Fodo's Journey In The Hobbit

journey for Frodo begins, he doesn't think he's particularly gallant, yet he must complete his task as he is the only one well suited for it. Along the way, particularly before he and Sam are separated from the rest of the Fellowship, either he or one of the compelling individuals he encounters make constant commentary on his apparent lack of qualifications. He is not omniscient like Elrond; he is not valiant like Aragorn; he's not almighty like Gandalf. It is apparent that Frodo lacks the characteristics of heroism. Frodo is only a hobbit, gifted with common sense, a good heart, and determination to accomplish his task of heading to Mordor. “I know what I must do, it's just that... I'm afraid to do it.” (Tolkien. 139.) With Boromir's aggravated reaction, Frodo takes into consideration that the Ring will demolish everyone and everything, including Hobbiton. Frodo then begins to realize that he will have to solely depend on himself. As the pure goodness in him doesn't want his friends to get hurt. “Frodo has been touched by the weapons of enemy.” (Tolkien. 203.) In which Frodo sacrifices himself so Sam and Merry wouldn't get hurt. As the journey continues his determination to save his people and his friends is what allows him to follow through.

Sam Gamgee:
Sam Gamgee evolves throughout the novel. Sam's qualities of faithfulness, pride, and exuberance unveils his bravery and heroic qualities. Sam is displayed as a loyal servant in a hierarchical society; capable and hard working as he always put's up a fight for those who bad mouth his master. Sam's devotion to his Master is almost astonishing. “His love for Frodo rose above all other thoughts, and forgetting his peril he cried aloud: 'I'm coming Mr. Frodo!” (Tolkien...

Friendship
Throughout the novel we are introduced to four characters that will be inseparable friends; Frodo, Merry, Sam, and Pippin. The four individuals, accompany Frodo on his journey to salvage the Shire in which they come across many unexpected encounters. Though on the fellowship they come across monstrous beings; Sauron, the Dark Riders, the Balrog, and Saruman the White. The relationship between these Hobbits is questioned quite a lot, we see this through Frodo who says he doesn’t know who to trust. Though their friendship is weary it only grows powerful as the journey proceeds. Though the sole reason Frodo left the shire wasn’t due to friendship, it becomes one of the sole purposes. As it is Frodos friends that help him complete his journey. Throughout the book, all four characters sacrifice themselves for one another
