in Book Two that Herodotus treats first person experience not as direct evidence but as a method of assessing the accounts of others. Chapters 129-135 provide us with the tale of King Mycerinus as recounted by whom Herodotus refers to in 2.127 as simply ‘ÆGYPTIOI’. These Egyptians are referred to at various points in Book Two and at times appear to refer to what might be termed ‘Egyptians in general’ . However, we can make a reasonable assumption in this instance, given what has been stated before at 2.99 and what is stated later at 2.142, that the Egyptians that provide Herodotus with the tale of King Mycerinus are probably priests. It should not be assumed that priests are any more reliable than the lay Egyptian in Histories however; the Egyptian priesthood did not necessarily concern itself with historical accuracy. Indeed the inclusion of priests may simply be a Herodotean literary device designed to reinforce his reader’s credulity.
Hitler had a lot to do with Germany and he was remembered but not because of anything positive, but because he was one of the worst coldhearted dictators Germany or the world could’ve experienced. My view and Topic is worth consideration by the reader because it will inform them more about Hitler’s actions in 1933 and so on.
For a character to be an epic hero, he must possess four characteristics. These four characteristics include the following: (1) he must be high born, (2) the hero must have human weaknesses, (3) he must be brave, and 4) he must be clever. In The Odyssey, Homer’s character Odysseus was an epic hero because he possessed all four of the characteristics.
Adolf Hitler came into the lime light as a man with a totally reputable objective and the antidote for poverty in Germany after the war. Hitler actually seemed to be living up to his word as he rebuilt the country and so Germans gave his more and more power.
Imagine a world where if the Senate did not like the President, they murdered him. In some years there would be up to five different rulers in a year. What would it be like to have murder mixed in with the craziness of politics? How would your life change if people were murdered by the Senate because they did not like the person? This was the way of life in many ancient empires. Murder was a just a way of life in ancient Rome. The Roman Senate would be so fed up with losing power that they killed several Emperors. However, there were five good emperors in a row who became known as The Five Good Emperors. These Emperors were Nerva, Trajan, Hadrian, Antoninus Pius, and Marcus Aurelius. They were mainly considered good for gaining the support of the Senate (Encyclopedia Britannica). After gaining the support of the Senate, these Emperors brought in and improved the tradition of adoption, doing different public works; the way they died also showed many truth about how these Emperors Ruled.
In Titus Livius’, The Early History of Rome, Livy takes on the task of documenting Rome’s early history and some of the famous individuals who help contribute to the ‘greatness’ of Rome. Livy dedicates an entire portion of his writing to describe the reigns of the first seven kings of Rome; all who influence the formation and governance of Rome in some way. However, of the seven kings in early Roman history, King Romulus and King Numa Pompilius achieved godlike worship and high esteem from their fellow Romans. While both highly important and respected figures in Rome’s history, the personalities and achievements of King Romulus and King Numa Pompilius are complete opposites of one another. Despite the differences found in each king and of their rule over Rome, both Romulus and Numa Pompilius have a tremendous influence in the prosperity and expansion of Rome in its early days.
Julius Caesar was a strong leader of the Romans who changed the course of the history for the Roman world decisively and irreversibly. With his courage and strength, he created a strong empire and guided the empire for almost 20 years. His life was short, but had many adventures. I will tell of some of this man’s remarkable life. He did many things, therefore, I will only discuss a few. His name, part of his reign, one of his greatest battles, and his death will be told.
Emperor Nero, infamously known as one of the most malevolent, oppressive, and tyrannical leader throughout history, was the last ruler of the Julio-Claudian Dynasty. He was born outside Rome in Antium and his mother married his great uncle, Emperor Claudius, in order for her son to be the next Emperor of Rome. It wasn’t apparent that her son was to become one of the most feared and cruel leaders in Roman history from 54 CE to 68 CE. By examining his achievements and failures as an emperor, his influences and changes over the entire economic, political and social spectrum are revealed.
...tler is a prime example for this. He was a brilliant man who knew how to speak eloquently and persuade a nation into transforming a government into a dictatorship. He was also able to gain Germany’s support for World War II and unfortunately, the genocide of the global Jewish community. Chancellor Palpatine and Adolf Hitler seem to be very much alike. Both men had the knowledge and power to manipulate people to achieve whatever they desired. Both men’s lust for power is what led to their corrupt. Their desire for absolute power is what made these men evil and a threat to liberty. I hope that the world will be able to learn from the past and prevent another corrupt politician from coming to power again.
During the beginning of the Nazi development. Nazis made posters to shape the Hitler regime legitimacy. The poster shows that there are leaders from different periods. It puts Hitler with emperors in parallel, such as king, prince and marshal, which meaning is that to convey the German militarism and the supreme spirit of leader. The title specially emphasizes the identity of Hitler, who was a soldier. Although the soldiers’ status below other three leaders that can highlight leader’s strong volition and personality

As you can see, Adolf Hitler is one of the most influential figures of the 20th century because he killed millions of Jews trying to perfect humanity through the Holocaust, his reign and military leadership of Germany lead to World War II, and his efforts of world domination influenced history forever. Used brutal methods to wipe out the jews. Used his military power to start WWI. His efforts lead to many changes that still influence our world today. Outcomes from the war still exist today such as the controversy in Israel, the creation of the United Nations, and the awareness towards protecting people’s rights. Hitler’s reign of power in Germany resulted in many horrific incidents; but we used his actions as a way to better our world by preventing people like him from coming into power.
Centuries later and the name Adolf Hitler still rings volumes till this present day: discussed in history books, talked about amongst intellects and commoners alike, and despised by many for years to come. Upon hearing his name many may think of all the negative things Hitler has done, but few fail to analyze just how one man created such controversy amongst a nation without being stopped. The question then lies how does a man reign over country and devastate it for years to come? Adolf Hitler, a man who excelled in persuasion and charisma was able to reign over Germany for years. Born in Austria April 20th 1889, Hitler grew up with many hardships in his life.
