The article on “Child Poverty and the Promise of Human Capacity: Childhood as a Foundation for Healthy Aging” by Wise 2016 is very effective because it has clearly pointed the relationship between childhood poverty and the negative health outcome and attitudes toward aging that extend later in adulthood. The article also mentions the name of different diseases that are likely to occur due to low social economic status. In addition, the article does not only point the negative health outcome, but it also mentions and discusses poverty eradication and early childhood interventions and parental support (Wise, 2016). To begin with, the article discusses certain diseases that are as a result of childhood social economic status. Children are poor because their parents or guardians are poor as well. The child health community needs to reduce severe poverty by offering full employment and minimum wage initiatives for the parents. Public education infrastructure is another way of intervention; this is because it provides social support to young families in poverty through different strategies such as strengthening child care. There is a need, to develop antipoverty programs. One of the antipoverty programs to make children access supplemental nutrition assistance program, hence reducing chances of future diseases caused by poor nutrition. Another way is to offer housing vouchers so that the children accompanied by their parent can move from concentrated poverty areas to lower poverty areas.
