So the famous person I chose is Harry Hawk. He is an actor and a comedian. He is mostly known for his acting career. Harry Hawk was born on April 28, 1837. He died at the age of 79 and on May 28, 1916. He is mainly know for Lincoln's assassination. So I will be telling you more about Harry Hawks life. His family moved to Chicago when he was young. He began theater as a call or stagehead at McVickers Theatre in Chicago. After 2 years, he went to work for John E. Owens at the Variety Theatre in New Orleans. The first stage role he got was in 1859 when he was at the age of 22, in The Little Treasurer. When he made his way back to the north, he was with the onset of the American Civil War. By the early 1860’s, he was appearing in billed roles
including, for example, the role of Mark Meddle in London Assurance, and Davy in the Phantom. Harry Hawk acted for over 40 years. He was acting and managing Laura Keene’s company in 1873 when she had a hemorrhage while performing, and died a few months later. He struggled after Laura Keene died since he worked for her. Harry Hawk was lead role in the play, “Our American Cousin” on April 14, 1865. During this play in Act 3 Scene 2, he was alone on the stage, he delivered one of the more funny lines of the play. Those were probably the last lines Lincoln heard. So these are all the things I will tell you about Harry Hawk. This was all about his life and some of these things are interesting because just thinking of all the things that he took role in. Even though he may not be the famous person in the world, he is still famous for and a little of acting and being a comedian.
