Globalization And Sustainable Prosperity

To what extent does globalization contribute to sustainable prosperity for all people?

Globalization plays a large part in contributing to sustainable prosperity. I believe without globalization, many people and countries would not have sustained prosperity.

Ship breaking contributes to sustainable prosperity. A ship's life span can be anywhere from 25 to 30 years. After this point companies will sell the ship back to ship breakers in developing countries.Where they will be paid a couple dollars a day to dismantle the ships. After being dismantled the reusable material is sold back to local companies to be reused. Although this business is highly dangerous it still remains highly lucrative. In three to four months a ship can make nearly

a two million dollar profit from a five million dollar investment.

Efforts to promote sustainability have been successful. Though Alberta tar sands contain 180 million barrels of heavy oil, separating the oil from the sand requires a tremendous amount of energy. It takes one barrel of oil to get 3 barrels of usable crude. Because of this energy intensive process the project produces greenhouse gasses. More efficient methods are being used to get the oil from the sand while producing minimal greenhouse gasses. Projects are now being overseen to monitor the environmental conditions.

Environmental prosperity. Alternative energy sources such as solar and wind,have fewer environmental impacts and do not use non-renewable resources.Many businesses have been exploring ways of using alternative energy sources.many wind farms in Alberta have shown that wind energy has potential as a clean energy source. Costs of of producing solar energy using photovoltaic cells are steadily dropping.Making units more affordable, increasing their potential as alternative energy resources.Several newly developed hydroelectric plants in Alberta show that hydroelectricity also has potential as a renewable energy source.

Globalization contributes largely to sustainable prosperity for all people.Globalization leads to sustainability for millions of people around the world. And could lead to all people having prosperity around the world.
