Grief Work Theories: Brief Work Theory Can Be Applied To Deaths

Although, grief work theories are often applied to deaths, they can also be applied to other sorts of loss that an individual faces. For instance, in 2012, I had just bought a new black Trek bike. Three days later, I stepped outside only to find my broken bike lock and my bike nowhere in sight. All of a sudden, I began verbally abusing everyone and was unable to control it. The police’s in ability to assist me fuelled my anger and frustration. As a result of this monetary loss, I never rode a bike after that ,despite being an avid cyclist. I lost interest rapidly and avoided any events that involved the use of a bicycle. To this day, I hope that somehow I will have my bike restored to me and I will revive my passion for cycling.

In his theory, he states that a researcher should look into the meaning of an experience that an individual has had and how that particular individual understands the term ‘death’. The experience was an eye opener to the fact that death can overcome you anywhere. After learning of the death of that family, I was shocked and was unable to accept its occurrence. Neimeyer says that we human beings are always trying to make sense of the world around us and when the plane crash struck, I was unable to decipher anything. We are constantly molding ourselves to fit the ever-changing environment. It was very unusual to have the death of a main character in a Box Office movie. Her death was a surprise to everyone as it was an unfamiliar effort on the director’s part for the viewers. In the scene of her death, she was helping Spider Man defeat the villain and in doing so, signed up for her own death. She fell from the top of a clock tower along with cogs and wheels following her descent. Whilst falling, Spider Man attempted to save her life but by the time he managed to stop her fall, she had already hit the ground, which ended her life.
