Recommended: Negative impact of homosexuality

“Mom, I am gay. I’ve felt this way about women for a long time. I was very afraid to tell you. I’m scared. Maybe it’s a phase. Will I go to hell for it? I’m not sure right now but I choose to be with the same sex.” said I. This day changed my life. I remember it like it was yesterday. I felt very confused for a couple of months then it all came clear. I had a few friends and family member who came out to me. A lot of us homosexuals were scared just like me because of the religious aspect of it. Most of homosexuals thought we were going to hell. I had a lot of friends who felt that way from birth. It just really made me wonder could I go to hell for liking the same sex. Have I been this way since birth? Can I change it?
Being gay you’re told that you’re an abomination and even sometimes a demon. Most religions frown upon homosexuality.” In Catholic belief, "Marriage is a faithful, exclusive and lifelong union between one man and one woman, joined as husband and wife in an intimate partnership of life and love," the 47-bishop committee said in a statement released Sept. 10.”(Catholic News Services,(2003).
Although the Catholic Church is very strict on homosexuality some time ago and still found sometimes today, they practiced Pederasty. Pederasty is an erotic homosexual relationship between an adult male and adolescent male. According to the Bible "If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them" (1Leviticus.20:13 Revised Standard Version). Although it says that a man cannot lay with another man as he shall lay with a woman. The Bible never says that a woman shall not lay with another woman as she shall lay with a man. ...

...’re going to hell for. People still do them. The Bible also states not to judge. We also have to look at from Jesus’s point of view. He loves everyone despite their sexual orientation. I believe in the scripture I quoted earlier Jesus was saying they can be born this way. Not all homosexuals but some. So it’s a desire most of us can try to fight but we won’t win. I believe people will have no choice but to accept us. A few years from now I believe we will begin to live a very bisexual world. I believe most people fight acceptance of homosexuals because they are a little homosexual themselves.

This proves how sick and twisted the minds of homophobes are. As a Catholic myself, even though I was taught that same sex relationship is wrong and not natural, I do not condemn homosexuals or look down on them. In fact, I even have friends that are gay or bisexual. It is good that more countries have now implemented new laws to protect the LGBT community. This ensures the lower crime rate and discrimination of the LGBTs.
