Anne had the ability to talk to her sister but she felt that her sister was the golden child and did everything right. This is important because for the rest of Anne’s life she had to express herself through her diary until she was able to connect with Peter. Anne’s diary changed Anne life because she able to express herself without the worry of hurting her family. Kitty, the diary was Anne’s best friend and the only “person” that new all of her secrets. In addition, “I’m boiling with rage, and yet I mustn’t show it. I’d like to stamp my feet, scream, give Mummy a good shaking, cry, and I don’t know what else, because of the horrible words, mocking looks, and accusations which are leveled at me repeatedly every day” (Anne Frank). This shows that Anne is having a difficult time with her family while in hiding. Anne’s diary, Kitty, held Anne’s secrets while she was in hiding. Anne had a hard time dealing with her family and the Van Danns, she only had one way to express herself, through her diary.
