The Graveyard Book Introduction: In the graveyard book, there is a boy whose family has been killed by a man named Jack. He is now living in a graveyard, his name is Nobody(Bod) Owens. Throughout the book, Gaiman shows how Body is the chosen one to be in the graveyard. Growing up in the graveyard can have its limits to learning about things kids his age would know. Even though Bod grew up in a graveyard, he was never alone; there was always someone nearby to help or answer any questions he was thinking. Bod is very curious about this book and goes exploring places he isn't allowed to. When Bod would come across something difficult, Silas would always be there, to help him and teach him lessons he had overcome. When Bod went exploring into new places and with other creatures, he could hear things his accomplices couldn’t. Whenever he goes to explore he can sometimes find himself in situations he might not be able to control, but there is always someone that comes to the rescue. When this would happen, it was like there was something that knew he was in trouble and would come to help him. Throughout the book Bod comes across lots of different people and goes to different places that these different people are from and stay for the rest of their lives, Bod gets chosen to go to all these places and fears what life would be like to stay there. Point 2: How supporting characters show this theme: Bod makes a friend called Scarlett in chapter two. Scarlett and her mother would come to the graveyard often and would play around the graveyard. When Scarlett first met Bod, she found out that he didn’t know stuff kids their age would usually know. Scarlett would help with his ABCs and teach him new things, while Bod would tell her about the different people
