Most of us hate when we have to go to the doctor to get a shot. I wasn't the type of kid that it would take 20 nurses to hold me down so I could get one shot. I was one of the people who very frightened of something going into my body. I know it's an irrational fear, but I hated the thought of something going into my skin. Then I made a great discovery, if I relaxed it wouldn't hurt as much. This helped a little bit but, not enough, so my mom being the loving person that she comes up with an idea that had one of my favorite things on earth a hedgehog. A hedgehog pretty is much a mini porcupine, so my mom said that getting a shot hurt about as much holding a mad Hedgehog bare handed. When a hedgehog is angry, they usually go into a little tiny
ball and make a puff and when they puff they go into a ball of quills. So my mom made up a story about my sister was holding a hedgehog and then the Hedgehog puffed right on my arm. When my mom said that the hedgehog puffed the nurse gave me the shot which was like the Hedgehog puffing. So when it was time for the shot I was sitting in the chair, trying to relax, (so the shot didn't hurt as much). I was sitting there just cooling my heels then the nurse came into the room with the tray, and I got scared. Then my mom told me we're going to have your sisters friend over who has a hedgehog after we're done here. So then my mom started the story, you're sitting in your lap when quillow (quillow a hedgehog) came over to see what I was up to. He got a little too close, and I move my arm back then quillow puffed, and the nurse gave me a the shot, and I didn't cry, and it felt a lot better. Afterward, I got to hold a very mad ball of quills as my reward. I still don't understand why I like hedgehogs but there just so cute. When I had to get my next shot, I just sat there, and my mom didn't even tell the story I just sat there and got my shot no problem.
It was very painful, but the pain got worse when he had to find the bullet. When he finally found it and tried to pull it out it hurt twice as much. The pain just wouldn’t stop. The pain was unbearable. It was the worst pain that i have ever felt.
The gorillas live mainly in coastal West Africa in the Congo, Zaire, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon. Gorillas live in the rain forest. They usually live on the ground but build nest in trees to sleep in. Gorilla troops keep a 15-20 square mile range which often overlaps the range of other troops. There are three different kinds of gorillas. The eastern lowland gorilla the western lowland and the mountain gorilla. They are herbivores and eat only wild celery, roots, tree bark pulp, fruit, stems of many plants and bamboo shoots. They spend nearly half their day eating.
“Vaccinations are causing a major upsurge in childhood diseases, adult maladies, and even deadly ailments such as Gulf War Syndrome and Lou Gehrig’s disease” (Blaylock). Every now and then an individual’s doctor calls telling them about the latest vaccine they should receive. The person immediately schedules a time to come in and get it done. But do they even give a second thought about it? Have they ever thought that maybe they do not need another vaccination? Many people have not taken the time to seriously think about the process of immunization. The truth is, there are many dangers that the average person should be unaware of. Rarely do vaccines actually accomplish what the public has been told. In fact, a lot of vaccines contain harmful substances that have been linked to disorders such as autism. The lack of education and dishonesty from doctors are putting people in danger of health problems without even realizing. Many parents feel obligated for their children to get vaccinated because of school, not knowing they have the alternative option of refusing immunization.
The two toed sloth or Choloepus didactylus, belongs to the Mammalia class and can turn its head two-hundred and seventy degrees. That almost the way around! There are many more facts of the fascinating creature, the sloth.
The one concept that I feel is most significant in this week’s reading would be the Hedgehog Concept, simplifying a complex world into a single organized idea/principle that guides everything else.
The simple injections have potential to save thousands of lives every year and they are making the world a safer place. Vaccines can help create an environment where children are not receptive to disease which would have taken lives in previous decades, and for the general population to be healthy, and to keep children safe from illness and disease people should vaccinate themselves. Throughout my research for vaccinations, I didn’t realize the many stances parents could support. I knew previously before researching that many parents didn’t agree with the idea of giving their child a vaccination that could possible cause an issue that wasn’t present before. Although, I always supported vaccinations strictly because of scientific facts; when I read about the many reasons why parents didn’t it was a shock and ultimately overwhelmingly disappointing. Mainly, because it seems like parents are only looking at the few effects vaccinations could have on a child. Overall, I believe that everyone should be vaccinated, not only to help themselves but to help the public from outbreaks that can easily occur if the anti-vaccination movement continues and makes
Should people be allowed to keep Pit Bulls as a pet? I hear this being debated all the time. I hear on the news how states have banned this dog. Its sad, the dog has done nothing wrong. I think its the owners fault, the dogs were raised to fight. The dogs don't know any different, they had to fight to survive.

A simple shot, or series of shots, can prevent you from having a lifetime of pain or even prevent early death. Although many people fear shots, a quick shot is better than a lifetime of pain or being crippled or sick all the time. It can also prevent a premature death.
The American people have rights, and one of those rights is to decide what we want administered into our bodies. I think it is very important to educate others on the risks of vaccines so that they can decide what is fit for them. I also want to bring awareness to the difficulties people face to keep vaccines out of their bodies and their children’s bodies. It should not be a struggle. We have rights to our own bodies and we should not be treated any differently for choosing not to vaccinate. I do not get the flu shot, nor do I get every new shot thrown my way by doctors, and I am perfectly healthy. In fact, I rarely get sick. I depend on natural immunity and other natural means for my health, and that works great. (“Vaccines ProCon.org.”) Barbara Low Fisher, Co-founder of National Vaccine Information Center, stated, "If the State can tag, track down and force citizens against their will to be injected with biological products of known and unknown toxicity today, there will be no limit on which individual freedoms the State can take away in the name of the greater good
Forced vaccinations, a topic of controversy facing our nation today, are vaccinations that are required to be received by the government. Many of the vaccinations required are for severe diseases and infections such as tetanus, chickenpox, influenza, measles, and polio. These diseases are correlated to be some of the most threatening around the world. Most of those vaccines are given to people normally when they are children. Numerous parents disagree with letting their children receive vaccinations due to some of the risks involved. Possible side effects of vaccinations include fever, rashes, body aches, and sometimes death. Many of these, however, are very rare because of the increase in science technology. Parents that stand against the vaccination of their child put not only their own, but other children in the community
Unlike Pia, I did not break done in tears imagining harm on another human being. I did not feel as if I was using a gun to shoot somebody; I was using a gun for sport, and it was fun! The adrenaline rush was intense and trying to shoot accurately was a fun task. The first few times I shot I missed the black target. I presume this was because of my shakiness and fear of the gun, but as time went by I began to shoot more accurately.
Not only are we not allowing our body to build an immunity on it’s own, but we are also traumatizing our children by making them receive shots on a routine basis. There are many reasons that vaccinations should not be mandatory, but the most important are the number of vaccinations, ineffectiveness, and side effects. The number of vaccinations a child receives, in the first six years of his/her life, has increased dramatically. According to “Vaccine Controversies” by Kathy Koch, “Today, an American child receives up to 39 doses of 12 different vaccines, most given during the first two years of life. And, unlike in previous decades, today’s youngsters are given multiple inoculations on the same day” (643).
According to World Book Advanced Encyclopedia, immunization is defined as the process of protecting the body against disease by means of vaccines or serums (Hinman). While medical science backs up the efficiency and necessity of vaccines, within the past decade, a rise in parents disbelieving the medical community and neglecting to immunize their children has occurred. This “fear of vaccines” is nothing new, but with the ever-increasing safety of vaccines, the benefits of inoculation far outweigh the risks. Parents who refuse to vaccinate, or anti-vaxxers, put more than their children’s lives on the line, but also risk the safety of the whole community. Because vaccines are essential to protecting individuals and communities
