*|~|*My journal*|~|* Day 1 The body i looted Is only four feet away I smell the awful stench Of it decaying The bell rang from the bell tower Screams from Crane town arose Just like a rose in spring it brought me closer To the puzzle i was trying to solve. The puzzle was in a tomb of an ancient pharoah Gondamoon was the name of the Pharoah I hear a scream I must run Turns out the man who was screaming was a family member of mine I tried to help. It didn’t phase the man injuring my family member. I then lift my “father” as he called me his “son” I didn’t know what he meant by “son” I put him over my shoulder He was barely alive I felt bad I felt as a knife had been driven into my chest I tried to patch him up Too much
Daniel Horsmanden’s Journal of the Proceedings was written with a specific purpose in mind which he openly acknowledges in his introduction. Horsmanden claims that it was for “the public benefit” (Zabin, p.46) and inspired by the fact that some individuals believed “there was no plot at all” (Zabin, p.45). He hoped that by displaying the facts of the case he could prove to the people of New York City that the proceedings were just and that there was a great need to keep close supervision on their African slaves (Zabin, p.45). Having such an obvious bias the Journal is far from a perfect historical record of events, but under close examination Horsmanden’s account gives a vast amount of insight into the sharp divisions that characterized eighteenth century New York and can help explain why the people were so ready to believe in such a grandiose conspiracy. One can even see ways in which the conspiracy brought New Yorkers together and how it drove them apart.
Rhetoric in the article by William Covino and David Jolliffe is explained as an art of persuasion that uses communication with a purpose or goal. To add, it is an ongoing conversation between the rhetor and the auditors. In addition to using persuasion, the observance of the audience is used as well. In the article by William Covino and David Jolliffe they talk about the four major elements of rhetoric: the rhetorical situation, the audience, the methods of persuasion, and the 5 canons. As explained in the reading the purpose of rhetorical communication is to teach, to please, and to move.
I woke up at John Morris’ house, on his coach. As I knocked a flyaway hair out of my face I noticed my face was wet, with tears, and then it all hit me at once that my Dad and Mrs. Borden were dead. Suddenly I couldn’t breathe. I heard John Morris ask if I was alright, but that seemed like a completely different world, I responded with a meek okay, so Mr. Morris wouldn’t see me like this. That didn’t work though, I saw his tall shadowy figure ducking under the door frame with tea. As Mr. Morris sat down and put the tea on the coffee table in front of us, I turned my head and quickly wiped the tears from my eyes in hopes he wouldn’t see.
In today’s society the risk of being diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease increases each year. Sexually transmitted diseases are affecting more of the younger generation, more people are having unprotected sex and more sex partners. They don’t realize the risk they 're putting themselves in, many people think that getting a sexually transmitted disease will never happen but they 're wrong. Gonorrhea is one a common sexually transmitted diseases that can be found in men and women. When a woman is pregnant and gets diagnosed with gonorrhea, there is a higher chance of the disease getting to the baby. Anybody that is sexually active and has had multiple partners is at risk of being diagnosed with gonorrhea. When you are sexually active
This month I read Gossamer by Lois Lowry. It is a fictional story about strange creatures that take memories scents and sounds from little things from around a home, and proceed to then implant the happy ones into their charges while they are sleeping. Creating happy dreams for their charges. However there are other creatures called Sinisteed’s which give nightmares and torment the creatures charges. The story follows one of the creatures named Littlest One, or Littlest for short. She and her teacher Thin Elderly visit an old womans home every night and give her dreams. Until one day when the old woman takes in a angry young boy who the Sinisteeds are very interested in. Littlest is in charge of trying to protect John, the angry little boy, from the nightmares.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately five million people will become ill by one or more of these four sexually transmitted infections (STI) each year; chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis.1 Out of these four, gonorrhea has become increasingly drug resistant which causes a major threat to attempts to decrease STI’s. 1 This disease is also known to have a high prevalence and low mortality within our society.1 Individuals living with gonorrhea will also have a high chance of being infected with chlamydia and HIV. As soon as my parents fall asleep, I sneak out the back door and go to the witch’s house. I broke a window and climbed. The inside of the house smells like something is rotten.I look around at all the strange stuff. Then I noticed a book on an old dusty claw shaped rack. The book I found was about monster stories. I love monsters, so I took it
As I inched my way toward the cliff, my legs were shaking uncontrollably. I could feel the coldness of the rock beneath my feet when my toes curled around the edge in one last futile attempt at survival. My heart was racing like a trapped bird, desperate to escape. Gazing down the sheer drop, I nearly fainted; my entire life flashed before my eyes. I could hear stones breaking free and fiercely tumbling down the hillside, plummeting into the dark abyss of the forbidding black water. The trees began to rapidly close in around me in a suffocating clench, and the piercing screams from my friends did little to ease the pain. The cool breeze felt like needles upon my bare skin, leaving a trail of goose bumps. The threatening mountains surrounding me seemed to grow more sinister with each passing moment, I felt myself fighting for air. The hot summer sun began to blacken while misty clouds loomed overhead. Trembling with anxiety, I shut my eyes, murmuring one last pathetic prayer. I gathered my last breath, hoping it would last a lifetime, took a step back and plun...
We were slammed off the road in a tumble, and the only screams I could hear were my own. It was a blur in memory, but crystal clear in the moment. It felt like every ticking second was an eternity. A painful eternity, feeling each one of my ribs agonizingly crack. Listening to the bloodcurdling screams I couldn't even recognize as my own. The car had flipped and we were rolling down a steep hill at full speed. The truck had crushed Aaron's skull like a squished grape and I was in too much of a panic to turn to a seemingly dead Cheyenne. My entire body was lit up with excruciating pain and my ears rang louder than my
I was alert sitting by the window facing the oak tree, the same oak tree where I had left trinkets “like Indian pennies, chewing gum, soap dolls, a rusty medal, a broken watch and a chain for Scout and Jem to find.” The pagent was over and I was expecting to see Scout and Jem by the tree anytime. I heard them running, Scout was having some problems as she was caged in her dress. I was startled to hear another set of unfamiliar, heavy footsteps as if someone was following Scout and Jem. I then heard the scuffling and kicking sound and Scout’s plea for help. I bolted out of the house, focused on reaching the kids in time. I noticed Scout was on the ground, trying to wiggle out of her dress, she seemed bruised. Jem was trying to free himself from the man, he was hurt and screaming. The man was relentless as he pounded him with one blow after another. Jem was hurt, his arm was dangling as if broken. Seeing, the man raise his hand with a shiny object in his hand, I bumped into him with all my strength. The man lost his balance, his foot hit the root of the tree and the knife fell from his hand as he hit the ground with a loud thump and a ear shattering
I slowly wake up, and it must have been hours later. I looked down and my leg was gone. I could feel a searing pain rush through my body. My leg was bandaged up around the cut, but I could still imagine how it looked. Blood was dripping from the bandages. I could not take it anymore. Right there I shut my eyes, and never again were they opened. My family was traumatized at my death.
I reached for the knife, my fingers met the plastic case. “Dang it” I cursed. I must of dropped the knife when I tripped. I was thinking about going to look for it but my hopes were crushed when I heard something coming into the mouth of the cave. I dropped to the ground and started to snake my way behind a boulder. I armed the flare gun and took aim at what was to come around the corner. I heard a rock tumble and roll on the ground. I heard a something being dragged along the dirt. I glared at the figure, the little moonlight giving me some sight. I heard Anmol screaming. HELP, SOMEONE HELP” I watched in terror as a slumped figure rounded the corner, I could not see its face. It was black and deformed in a disgusting way. I saw it take Anmol to a corner, I heard Anmol scream one last time. A shrill, spine tingling scream. I heard something cracking and tearing. Like a green branch snapping over your knee. I was pretty sure that this thing, had just killed Anmol. Just before I was about to run, something was in my peripheral vision. Something that didn’t suit the colour way of the cave. I looked, at first I was surprised that there was a hat in here. I continued to look at it, gazing. Something about it was strange, like I’ve seen it before. A yellow sun hat with a sunflower brooch? Then it came to me, it was the mother brooch the one that went missing. I snapped out of thinking and decided it was my only chance to run. My feet meet the ground, I sprung out and went beyond my top capabilities of sprinting. I knew the thing was after me when I heard It screech. I turned around, aimed the gun behind me and pulled the trigger. For once the cave was lit up, I briefly saw everything. Anmol limp body, a pile of bones and the killer monster that chased me. It screeched at the flares brightness and dove into the shadows. I loaded another flare. I looked up, I was going to shoot the bastard again. I law its shadow and shot, it
I had been begging my mom to take to take me to the library so I could pick out some books that I had an interest in reading. When my mom had finally found time to take me. I was bouncing up and down in my seat the whole way there clutching a piece of paper with the picture of the book I wanted that my mom helped me find on the libraries website. I remember walking in and seeing the colorful bindings on the shelves. The smell of books and the leather of the couches surrounded me, as I walked straight to the kids fantasy section. I was a girl on a mission. My eyes scanning the shelves looking for that colorful orange and blue binding I had heard so much about. When my eyes found that blue and orange binding I was looking for I ripped it from the shelves, and ran to my mom jumping up and down begging her to let me get it.I had never read a fantasy book before and I had wanted to read this book since the beginning of the school year. But my mom’s answer always had been “ When you finish your school books then you can read it.” That day in July I finally got what I had asked for, for seven months. As soon as I got home I ran upstairs and climbed up the ladder to the comfort of my bed on the top bunk. I leaned my back up against the wall, pulled my blankets over my legs, and started on the first chapter. The chapter title of The Boy Who Lived immediately grabbed my attention. As I started to read this book it was nothing like I had read before.
Gonorrhea, oldest of the sexual diseases since the medieval times, which is also called the “clap” or “drip” before it was discovered. The earliest record of the disease is found from 1611 when the English Parliament made a law to make sure that the contagious infection was reduced. Since then we have come a long way to discover various amounts of antibiotics to cure it along with learning about symptoms and how to avoid coming in contact with it. If gonorrhea isn’t taken care of properly and as soon as possible it can cause major damage to the body.
It is not necessary for these types of women to argue that marriage in itself is a social good; equality is the social good towards which they are working. Having access to it has not prevented heterosexuals from challenging traditional marriage; there is no reason to think that it will have this effect on lesbians and gay men. Lesbian feminists will continue to support a radical and democratic vision of family values that will include legal options to support chosen gender and sexual relational rights such as civil unions, domestic partnerships etc. where they are open to all. Ultimately the goal of feminism is to bring about a restructuring of society that allows for mutual participation of women and a valuing of their work.
