Dean college students held “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” the author by Alan Ball at Performing Arts Studio on April 21st, 2017 director was Ali Angelone. “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” is a hilarious and funny comedy. The story takes place in an upstairs above of a bedroom at a Knoxville, Tennessee. Five women: Frances, Meredith, Trisha, Georgeanne, Mindy. They have very difference do not want to participate the wedding reception are hiding room. The women talk, laugh, argue, cry, they find common bonds and become friends.
The set design in the play “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” was one pinky bed, one white dresser, two doors, a CD player, jewelry box on a white shelf and there is a window between a door and a bed. Because of the room is girl’s room color was used pink, white and light purple. In addition, a Blanket pattern of the bed was drawn pink flowers, a curtain of the window was used lace and most of the furniture were used antique, these shows femininity. Themes are love friendship, jealousy, gender, insecurity. For example, insecurity is Trisha thinks she will never be with a good man. Friendship is all of the girls found that they have one thing in common which is that they hate Tracy. This helps the girls to realize that they have more in common then. After talking, drinking and smoking pot all day they start to like each other and they become friends. In addition, Frances is jealous of all of Tracy’s jewelry and her fancy wedding. She tries on all of Tracy’s jewelry. In “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” have a conflict Man vs. Man because they always arguing each other and then each character also have conflicts with themselves, for example, Meredith does conflict to herself she shows tough attitude but she has a lot of insecurity to hide. Trish conflict with herself because of about man, Georgeanne conflict herself because of her marriage fell down the reason for her
