The Google car: to some skeptics, this may sound like a cash grab for the multi-billion company, known for its fast information gathering search engine software and cloud computing. But to others who believe technology is the future, this may revolutionize the driving industry as we know it, forever changing the way we get from point A to point B.
At first I myself didn’t believe that such a product even existed; until one day while I was on the computer, randomly searching up things that I found interesting. I typed “Google” on said search engine, and one of the suggestions that came up was “Google car”. Google, wanting to test the capabilities of the Google car, took the opportunity to ask the children if they can walk in front and around the google cars they had parked around the headquarters. The children, wanting to be of help in any way they can, complied with Google’s request. The event gave the Google cars sensors and software extra practice and testing, so that it can recognize certain obstacles the google car can encounter on the road, and help it “learn” and drive more cautiously.
Along with the technical advances the google car has there is also a long list of features the Google car also possesses; the google car is programmed to drive itself, it is able to traverse busy streets and can navigate comfortably on freeways, although it is still best to have a driver at the wheel. The team at Google car has software built into the car, focused on the regular challenges of driving in the city, like bicyclists and walking pedestrians. The software plots the car 's path accordingly - then reacts if something unexpected
