Look back to our observation result, people love to post their body physique on social media which actually is reflecting the culture of gymnos ( means naked in greek) but since the technology had created and it's phenomenon appears in different form. Working out is a act of narcissism as well. Since gymnasium is an art, it required appreciation of the hard-work of the creator, thats why people keep posting the workout selfie and people who go to workout can gain confident as they see themselves as an unique masterpiece, it can show off to people how great they

In his essay, “Celebrity Bodies,” Daniel Harris asserts that the majority of Americans would be healthier if they strove to be just like the celebrities they adore and seek perfection in their appearance. While it is true that many Americans could benefit from an increased amount of exercise and motivation to get in shape driven by the flawless physiques of famous people, such intense concentration on personal image and appearance can actually be extremely harmful. No person is perfect, and putting so much worth into looks and how people perceive one another can lead someone to being depressed and unhappy with him or herself. Exercise and fitness should be emphasized in the American
Athletics were an expression of the philosophical, religious and civic values that were at the very heart of Greek culture. In the world of the ancient Greeks, well-educated individuals were expected to be balanced mentally, spiritually, and physically (http://www.mediaconcero.com/olympic/olympia/ideal_o.php, September 27, 2004). It was felt that athletics aided in the creation of such an individual. Athletic events during this period were not simply displays of physical prowess, but an integration of the facets of Greek culture.

Trans theoretical Model is a health model that focuses on the individual who is ready to create new healthier habits. The theory has been widely used by the health professional to treat health behaviors such as smoking cessation, eating disorder, and physical activity. According to the process of change, an individual who received appropriate intervention is most likely to become successful. There are five stages including contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, maintenance, and termination. Pre-contemplation is where the individual has no intention to change a health behavior. Contemplation occurs if the individual thinks about moving forward, but does not exactly know where to begin. A preparation occurs where the individual who
The most effective way is a campaign promoting healthy body images for all athletes. This campaign would focus on exercising, healthy eating, healthy body weight, the up and downsides of dieting, and would even focus on having positive people in your life. For example, having a positive, person-oriented coaching style rather than a negative, performance-oriented coaching style can make quite a difference. Also, social influence and support from teammates with healthy attitudes towards size and shape. Having coaches who emphasize factors that contribute to personal success such as motivation and enthusiasm rather than body weight or shape is essential to prevent gymnasts from facing the unrealistic body images. And lastly, it is important for coaches and parents to educate, talk about and support the changing female body as it matures. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has brought together experts on this topic to exchange knowledge to protect the health of female athletes as best as possible. They created the four “Hungry for Gold” videos which are an educational tool aimed at athletes, parents, coaches and support staff, as well as administrators, informing them about the female athlete triad as well as the related health implications. Through the experiences of Anezka, Aiko, Tochi, Jesse and Akeyo featured in the “Hungry for Gold” videos, viewers can learn about

First I’m going to focus on how the media destroys people motivation by displaying misleading photos in their advertisements. Most gyms, workout facilities, and athletic wear clothing get models that are very physically fit to advertise their company in their commercials which is understandable because you do want the best to advertise your product. But when using people that look like they have been in the gym working out for over ten years, it can be very discouraging to the person that is just trying to start working out. And even more discouraging most gyms will use models that use supplements that help improve their body size and strength. These photos give people the false impression that if they work out hard enough they can achieve the results as the photos they are forced to stare at every day. What a lot of people fail to realize is a lot of times ...
All in all, the rise of the fitness industry has impacted almost everyone in America, whether it means being more health conscious, body conscious, or fitness-a-phobic. This new fitness movement, if it continues growing at the rate it has been, will keep coming out with innovative ways to motivate the unmotivated into leading more active lifestyles. Ultimately this will lead to an American public that enjoys longer, healthier lives.

“Do you even lift bro?” has become the new slang phrase in this period where fitness has become a popular trend across the globe. It has become apparent that fitness, for the most part, dominates many aspects of social media – from infomercials on the best workout videos to the plethora of “how to” fitness videos on YouTube. However, the cause of this fitness boom has been debated for quite some time. Many people assume that the rise in fitness occurred because of its correlation to longevity, but I believe that fitness became popularized through social media. Through the help of celebrity-athletes and the advancement of social media outlets, the public’s perception of fitness (mainly aesthetics) changed from being only for the select few to the obtainable goal of the average citizen.
Researchers have found that most males who work out frequently do so to build body muscle and to escalate cardiac health but most women who work out do so to drop weight and to alter the figure of their bodies in order to increase their desirability. But these criterions have a downside for seemingly perfect people as well. When you get away with the natural passed society standards, you tend to sway from the true talents you possess. Traits of bordering oneself to obsession can be found among beautiful women. They relish their looks and take all the advantage they can get
It has been a couple years and I decided for this assignment I would go to the gym, specifically the Waukee YMCA at one of the busiest times 9 am on Tuesday August 29, 2017. The gym is not usually the place I like to go. It’s the place that I think people who are already in shape go to, like jocks or what most people call “meat heads” you know the guys that workout so much that they look like they don’t have a neck as if their heads grew straight from their shoulders. I look at the gym for people like myself to go to that are starting their fitness routines again, the ones who are trying to get back into shape, honestly that is what home DVD
