Harriet Tubman Hero Characteristics

There are multiple things that make Harriet Tubman a hero for the past, present, and future. A hero is someone who is willing to do whatever it takes to help people and/or things surrounding people. One thing that makes Harriet Tubman a hero is she isn’t afraid to get caught or take risks. Another characteristic that defines Harriet Tubman as a hero is she is determined to do what she wants to do and she doesn’t give up. Harriet is a very influencing and promising.

The first characteristic that shows Harriet Tubman as a hero is that she isn’t afraid to take risks. In the book on page 182 it says, “None of them would be safe as long as he was with them.” Then it goes on to say on page 182 paragraph one, “Harriet said they would not go without him.” This proves that Harriet was willing to take the risk of still taking Joe even though people could easily tell who he was and possibly get all of them in trouble. Also, in the book it says on page 94 paragraph 1, “She might die on the way, because of those inexplicable sleeping seizures”...”She might fall asleep in plain

view along the road.” This explains to you that Harriet had a problem where she could possibly fall asleep and get caught, but that didn’t matter to Harriet because she wanted to escape.
The second characteristic that shows Harriet Tubman as a hero for the past, present, and future is she is determined to do what she wants to accomplish.

In the text on page 98 paragraph 3 it states, “Sometimes she stumbled over old grapevines, gnarled and twisted, thick as a man’s wrist, or became entangled in the tough, sinewy vine of the honeysuckle. But she kept going.” This shows that Harriet had troubles on her way but since she was so determined she kept going through those struggles. On page 100 paragraph 3 the text states, “She had been concealed in a haycock, and had, at one point, she spent a week hidden in a potato hole in a cabin..” Then it goes on to say on page 101, ‘“ I looked at my hands to see if I was the same person now I was free.” This shows that she had to be hidden in a various of places in which she didn’t want to be but even though she didn’t wanna do that, it gave her

freedom.
In conclusion, Harriet is a great hero to all people in past, present, and future. She has done many things to help other people like her and that’s what makes her unique. Harriet Tubman is a hero because she has no fear to do things that may put her at risk. Another reason Harriet is a hero is because she is determined and has the ability to keep going on with what she’s doing without turning back. Yes, Harriet has done some bad things in her journey but that just shows that everyone makes mistake even people who are trying to help others. Harriet started something huge not only because she helped people but also because she started something that made other states realize that slavery is not right and she possibly started something to help all of her kind.
