Facing the Giants (2006) merges both football and faith into an inspirational Christian film. Directed by and starring Alex Kendrick as Grant Taylor, this movie about a high school football team asks viewers, “Do you bring your best every day?” Facing the Giants is a movie that reminds its viewers, “Never Give Up, Never Back Down, Never Lose Faith.”
The two brothers who wrote, directed, and produced the movie are Stephen and Alex Kendrick, who are from Albany GA. Stephen works at Albany’s Sherwood Baptist Church as a senior associate pastor while Alex serves in the position of Associate Pastor of Media. The brothers founded Kendrick Brothers Production company after working very closely with their church’s own production company, Sherwood Pictures, where they wrote, directed and produced four Christian-based films.
The movie includes team members from the local school football team. Most of the people who worked on the movie were unpaid members of the Sherwood Baptist Church congregation. The church’s Sunday School classes arranged for food to be delivered. No official wardrobe was used. People wore their own clothes to help keep the costs down. The movie used unknown volunteers to write, direct, and produce the final product. For the game sequences, real area high school teams were used. The only external help they got came from a few expert filmmakers who showed them how to properly make the movie.
According to a story about the movie on the Creative COW.net site, writer/director Alex Kendrick acquired veteran cinematographer for NFL Films Bob Scott for the position of director of photography. Facing the Giants was shot with just one camera. Scott equipped the camera with a Pro 35 lens adapter and Panavision lenses. According ...

The townspeople have to now rely on the new coach Gary Gaines (Billy Bob Thornton), to motivate the other team members to be able to respect, step up their game, and improve quickly. During this process, racism has made it harder to have a success and be happy and the team has to overcome them as a family.

The film that I watched was called The Bad News Bears. When I watched this film years ago, as a young teen I just saw it as a story about two baseball teams. One team, the Yankees, that had a good coach and played exceptionally well together. The other team The Bad News Bears, was just that bad. The players appeared to be similar to that of a group of misfits. These were the kids that will usually were chosen last in their gym class or just about anything else pertaining to sports. The Yankees started off winning most of their games because that’s what they did, win. At times, winning at any cost. The Bad News Bears, however started in the wrong direction. They lost their first few games by large margins while the other teams in

Highlighting the theme of conflicting perspectives throughout Geoffrey Robertson's, 'The Trials Of Oz,' in particular his essays, The Romans in Britain and The Trials of Oz, is the bias nature of Geoffrey Robertson as he attempts to adopt his view of events, personalities and situations, to convince the reader on the validity of his argument. A perspective is a point of view, and a conflicting perspective is where two point of views clash. Similarly to this, is Jason Reitman's film'Thank You For Smoking' which is a satire of the perception of promoting smoking, but not to the level in which it is disregarded, as no character smokes on film.
Having the capability and knowledge to overcome adversity with dignity and pride is another strength in which I am proud of myself for acquiring. In my senior year of high school, I was bullied on my soccer team. A group of my teammates and their parents did not like my father as their assistant coach. This group had tried everything they could to remove to my father from this position. When they realized that all of their attempts had failed, they had resorted to finding ways of upsetting my father by targeting my sister and myself. It came to our attention that during a week a practice, this particular group was evaluating my sister and I and were deciding on who would be the better “target” to bully. My sister was the soccer player who

Something's that I went through that changed me and made me into the person I am today were some bad times and good times. Growing up I lived on Warren and I played football for the Detroit Titans. I had a stepsister and stepbrother that lived with me as siblings of my home. We did everything together as if we were blood. Playing football taught me to never give up no matter what the case was.
Despite the team’s losing records, my parents were always behind me giving me the will to push forward. In the beginning of my 8th grade year, I had the bad luck of breaking my wrist before the season started. While I would still attend every game, I wondered to myself why am I was putting myself through this torture of watching the game on the sidelines, but my dad would remind me still to “catch it with your eyes”. When my father stated that phrase to me, while I wasn't participating in football games due to my injury, I was completely
