People use stories all the time, people tell stories for a living, it’s a writer's job to tell stories and they get paid for it. Like in Haroun and the sea of stories, stories are a huge part of Rashid Khalifa’s life, his job is to tell stories for politicians to earn the people's vote. Like in Haroun and the sea of stories, stories are entertaining, inspiring, and help people, they’re very important in life. The adventure was to find a antidote for rashid to tell stories again. In Haroun and the sea of stories there was a politician that wanted Rashid to tell a story for him, his name was Mr. Buttoo. But Rashid told a story that made the politician look bad, and that caused everyone to storm the politician out of the city(Rushdie 106). The people in the crowd said, “Mister Buttoo-go for good; mister Buttoo Khattam-shud”(Rushdie 106). People can learn from stories and do something good with them. People sometimes don't realize what’s happening around them and like in the story, stories can open their
A good story is one that isn't demanding, that proceeds from A to B, and above all doesn't remind us of the bad times, the cardboard patches we used to wear in our shoes, the failed farms, the way people you love just up and die. It tells us instead that hard work and perseverance can overcome all obstacles; it tells lie after lie, and the happy ending is the happiest lie of all. (85)
Stories are the way humans share, create, and explore their many experiences and identities with each other. When a story is told, the original content lingers depending upon how the storyteller recalls the content. Once the story is retold, it often takes on different details and meanings, because each storyteller adds their own perspective, experience, and meaning. The story then begins to have its own life. Each storyteller has a connection to the beginning and the end of the story.
Stories are a means of passing on information, acting as a medium to transport cultural heritage and customs forward into the future. In his essay titled "You'll Never Believe What Happened," King says that, "The truth about stories is that that's all we are” (King Essay 2). Contained within this statement is a powerful truth: without stories, a society transcending the limitations of time could not exist. Cultures might appear, but they would inevitably die away without a means of preservation. Subsequent generations would be tasked with creating language, customs, and moral laws, all from scratch. In a way, stories form the core of society's existence.
In the story, “The G Ride” provides a learning experience, order, and how his stories are wired. This story is written by Francisco. People are able to learn from their stories. “Stories are a great way of learning from others, and can help shape cultures within business” (“The Power of Storytelling”). In this story Francisco, learns how to take care of his mom and to take care of her mistakes and make them his own. When writing a story,
The character is emphasising the moral and educational value of stories in human development and understanding by saying that there is always something to learn from stories, even when they are retold repeatedly.
1. Growing up we all heard stories. Different types of stories, some so realistic, we cling onto them farther into our lives. Stories let us see and even feel the world in different prespectives, and this is becuase of the writter or story teller. We learn, survive and entertain our selves using past experiences, which are in present shared as stories. This is why Roger Rosenblatt said, "We are a narrative species."
A narrative is specified to amuse, to attract, and grasp a reader’s attention. The types of narratives are fictitious, real or unification or both. However, they may consist of folk tale stories, mysteries, science fiction; romances, horror stories, adventure stories, fables, myths and legends, historical narratives, ballads, slice of life, and personal experience (“Narrative,” 2008). Therefore, narrative text has five shared elements. These are setting, characters, plot, theme, and vocabulary (“Narrative and Informational Text,” 2008). Narrative literature is originally written to communicate a story. Therefore, narrative literature that is written in an excellent way will have conflicts and can discuss shared aspects of human occurrence.
Within the fictional worlds of Haroun and the Sea of Stories, the characters realize that stories are not mere entertainment, but are crucial to their lives. Fictional stories are crucial pieces to Rashid Khalifa since he relies on them for a career and brings him enjoyment. They are also important to a politician because storytelling is a critical part of a politician’s survival and livelihood since they rely on the storytellers to persuade and convince people to vote for them. Most importantly they are important to Guppees since they depend on stories to be the source of all there speaking, and the pages of Gup (the army) they depend on stories to help them fight. All in all stories can
The importance of a story is to have a purpose and meaning, through this, people are able to engage and learn with what is being told to them, it has to have a connection to the past, bringing it to the present and to involve both the body and mind senses. Through storytelling the audience should gain an understanding and have a sense of emotion touched and come alive, they should also be able to explore the possibilities within their culture and feel a deep connection to country.
The narratives is a necessary component. The narratives lead the audience to think about the event that the speaker talked about. Expression of values and goals is the main aim of narratives. (Hampton, 2004) stated that stories provide frames for understanding experiences, explaining and solving problems, and giving emphasis to moral value.
One may clearly understand their surroundings, while for others it seems like a continued everlasting conflict. In Salman Rushdie's novel Haroun and the Sea of Stories, Haroun is the happiest youth, that believes all is right in the world. After his mother makes the decision of abandoning Haroun and his storytelling father, Rashid, Haroun commence to travel with his father forcing him to confront reality. In the moment of visiting the moon where the stories originated, Kahani, they confront several problems. His external conflict with the Walrus on Kahani confirms his new understanding of the world.
Value of Speech In the world we live in we usually take the value of free speech for granted. Sometimes, as humans we don’t understand how to control the way we speak. So, we try to keep a balance between what there is actually to say and not to say. The idea of balancing free speech and silence is a difficult idea for some.
Storytelling is crucial to everyone, as it is apart of every society around the world. This is shown strongly throughout Salmon Rushdie's book, Haroun and the Sea of Stories where story is used to teach, warn and entertain people and without it the world is a very dull place. In the real world everyone from politician's like Mr.Buttoo to father's like Rashid Khalifia, use stories to control and entertain the people surrounding them . Storytelling is a critical part of a politicians survival and livelihood in Haroun and the sea of stories since they rely on the storytellers to persuade and convince people to vote for them. The stories and the truths revealed through storytelling are the people's way of judging a politicians character and trustworthiness.
I believe that writing stories gives you more of an appreciation and understanding for a good book. All of the ideas that make a book come alive is from one author with an amazing imagination, who can captivate someone’s mind and tuck them into their world for a few hours. Every day in class I was allowed one hour to dedicate my time into a story, it is almost like entering your main character’s mind and acting as if it was you.
Stories are the substance of humanity. They not only spread our history and culture down from generation to generation, they convey our ideals and values. I love stories. Growing up in a predominantly elderly church in a small retirement town, I have been told countless fascinating stories from people who experienced events that I had previously only witnessed through books and old newsreels. The late British author Terry Pratchett once stated that “People think stories are shaped by people.
