How important is it to exemplify exceptional customer service within the Food Truck Industry?
In this unique industry, there are several components that correspond with exceptional customer service. However, the leading components of customer service all seem to start with health and overall truck appearance. Consumers look for these qualities in food trucks more than they do in conventional dine-in restaurants, mostly because they already expect the exact opposite. Competitors within the industry have usually found success by bringing these aspects to a visual level. This gives the customer something to observe, look back on, and remember for the next time that they visit. If a food truck is unable to bring these components forward to their customers, consumers will quickly associate the truck with being unhealthy, dirty, and even low quality. We want to avoid this reputation by any means possible. Obviously, customer service is important, but is it just as important to the college students that will be visiting our Mexican Cuisine Food Truck? According to the data, customer service is one of the most important factors in the eyes of consumers. That being said, it is important that our food truck pays extra close attention to this fact. If our food truck wants to compete, they must bring their service to a visual level. The best way to do this would be through updates (not advertisements) on Social Media. A strong social media presence is an overwhelming attribute in this industry, but users of these platforms see right through impersonal advertisements. Instead of trying to “win” the customer through constant advertising, we should focus on making the customer believe that they “won” by choosing our food
In the world of party chips and zesty dips, the Sensational Salsa company has created a new brand of salsa flavor. Having believe that they have created a culinary masterpiece, the company has already produced a mountains worth of their new salsa flavor. However, when they begin selling the salsa, they were shocked when the statistic showed that many children and adults did not enjoy the taste of their new flavor. Devastated by the news, the Sensational Salsa company deployed a questionable tactic to persuade more people into buying their salsa and change their attitude towards their product: they plan to pay off parents to lie on Facebook about how much they enjoyed the salsa. By employing this method of persuasive communication, the Sensational Salsa company will try to change the attitude the public has of their product both cognitively and affectively.

By accepting misguided information about the food that is being purchased from the marketers, consumers are letting the food industry shape buying patterns, even when it is not to their benefit. Pollan supports this claim when he writes, “With all the variety and constant stream of messages from the food industry and media, how can we make up our minds” (86).
