The text defines personality as “an individual’s unique constellation of consistent behavioral traits.” (Weiten, W., Dunn, D., & Hammer, E. Y., p. 31) Personality is indeed unique. Every intelligent species has a personality and, much like snowflakes, no two personalities are completely alike. However, we have found ways to breakdown personalities into certain categories with The Five-Factor Model of Personality. With this model, Robert McCrae and Paul Costa found a simple way to categorize personalities through descriptions of certain behaviors such as extraversion, neuroticism, openness, agreeableness, and conscientiousness. (Weiten, W., Dunn, D., & Hammer, E. Y., p. 32) Individuals fall into each category to some degree. For example, extraversion is the broad way of describing personality traits such as outgoing, sociable, and friendly. Everyone has these extravert traits, but for some this trait is more prevalent than it is for others. For me, I took a Big Five Personality Test that I found online through a google search. Through this test, I scored high in openness to experience with an 87.5%, high is conscientiousness with an 80%, moderately extraverted with 55%, moderate in agreeableness with 67.5%, and low in neuroticism with 22.5%. With my high score for openness, I am flexible and …show more content…
As humans, I find that we want to have answers for everything and that we will go through whatever obstacles we have to in order to obtain them. This goes for understanding ourselves, too. Digging through research to find explanations for why I am the way that I am has always interested me, but I still believe that there are more questions in life than there are answers and that is just something that I need to accept. However, I do not think that I will ever stop trying to find them. It is just part of my personality to look for the
Personality is the individual differences in characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. To me, personality means uniqueness. It is what sets us all apart from one another. Personality psychologist has coined five different traits into the Big Five. It consists of extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. Extraverts are people who are relatively sociable and outgoing while on the opposite end individuals who are introverts are people who would much rather enjoy the company of close friends and family. People who are high in agreeableness are more likely to be trustworthy. Those who are high in conscientiousness are goal-oriented. Individuals high in neuroticism
Psychologists defined personality as that make people uniquely themselves, to be all-inclusive characteristics, helped people appreciate the challenging environment of each individual Cervone & Pervin (2013). For example, we often strive to maintain a logic of comprehensive knowledge and reliability in one behavior. Next, biologically a person with a distinctive physiological, temperamental,

Finally, when it comes to the Negative Emotionality personality section, my percentile is 67. I’m a little bit more nervous/High Strung than Calm/Relaxed.
In reference to the knowledgeable Helson and Mitchell, personality is a hard subject to solidify due to the nature of it (1978). Many personality theorists have tried to pinpoint how to accurately identify personality but, W.T. Norman’s approach to it takes a simpler route in deciding what personality type someone could fall into. He developed a system called the 5-factor model. It includes broad traits such as openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism / stability.
five factor theory is a fairly recent proposal and has its basis in earlier work,
I was also bossy to my friends who came to my parents. I was always leading a team of a few children in doing some activities, some which were allowed and others which were not. One time I heard my neighbor say that I was gregarious. Later I learned that I was able to relate to many people because of the number of the kids I always had around me. I enjoyed the company of the family, friends, and schoolmates.
After completing this personality test and reviewing the results, I found that the overall scoring accurately described me in most areas. The Big Five Personality test scores in five different areas involving openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. Openness, the first area of the personality test, is described as a person’s ability to think in abstract, complex ways. In this section, I scored a 70% which means that I am moderately open to experience. People who are creative, intellectual and adventurous tend to score higher, whereas people who are dull, practical and more focused tend to score lower.
Personality is a branch of scientific discipline that studies temperament and its variation among people. It is a dynamic and a set of characteristics possessed by their atmosphere, cognitions, emotions, motivations and behaviours in various things. Personality conjointly refers to the pattern of thoughts, feelings, social adjustments and behaviour consistently exhibited over time that powerfully influences one’s exceptions, self-perceptions, values and attitudes. It also predicts human reactions to different folks, problems and stress.
Personality is massive part of an individual’s identity. Our personalities dictate our patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting. An individual’s personality exposes them to predispositions and habits that influence their actions and lives. Early on, personality assessments consisted of physical features ranging from head shape and facial characteristics to body type. In today’s world, personality assessments are mainly based around traits. Traits are simply descriptions of one’s habitual patterns of behavior, thought and emotion. The most popular personality assessment is the Five-Factor Model, also known as The Big Five. This model allows us to describe people based on the five main traits/dimensions. These traits are extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience. Each of these five traits measures a different aspect of one’s personality. Extraversion is based on one’s level of engagement with the world,
Different people describe the word ‘personality’ differently. Martin et al. (2010,p.610) describes personality as a “particular pattern of behavior and thinking that prevails across time and situations, and differentiates one person from another”. According to Mullins and Christy (2013,p.136), they explain that Personality may be perceived as “consisting of stable characteristics that explains why an individual behaves a certain way. Independence, conscientiousness, agreeableness and self-control are all examples of personality characteristics”. Mullins and Christy (2013, p.136) further explain that we can only identify and understand a person’s personality from listening, watching and observing them. For instance, an independent person may show independence characteristic by demonstrating a strong sense of self-sufficiency. It would be expected that this individual would not be dependable on other people around him and if this is established, it can support the characteristic being a consistent part of the person’s behavior. Individuals are therefore generally consistent in the way they respond to situations. At...
For this assignment, I was able to use the Big Five Personality Test. The Big Five Personality Test uses a statistical skill which is referred as factor analysis to find the result of the personality. The Big Five Test uses a model called OCEAN which is the acronym for personalities such as; openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
After taking the Big Five Personality Test I’ve concluded that it is a fairly accurate assessment of my personality. 1) On Openness to Experience/Intellect I ranked at the 53 percentile, with the description that I don’t typically seek out new experiences. I would agree with this assessment. While I am somewhat creative, I am no artist. It takes me more time to do something creative than something analytical, but I do still like to be creative on occasion.
The Five-Factor Model of Personality is a system used in order to describe an individual’s personality traits. By requiring said individual to answer a series of questions, this test is able to decipher the traits that are most likely evident within their life. The Five-Factor Model of Personality test gives the test subject a series of situational options. Using the subject’s responses, psychologist match the answers to the personality in which best relates. A highly accurate description of ones’ personality can be easily configured by using the Five-Factor Model of Personality by testing either high or low in the following areas; openness to experience, extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
With regards to this question, l will absolutely rate myself high on this Big Five personality dimensions/traits since l know that customers, colleagues and other employees knows me better than l can actually say more about myself. Our personalities are what distinguish us from each other beyond our appearance; without them, we would all behave and react in the same way. Personality is the reason we are outgoing or introverted, persistent or blaze, and anxious or calm. We each have different levels of these competing characteristics that make us unique. But why are personalities so varied? Personality is determined by an array of factors from genetic and biological to the personal experiences and decisions we have faced from the day we are born. The complexity of our personalities cannot be simply explained, and for this reason there exists many different theories of how it’s developed and personality is still deeply under study.
