Once upon a time, not too long ago, four seniors in high school decided to go on a camping trip in the woods. They used their friend Gabriella’s parents’ cabin deep in the woods of Lassellsville. Now here’s a little background on Lassellsville, no one ever really went there, the only people that lived there were old people that were on their way out and druggies. It was very run down, and creepy. Ninety-five percent of the town was woods, and it was quite a large town too so if you got deep enough in the woods it could take you days to find your way to the next town over or the civilized part of it. So these four teenagers, Gabriella, Jake, John, and Katherine gathered all the alcohol they could find and shipped off. Now there was no cell phone …show more content…
service here, so there was no way of contacting anybody other than the wifi, but I mean as long as you have wifi you’re good right? so they packed their stuff, headed through the dirt roads to the little cabin deep in Lassellsville. they get there and turn the T.V. on and start drinking. A little into the evening, after dark, the news comes on.
The T.V. starts flashing, a red banner with the word ‘urgent’, a woman's voice starts talking. “This is a PSA for the town of Lassellsville and surrounding areas. There is said to be a strange man on a rampage running through the town, he is believed to be infected with a new virus called H1N1, please stay inside for your safety, we will keep you updated as much as possible. Police are on the lookout for Juan Carlos Jr.,” a picture of a Hispanic man with red eyes, dark brown hair, and missing teeth popped up on the t.v. “please if you see this man refrain from contact, he is dangerous, I repeat he is dangerous.” Everyone looked at each other, “oh god” John said. “Lock the doors,” Katherine said. So they locked the doors and kept the news on to keep updated. A few hours past and the fear subsided and so did any buzz they had gotten. The news comes back on and they still hadn't found the guy when all of a sudden the tv went off and so did the lights. It was totally dark. “Friggin Christ, you gotta be kidding me” Jacob uttered. “I got this. the generator is right outside”, Gabriella said and started towards the door, there came a knock. Everyone froze. Terror filled the
room. A straggly voice screeched. “Oh my god” Katherine whispered, “it's him…” Everyone stared at her. “No, it's not!” John said, “watch…who's there?” John said loudly So the person outside could hear. A muffled moan came from outside the cabin. “It's freaking’ him” Gabriella screeched. So here're these four seniors, alone in the dark in a cabin in the middle of the woods with no cell phone reception or wifi. The best part is none of them told their parents where they were really going because they weren't supposed to be there. Just then jake passed out. the girls, horrified, screamed, John immediately went to his side kneeling near the couch. Another moan came from outside and this time the person scratched at the door. An ear piercing nail filing scratch that would be sure to peel the paint right off. “What are we gonna do!?” Katherine exclaimed. Then John noticed something, sticking out from under the sofa. John grabbed it and pulled. A long double barrel 42 caliber shotgun slid out. John immediately stood up. Stepped over jake and instructed Gabriella to open the door on the count of three. “One,” John said “two three!” Katherine spits out. Gabriella unlocked and opened the door. There fell in a large Hispanic man foaming at the mouth with half his guts hanging out from his stomach and blood splattered all over his clothes. John shot two bullets, one to the head one to the heart, and down the zombie man went. Jake heard the gunshots, opened his eyes, and popped up like a spring. “What the hell!” He exclaimed. The zombie was dead. They all sat there in silence for a moment. After the initial shock wore off they decided to drag the body out in the woods and bury it. So all four of them took a limb and pulled the man to the forest. There they dug a hole with shovels they found in the shed next to the cabin and buried him. They then packed their stuff up after refueling the generator so they could see and promptly left. They never spoke about that night to anyone ever again and the man was never found. And they lived happily ever after.
Strange things began to happen the next couple days. First, Joey was in the living room of Grandma’s house making a jig saw puzzle. He heard the sound of a horses hooves walking slowly on the street then the sound stopped in front of the house and heard someone put something in Grandma’s mail box. Joey heard the horse walk away and a little while later Grandma’s mailbox blew up. Next, Ms. Wilcox’s outhouse was destroyed by a cherry bomb. Then, a dead mouse was found floating in the bottle of milk that was delivered to the front
A hit was put out on Taylor and Zavala by leaders of the Mexican drug cartel because they were becoming a nuisance. This hit was carried out by the same Latino gang members who had previously done a drive-by shooting of a rival gang. The officers were enticed towards their imminent deaths with a car chase which was set up by the Latino gang members. This chase led them towards an apartment complex which was rigged with many gang members and artillery to ensure that neither Taylor nor Zavala would survive. The two were ambushed but decided that gunning their way out was their best option. When the officers made it to an alley they were met by another Latino gang member who fired at Taylor and Zavala, hitting Taylor once in the chest before being shot and killed by Zavala. Zavala went to aid Taylor who appeared to be quickly dying and called out for help. Before police back up arrived the original Latino gang members found Zavala in the...
Joel confusedly looks around and behind him he sees a scared Sarah shaking him awake, Tommy just outside of the truck, and directly in front of him, he sees a family being attacked by somebody infected, which jolts him awake and back into reality. With the car now being sideways after the crash, in order to get out, Joel uses all his strength and starts to kick the windshield in front of him until it shatters. Joel carefully crawls out then reaches in for Sarah, avoiding the shards of glass on the ground and still bordering the windshield. Just as she starts to climb out and stand up, she falls over and complains that her leg hurts. A noticeably worried Joel grabs his revolver from his jean pocket then hands it over to Tommy and demands he protect them. Joel picks Sarah up and with her in his arms, they begin running for safety. As Joel sprints through the streets with Sarah in his arms and Tommy just a few feet in front of them, chaos erupts everywhere. In any given direction, there are either citizens or infected individuals dashing through the streets, with dozens of people being attacked along the way. In addition, there are explosions and many cars accidents with one car even driving straight into a gas station, causing it to blow up. Sarah at one point looks at the gas station then alarmingly utters, “those people are on fire,” to which Joel tells her not to look, prompting her to close her eyes and
Randall Blighton saw a silhouette of an infant in the vans window which now he says was a car seat. He felt that he couldn’t just pass by after he had just dropped off his own children with their mother. When he first arrived by the van he set out flares to make sure that everybody knew that the van was there. He then went to open the drivers side door and found that a woman’s purse was jammed between the accelerator and the firewall, that would explain the continually motion forward. He could see that a figure was lying across the front seat and that the head was tucked into the chest just over the passenger seat. He could see that the figure had on one loafer type on one foot that looked feminine. As he searched to turn on the emergency flashers and was unable to find them, not knowing that they were over head. He felt the floor to see if there was a baby. However, as he felt around he realized that the floor and seats of the van and realized why it was so hard to see through the drivers side window that was splattered with something dark, blood. Nevertheless, he felt it was more important to keep searching to find the baby instead of stopping. He shuddered and didn’t get how there could be so much blood in the van if it hadn’t been hit by another vehicle. Randall then hopped in the drivers seat and moved the van on to the shoulder of 79th where it met sunset highway.

“Coming!” Scarlett yelled. As she rushed to the door, it happened again. The reason she was answering the door is because two weeks earlier, catastrophe struck. That evening was a stormy night, lightning was making the sky look bright as day, and the thunder making the night sound like the angels were bowling a perfect score. Then BANG! A lightning bolt hit the A/C unit supercharging the unit. The time was in the middle of the night, so when Scarlett woke that morning she was very surprised, now Scarlett couldn’t live her life. The following days were difficult, she couldn’t even use hairspray without getting the spray on her dress. Another thing was that the unit made a loud roar, as if a lion was standing right in the kitchen. Also, the storm was so shoddy, she couldn’t call a repairman till a few weeks after that horrific night. Finally, the lines were fixed, so Scarlett pulled out a phone book and looked at the repairman section. She found a company under the name of Johnson Air Conditioning. Scarlett picked up the telephone and dialed the number. The phone rang and rang till
Bill Bryson the author of the short story ‘A Walk in the Woods’ constructs the story in a certain way to try to get the reader to accept his attitudes and values about how dangerous and death defying Earl V. Shaffer and other’s are in attempting to travel the trail. He uses the techniques of emotive language, unusual language and use of first hand accounts in the short story ‘A Walk in the Woods‘ . Where I come from, the vast land stretches on for miles, filled with dancing corn and wheat fields. Turn one direction and look at the clouds of dust rising off the gravel road, then turn the other way, that's about all there is to see here. A town of two stop lights. As you are driving, don’t blink, you may miss this little place. Some people may say there isn’t much to miss anyway, but I’d beg to differ. This is the place where I met and grew up with lifelong friends.
It is not true that the close of a life which ends in a natural fashion-
Walking through the woods never fails to clear my mind. After spending all day sitting in a stale classroom, filled with stress, confusion, and overwhelming responsibilities, taking a long stroll through the familiar woods behind my grandmother’s house lifts any worries that could ever weigh me down. I never wander through aimlessly. I always follow the trail of grass that has been deliberately cut down shorter than the rest, making it easier to tread through to the small creek at the end of the trail. The entire journey through the woods behind my grandmother’s house, there and back, first took on a whole new importance in my life during my junior year of high school.
Nope, this isn't going to be a sappy love story bound to replace the next New York Bestseller out there. It is merely a story of a girl that I became friends with nine years after I first met (and quite despised) her. She is Emily Gacovino.
We all grabbed our lawn chairs and cozied up next to the roaring red fire. I always sat a little too close, enough to where the fire burnt a hole straight through my favorite pair of flip-flops, assuring me to never make that mistake again. S’mores was all of our favorite bed time snack time and a perfect way to end the night. Every time I would roast my marshmallow until it became slightly brown, mushy, and not too hot in the center; then I 'd put it between two graham crackers and extra pieces of chocolate. One too many s’mores and a belly like later I laid back in my chair and listened as Nancy told us stories. Before going to bed Nancy told us about her favorite past times here as a child and how just like the little girl we saw fishing, she was also afraid of fishing. She told us stories about how much the campground has evolved since she was a child and how every year she promises to take us here and to keep it a tradition. At bedtime Alicia and I crawl into our tents and snuggle up in our warm sleeping bags. We talked to each other about how sad we felt that it was almost the end of summer, and how nervous we felt to start our freshman year of high school. However, our conversations ended when Nancy yelled at as from the other tent to keep quiet and go to bed. I’d fallen asleep that night to the sound of the fire crackling out and the crickets chirping
