Genetic Engineering Controversy

Every organism has a huge amount of information, this information is found in a molecule called DNA, throughout the centuries science has had an immense development in most of its fields, one of them, Genetic Engineering also known as genetic modification, this process can be used for bacteria and eukaryotic cells (animals and plants). Genetic Engineering manipulates DNA, it can from one body to another, this alterations can be made to fix genetic defects or to improve DNA, this process does not normally include traditional animal and plant breeding which has caused a lot of controversy because it can cause health problems.

Over the years, progressively complex publicizing instruments need been connected with crop change. …show more content…

The genetic engineering in animals it is also very important, the modification of the animal's DNA has increased during the last decade, they are genetically engineered to create disease-resistant animals to enhance food quality, but it brings a lot of ethical issues and complains cause the goal is to create new races of animals, they are looking for new ways to make them grow faster, make them fatter with less food, which a lot of people believe that in the long run it could cause severe health problems.

Developing countries such as USA, Canada, Brazil, China, South Africa, Uruguay, Australia and India had adopted genetically engineered crops, and with it the controversy about transgenic food, but it is crucial to keep trying to develope more this technology since the population keeps growing and it might reach a point where the food production won't be enough, or as we had seen before, the extinction of animal races, or plant types, some people think that it might be the cause of different diseases, but there is a chance that it can also help cure them as well. What has been a problem too, is the regulation of this products, since they are being made with new technology there is a lot of doubts, federal government has the obligation to regulate and make sure that “transgenic food” is safe for humans to
