For my field activity to visit a local farmers market I decided to go to the oldsmar flea market located on 180 Race Track Rd N, Oldsmar, FL 34677. I decided to visit on October 1st from 3pm to 4:30 pm but the flea market is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 4:30 pm. When I first pulled up there was plenty of signs directing me to a parking lot in front of the entrance to the flea market. The parking lot consisted of acres of grass and you can pretty much park wherever you want. “there are more than 1200 vendor booths over a sprawling 20 acres-and plenty of free parking!”(HOME. (n.d.). Retrieved October 03, 2017, from http://oldsmarfleamarket.biz/) I arrived about an hour before the market closes and observed how empty it gets around this time. By the time I got inside only half of the shops were still open. It wasn’t a problem because I was still able to visit some of the shops that really interested me. …show more content…
The reason this shop caught my eye is because I collect old coins from all around the world. The shop had a huge selection of coins ranging from coins worth almost nothing to coins that cost over a hundred dollars. Not only can you buy coins but you can sell them or do what I did and show him pictures of my coins and ask him how much they are worth. The next shop that interested me was the reptile booth because it had a huge selection of reptiles and accessories. This interests me because I was once a snake owner and his shop showed me a wide variety of snakes for sale. I was even able to hold his baby albino ball python which was cool because it reminded me of my albino ball python when it was a baby. Once I finished talking to the man at the reptile booth it was about 4pm and realized that every store was closed and the flea market was about empty besides the occasional store owner cleaning up their booth before they
The problem behavior associated with individuals making bad food choices when presented with unhealthy food will need to be observed so that we may understand how to change this behavior as it is unhealthy and harmful to health overall. Are poor choices in different foods causing obesity? Making poor choices when it comes to food is an
When the lift doors opened at the sixth floor, a wave of dim light and buzzing voices greeted me. It was as if I'd taken the lift to a dark movie from the 70s. Facing me was the entrance to a supermarket selling all types of candy, weird foods, and random home items. Wondering what about the market attracted so many eyeballs and footfalls, I began walking around the floor, and then from floor to floor, observing the many stylistic and curious shops.
The sun had just set and all the street lights had begun to turn on to help see through the dark alleys. Just before we began to close the store something surprisin...

Despite the outbreak of the First World War, the store strived to give a great service to the public, giving a meaning to the famous phrase “business as usual” (Harry Gordon Selfridge, 1914). During the period of 1919 and 1924, the company started its first expansion in Oxford Street and was selling everything from make-up to toys. So far, over 15 million had shopped in the store.
Every year I get this feeling. The knots in my stomach are pulled tighter every time I pass through the narrow rock arch labeled with an aged sign reading, Welcome to the Delta County Fair Grounds. My eyes peer into the distance, and like every year, the park is full of commotion and energy. Kids swinging on the swings, teenagers showing off their new school clothes while sitting on the chipped green tables eating mazzo dogs, and the various types of food stands, complete the atmosphere of the Delta County Fair. The fair is a place where parents enjoy themselves by spending quality time with their families; it's an ending to the summer and a beginning to a new school year. Entering such grounds would usually make a person feel serenity and excitement, but it is a whole different story when I drive under the rock arch entryway.
Here I go again preparing to go to the store Stater Bros and checking my shopping list to see what to buy. As I walk through the store to my left, I can see the organic food and wind up at Services Deli while when going to my right. Buying prepared food saves me time cooking at home and the store has exclusive recipes for everyone. “Human begins walk the way they drive, which is to say that Americans tend to keep to the right when they stroll down shopping mall concourses or city sidewalks,” according to Malcolm Gladwell in his article “The Science of Shopping” (1). He explains how consumers’ shopping behaviors are affected by walking from scanning from left to the right and how it is easier for shoppers to do. Charles Duhigg, writer of The Power of Habit, says that “Realization came from a growing awareness of how powerfully habits influence almost every shopping decision. A series of experiments convinced marketers that if they managed to understand a particular shopper’s habits, they could get
For the location of my naturalistic observational study I chose a public park with a splash pad which I frequently visit with my daughter. Since this site is quite popular with locals at any given time of the day there are at least over a dozen people present. As the park is designed for the entertainment of children the age group of the people varies. There are young children accompanied by their parents and grandparents as well as teenagers in groups. Therefore the above discussed park proved to be the greatest preference for me to observe the behavior of people in a natural setting.
Unfortunately, many lack tact and dive into things head first without providing a foundation for the reader to stand upon. The excitement to begin imparting all they have learned is endearing but ultimately, it is poor strategy. In order to understand anything regarding naturalistic observation and its research value, one must first understand the practice itself; both humans and animals can be subjected to naturalistic observation. The logistical issues tend to be availability of participants, ensuring that their privacy is respected, and whether the observations will be performed where the observer can be seen. Both approaches are used in animal and human naturalistic observation research. Being hidden, researchers are confident that those observed are not acting differently because they are being observed. This method effectively reduces or removes any chance of reactivity and this is goal, ensuring validity by allowing the subject to act in its most authentic nature without the interference of an outside force. Though this is ideal, there are times when observers cannot hide, and in those instances they must collect data over a long enough period to deduce whether or not their presence is affecting the actions of their research subjects. Privacy concerns greatly limit the use of naturalistic observation to places that are generally accessible to the public in the context of human observation but not chimpanzee, so the subject greatly effects the methodology.
Thinking about normal social interactions and normal social behaviors, I think of comfortable. When I sit down with a friend, a usual routine is followed, “Hey, how are you, what’s new?” (e.g. My turn, your turn). These questions between my friend and I include eye contact, attention, and facial expression. Usually, I feel that I give my friend my undivided attention. Other normal characteristics include: remembering what the person has just said so a comment can be made, as well as each comment is appropriate and in relation to the current topic. Moreover, the duration between each question or comment is short.
Visual merchandising is a concept of presenting your retail space in an elegant way. It’s a channel for the retail house to create their own distinctive identity to develop a sense of their product’s character and define the themes of their range from its physical contours redefined by visual merchandising.

The phenomenon of impulse buying is becoming increasingly commonplace in developed countries. Our culture of consumption makes us less likely to resist temptation and consider the consequences before purchasing things. The impacts could be varied dramatically depended on where it takes place. For instance, the things that you purchase impulsively could be a bar of chocolate; however, it could also be a Louis Vuitton handbag and the consequences would be much severe. Hence, a lot of researchers are interested in studying the causes of this phenomenon in terms of different parameters such as age and gender. In relation to gender, researchers attempted to find whether there will be a gender difference in impulse buying and the possible
Shopping is something that has to be done whether you enjoy it or not to get essentials needed. We all go places where merchandize is being sold for a specific reason. Whether you go to the mall, shopping centers, or your local grocery store, you 'll always encounter many types of shoppers. Shopping isn’t always as fun as it sounds to everyone, but it is something we often do. This is the only way we get products we need, by personally buying them. You have three main shoppers including impulse buyers, list makers, and bargain hunters.
Once we were done sightseeing we decided to head to Time Square and do some shopping. Before we got to Time Square, we saw a flea market and decided to stop and look around. They had just random things from the sellers like knives to Indian tribe trinkets.
