The main focus of a Healthcare Administrators in a hospital setting is to make certain the hospitals mission of serving the community is met. What people fail to know is the contribution is not enough to cover the actual cost the hospital provides. Hospital Administrators are faced with uncompensated care cost from both patients and payers. This is the sum of the hospitals bad debt. When it comes to reimbursements from government insurer like CMS (Center of Medicare and Medicaid Services), hospitals receive low pay rates, lower than the cost of what the hospital provides. Healthcare administrators must find ways to offset these expenses, while expanding their healthcare services in areas where they can serve more patients (Mike Freel, 2010). My approach will be to locate each hospital cost type that is expected or required to incur other sites and providers of service are not. Payment methodologies should be created to sufficiently support each of the cost types without pushing to overuse or under use
Kaiser Permanente’s mission is to provide care assistance to those in need. As a health maintenance organization, Kaiser Permanente provides preventive care such as prenatal care, immunizations, diagnostics, hospital medical and pharmacy services. Also, they take responsibility and provide exceptional training for their future health professionals for better clinical performance and treatment for the patients. The organization is to ensure fair and proper treatment towards their employees for a pleasant working environment in hospital and to provide medical services especially in a growing population in suburban communities, such as Tracy and Stockton in California.
The government controls and regulates healthcare somewhat because healthcare organizations are in a position to take advantage of the elderly and sick so there are regulations that protects them. It seems as though healthcare facilities are being paid less for their services today. Some critical measures for the survival of a healthcare organization are to optimize performance and quality. Finding system-wide efficiencies and cost reduction healthcare will help. In order to get better and keep high quality and performance while still raising reimbursements, it is necessary and important to involve doctors with the ideas and plans for any management strategies.
Due to WellStar being a multi facility health system, its organizational design is constantly being reviewed for simpler and more efficient processes. WellStar’s two smallest hospitals, WellStar Paulding and WellStar Douglas, previously under went reconstruction with regards to their hierarchical structure in Patient Access Services (PAS). WellStar Paulding, the smallest facility of the five hospitals, renovated their managerial chain of command in PAS. WellStar Paulding’s patient volume is less than half in comparison to the 4 additional hospitals. As a result, their staff is smaller and only requires minimal supervision. Professionalism can be defined as the competence of skills and principles of an individual in a profession. A professional must be knowledgeable in their profession, committed to improvement of one’s knowledge and skills, service oriented, covenantal relationships to patients/patrons, creative, innovative, ethical, accountable and a leader. These competencies are essential for a professional to perform and excel in their profession.

The real problem with the health care system in this country is not just the people running it but mainly the massive pit of debt it is continually digging. America spends around 17%, which is about $2.5 trillion of our GDP on health care alone! It is safe to say we spend nearly more than any other country out there.
