Freemasonry This is about freemasonry specifically but can be juxtaposed on many other fraternal organisations. The functional approach to freemasonry appears obvious and positive. On the charitable aspect of the fraternity freemasonry donate $1-2 million per day. Whether this is the shriners' burn or crippled childrens hospitals or the Order of the Amaranth's fight to eradicate diabetes, freemasons see themselves as stewards and benefactors of the disadvantaged in society. Masonic rituals of initiation have brought men together from all walks of life to meet as equals in its lodges for centuries. Within the lodge both the prince and the pauper meet on the level. In the lodge all social distinctions disapear for all are brothers. This has helped facilitate communication and understanding between various social classes as well as inculcate profound lessons of morality into its members.
