Russia is a huge landmass and covers a vast amount of the earth’s surface area. Being so large, Russia contains a huge variety of different geographical features. There are several mountains, rivers, bodies of water, climate zones, and population centers in Russia. Most of the development in Russia is located in its core area, east of the Ural Mountains. There are several countries around Russia that used to be parts of a larger union called The Union of Soviet Socialists Republics, however, in 1991, the USSR broke apart into several other independent states. The new states that were formed are: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgystan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
The realm that is Russia is further divided into eight regions including the Far East, Siberia, Northwest, Urals, Greater Volga, Central Russia, Black Earth, and North Caucasus.
There are several mountain ranges in the Russian realm. Perhaps the most prominent and important mountain range is the Ural mountain range. The Urals basically divide Russia into two parts: the area east of the Urals, known as European Russia, and the area west of the Urals. European Russia is highly developed, while the area west of Russia is little more than a wasteland, with little population. Besides the Urals, there are several other mountain ranges within the realm. For example, the Caucasus Mountains, which divide Russia from Georgia. There are several mo...
The usable land was mainly in the southwest of Russia. The eastern part which is called Siberia, is mostly frozen permanently (permafrost). Since the land was frozen, so too was the ocean around Russia. This meant that trade between Russia and other countries was impossible. All these downsides of the Russian agriculture affected the peasants and most of the population of the country.
Russia in the 1930s By 1928, Stalin had ousted Trotsky and the rest of the Left opposition. In four years, Stalin had single handedly taken major steps away from Lenin’s collective leadership and free inter-party debate and replaced them with his autocratic dictatorship. Stalin began to secure predominant power over the communist party and the state by destroying passive opposition from the peasantry and former Lenin supporters. He won growing support from the working class, who were impressed with the initial five-year plan. It promised increased industrialization, which would lead to socialism in one country within their lifetime.
Russia is a different country than most are used to which has made a history for itself. Russia played a huge part in World War II as well as established many scientific minds and creation. The first mission (unmanned) to outer space was conducted by Russia (Soviet Union). Their government is similar to democracy, but contains a president, a prime minister, a judicial branch, and a Russian Federation Assembly (State Duma and the Federation Council). Power is split between the Prime Minister (Dmitry Medvedev) and the President (Vladimir Putin); however, the president has deciding power (Darlington, 2014).
Russia, spanning 11 time zones and serving as home to about 150 million people, possesses tremendous natural and human resources. Demand today for imported consumer goods, capital equipment, and services remains remarkably strong, with imports representing an unusually large percentage of the national market. Despite outstanding long-term market potential, Russia continues to be an extremely difficult country in which to do business.
Utility of assessment. Why are these types of personality assessments useful? Did you find the results useful? Why or why not?
With childhood obesity becoming an epidemic in America, we need methods to help stop obesity in children such as physical activities. Physical activities are not only to help prevent obesity; it can also help students improve on their academics. “Physical education helps the brain function; exercise increases the blood flow within the body and increases the blood volume in regions of the brain associated with memory formation” (Kovar, Susan K at el. Elementary Classroom Teachers as Movement Educators. 4th ed. Boston: McGraw-Hill, 2004. Print.). Children spend many hours of their week inside a classroom, there are activities and lessons teachers can do to help their students become more active. “Physical education and movement are important to start at a young age because children are very active and child obesity is a huge problem these days” (Gaither, Laura, personal interview. October 7, 2013). Having movement and physical activity in the classroom is crucial to elementary school children as it is shown to have a positive effect on their overall life quality. “We know that physical activity is critical…not just for better health but for better academic performance” (Michelle Obama).
Russia is the largest country in the world in terms of area and the world’s ninth most populous nation with 143 million people. Due to its large area the country is situated in 4 different climate zones and has vast natural resources. Russia also has a unique geographic position with the 14 border countries, bounded by 3 out of 4 world oceans, facilitating the build of international and domestic supply chains. Russia is one of the most technologically advanced economies in the world with a very big and well-educated work force and one of the largest consumer markets. The Russian economy is commodity-driven and is the world’s largest producer of oil (12%), natural gas (18%) and nickel (20%).
Chechnya is situated in the Caucasus Mountains, between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. It is surrounded by Dagestan to the east, Georgia and South Ossetia to the south, Russia to the north and North Ossetia in the west. Chechnya is rich in mineral oil and produced twenty million tons per year before the disintegration of the Soviet Union. The collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 created the opportunity for the Russian provinces to declare their independence. The Russian government managed to keep its control of all states apart from Chechnya, which, under the new president Dzhokhar Dudayev, declared independence in October 1991.
Self-report personality inventories such as these allow for a comparison of various traits within an individual to other people’s qualities (Nevid, 2015, p. 435). Additionally, this form of testing is inexpensive to administer and score. Another benefit of these types of tests is the likelihood that one will be honest, due to the lack of face-to-face communication with an interviewer (Nevid, 2015, p. 436). Lastly, this form of testing also offers the possibility of boosting one’s confidence level, because of the positive wording that does not focus on the negative aspects of one’s personality (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 21). Nevertheless, negative factors remain, such as the results of these tests have the ability to change based on one’s mood, which may have been the reason for the variance in my testing results. According to an article by Vox media, fifty percent of testers had a changed result in as little as five weeks after the first testing experience (Caswell & Stromberg, 2015, para. 24). These self-reported tests depend on the truthfulness of the individual taking the test, thus they rely on the self-judgment of one’s opinion (Nevid, 2015, p. 435) Additionally, these tests which are bias, measure a single dimension of personality (Nevid, 2015, p.
Samantha Cleaver’s article titled “Is Your Child Getting Enough Physical Education?” addresses America’s past and previous issues regarding obesity. In addition, she also brings up the fact our country is overlooking the real reason as to why obesity is still a problem if children are required to take physical education classes. Cleaver explains that “only 4 percent of elementary schools, 7 percent middle schools, and 2 percent of high schools provide daily physical education classes for the entire year” (Cleaver, 2008) . Furthermore, Cleaver brings to our attention that America should take into consideration the small amount of physical education students are receiving, and the amount of time they are being active in the classroom. She
Proponents of physical education often contend their case with these and other similar arguments, but upon closer examination of the physical education system, its true use and effectiveness are highly questionable. Those who argue that physical education is integral to the nation’s health must reexamine the nation in which we live, a nation in which more than one-third of adults are obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Pennsylvanian legislation has mandated physical education since 1999, but since 1999, the adult obesity rate has risen by 11%. Regardless of the proponents’ claims, physical education is not having its intended effect on public health. (Note: I am not trying to suggest that physical education is deleterious to public health. I am just showing that physical education has done a negligible job promoting health). Furthermore, physical education consumes an entire class period of a student’s day, a class period which could be spent learning one of many highly important, pertinent 21st century subjects that the Common Core has inexplicably ignored: micro and macro economics, U.S.
Russia contains many different trade routes and is looking to expand its trans-Siberian railway to open up even more. There are also many different boundaries, a large amount of these are in the Northwestern, Central, Southern, Volga, and lower portions of the Urals, and Siberian areas. Populated areas contain most of the sustainable structures. It also includes 26 protected sites of World Heritage. These are found in the northwest mainly, but also found throughout Russia. Capabilities in Russia are lower than most other countries as the climate and terrain pose the issue of making most of the country not ideal for saving, enhancing, or sustaining life.
Before taking this test, I began to think every open-minded about this five factor personality assessment. During this assessment, I realized that I was asked too little of information for this assessment to determine my exact personality. After, I received this screen telling my personality. There were five main factors and I was also told a score for all five factors. The factors were extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness.
Gender equality in America is a war that is still being fought today. Around the time of the war of 1812, American women were silenced from debate in public circles which forced them to share their opinions, perspectives, and ideas in private. Rosalie Calvert lived in Maryland during the war and she took responsibilities that many women did not. For example, she took control of family investments, land purchases, and decision for her children. She wrote a series of letters to family members to express her opinions, experiences, and perspective. Her letters represent the desire of American women to delve into the public sphere, to gain equality by establishing themselves as intelligent, and to raise their daughters to become independent in the hope of future gender equality.
Physical education can go beyond just working out. Physical education involves several different approaches for learning. High school students gain more than physical knowledge yet it can improve there approaches toward responsibility, their sportsmanship, and their overall community.
