“Today I choose life. Everyday, when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain… To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it,” - Kevyn Aucoin. When you have freedom, you have a choice, a choice of whatever you want to do without anyone telling you otherwise. How would you feel with that privilege of what you do and how you feel, were taken away from you? Both Roosevelt’s “Four Freedoms” speech and Kennedy’s inaugural address talk about the importance of freedom. However, Roosevelt’s speech talks about their freedom being threatened. Whereas Kennedy’s speech talks about having our freedom and wanting to keep our freedom and how we are going to do so. Between these two speeches there are many similarities, however there are many differences as well. In this first speech, the “ Four Freedoms” speech, it was spoken by Theodore Roosevelt in the year 1941. At this time, the world was in complete turmoil Nazi Germany had just invaded Norway, Belgium, and lots of other European countries. At this time in 1941, our nation was being seriously threatened, ever since getting involved with wars in the European nations. Yet no one in the nation wants to go to war, cause if we go to war, we have a chance of losing our freedom that we value very much. As Roosevelt gave this speech, he sees people as having four freedoms, giving the name of the speech. He believes people should have the freedom of speech and expression, freedom of worship, freedom of want, and lastly freedom of fear. Roosevelt believes all people deserve those four freedoms and
