The general ideas of a growth mindset is having the ability to go about a certain problem, not

feel sorry for yourself and work through the problem. It's being able to look at the bright side of

things in life. And it's also coming up with better conclusions to a situation. Whether the

situation is a having a bad day or not being as popular as your friends. Some advantages of a

growth mindset is not having a bad situation define you as a person. You can't let being

embarrassed in front of everyone be who you are. You have to make a decision to persevere and

I did want to give up and I was very upset. But I stuck

with it and worked harder to read and understand the music. Now, I am much better at the music

and my teacher has seen the improvements. All because of me being gritty, I achieved excellence

in the music class.

Finally, Carol Dweck goes on to talk about the different mindsets in her article “Mindset”.

Carol states, “Yet those people with the growth mindset were not labelling themselves and

throwing up their hands. Even though they felt distressed, they were ready to take risks, confront

the challenges and keep working at them.”(p.77) This quote explains that having a growth

mindset is being able to look at a situation and think of ways to fix it and do better the next time.

This means lot letting the situation or problem discourage you from continuing with your goal. In

my experience of using a growth mindset I had to take some time and really think about my

decisions. I wanted to go to a sweet sixteen celebration for one of my friends. Meanwhile, I was

only fourteen. My mother didn't allow me to go to the party. I thought she just didn't want me to

go just out of spite. But in actuality, she didn't feel that I was mature enough to go.
