The article also mentions the name of different diseases that are likely to occur due to low social economic status. In addition, the article does not only point the negative health outcome, but it also mentions and discusses poverty eradication and early childhood interventions and parental support (Wise, 2016). To begin with, the article discusses certain diseases that are as a result of childhood social economic status. The child health community needs to reduce severe poverty by offering full employment and minimum wage initiatives for the parents. Public education infrastructure is another way of intervention; this is because it provides social support to young families in poverty through different strategies such as strengthening child care. There is a need, to develop antipoverty programs. One of the antipoverty programs to make children access supplemental nutrition assistance program, hence reducing chances of future diseases caused by poor nutrition. I chose not to use any of the prompts provided, but instead connect the article to what I learned in my sociology class lass quarter. In class we watched part one of film series of Unnatural causes, titled Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making us Sick "In Sickness and in Wealth". While reading the article this reminded me about the cases studied in the film to see whether wealth inequality contributes to making people sick. In the film they focused on the social determinants of health, wealth and education. In both the article and part one of the film Unnatural Causes they focused on three different individuals and how their health are affected by they choices they make and the access they have to care.
Poverty has many influences on children under the age of 16. The research fined out that in recent year, an increasing number of children become poor, live under the poverty condition- childhood poverty lasted 10 years or more. So, what does the poverty exactly mean to children? According to Brook-Gunn and Duncan, The kids who live in the poverty condition have the low quality of schools; more likely to have domestic violence and become homeless; less access to friends, services, etc. (Brooks-Gunn et all, 1997) That points out the disadvantage and how the family income influence youngsters overall childhood, since under the poverty condition, they children do not have enough money to support for their necessary needs, they will more likely to have low self-confidence and hard to blend in with their peers. Poverty has impact on children’s achievement in several different ways. Payne (2003) maintained that the poverty could affect children achievement though emotional, mental, financial, and role models (Payne, 2003). Thus, the children from low-income family are more likely to have self-destructive behavior, lack of control emotional response and lack of necessary intellectual, that is really important for the students under the age of 16. When one thinks of poverty often the mental picture that comes to mind is of single parent welfare, dependent, women and unemployed, drug-addicted, alcoholic lackadaisical men. The children are often forgotten. The impact of poverty, the destruction of crime and stigmatization of the violence on the children is more devastating and irreversible than the miseducation and illiteracy that most often companies poverty. Many people do not realize that there are tens of millions of people in America who are living in poverty because they are stuck on the fact that America is one of the richest nations. People who are living in poverty barely have enough money to survive on basic necessities like food, shelter and electricity. They often have a hectic schedule filled with work, school, or other activities that they have to do in order for them to live a somewhat stable life. Unfortunately, there are others who are living in poverty that may be ill or disabled and barely able to survive even if they are receiving money to help with their situation. There are a few programs that help those in poverty with their financial problems, but they only help them to a certain extent. Changes need to be done to help alleviate the poverty rate because these people should not have to deal with all of these hardships or have such a negative perspective of life. Therefore, America can reduce its poverty by raising the minimum wage, making health care more accessible, and by making child care more affordable. These solutions will be a great start to reducing poverty and they will lead America into a brighter future.

One of the most important things is to have a unified definition of what poverty is and national plan working towards the removal of child poverty, for if there is more than one definition of poverty it is hard to measure the progress of a nation (Sharma and Ford-Jones 2015). Another major influencing factor is economics. In 2005 a UNICEF study found out that there is a direct correlation between high government spending on social benefits and lower child poverty rates, as exemplified by the Nordic countries (UNICEF 2005). However, the study also found out that government spending has more to do with policies and the allocations of funds, believing that many countries have the possibility of getting child poverty below 10% without a major increase in spending (UNICEF 2005). Poverty is prevalent throughout the world around us. We watch television and see famous people begging us to sponsor a child for only ten dollars a month. We think in our own minds that ten dollars is only pocket change, but to those children and their families, that ten dollars is a large portion of their annual income. We see images of starving children in far away countries, and our hearts go out to them.
