The fire in The Lord of the Flies symbolizes hope and personifies Ralph’s spirit and character. In the novel, The Lord of the Flies by William Golding, Ralph righteous character and perseverance is reflected unto what the fire symbolizes and personifies in the story. “There’s another thing. We can help them find us. If a ship comes close to the island they may not notice us. So we must make smoke at the top of the island. We must make a fire.” (pg 33).
