Throughout the life of a human, various experiences will shape his/her understanding of the world. Whether there be a negative or positive experience coupled to a certain object or place is dependent upon how one’s encounter with the object/place occurs. In using the senses, various things can be perceived of a place, meal, person, etc. The kind of people raising him/her, what religion (if any) he/she experiences, and the senses gathering information on everything around him/her can all influence a person's perspective.

Through the senses, humans are able to perceive the world in the “correct” way according to his/her brain signals (“Senses and Perception”). The way which a human brain processes the world is how reality is – reality perceived by the senses. All senses together – sight, hearing, touch, taste, smell – build off of each other (Groeger). Using the senses, humans are able to gather information on the world and use that to store knowledge to later be used to compare and contrast with new situations which he/she is not entirely familiar with. Knowledge based off the sense can be used to draw conclusions on what the rest of the world is like, making it possible to somewhat have an understanding of the whole world. The mind, according to Aristotle, is a blank tablet until sensory experiences occur (Tarnas 59). The natural and divine, together, helped to shape the Greeks perspective of the world (Tarnas 19). Plato and Homeric peoples used the Greek gods and goddesses to explain the world. The different gods/goddesses signified things such as the mind, marriage, change, and more (Tarnas 15). An intangible world of deities combine with the tangible, ordered world of humans is used by the Homeric Greeks to explain and perceive the world. This religious aspect of perspective in Greek philosophy is still relevant in today's society.
