The Diary of Anne Frank is a 1959 film that was directed by George Stevens. A personal diary that belonged to Anne Frank, a Jewish girl who lived in hiding with her family during World War II. All of her writings to her diary were addressed as ‘Dear Kitty’. The Diary was published after the end of the War by her father Otto Frank. July 1942, Anne told the restrictions placed upon the Jews that drove the Franks into hiding over the spice factory. The Van Daans and their son were also hiding with them. They arranged the hideaway and warned the families that they must maintain strict silence during daylight hours while the workers are there. On the first day the minutes drag by in silence. The hours of having to sit still and hide away from the officers that searched was hard on them. They had to leave everything that they had and try to gather the people they knew so they were safe.
I think something important is how awful the holocaust was and how they showed it. The concentration camps were nothing good, they used people for new experiments, torture, and executing. German authorities established camps all over Germany. They used some prisoners for construction and expansion for the camps. Many prisoners from the concentration camps died of maltreatment, starvation, poor health conditions, or execution.

III. Importance of the film
I think this film is very important because it shows the true torture of the whole deal. They really show how bad it was for those people and even some of the people in charge didn’t actually see the problem with what they were doing. It was explained to them as an experiment to get rid of the Jews and making new medicines.
