The film “Finding Forrester” corroborates that a small action is capable of huge changes. In the movie, Jamal was dared to go to William Forrester’s house. This small prank greatly affected both of their lives. They ended up developing a close bond because of their interest in writing. William helps Jamal with writing and Jamal helps Forrester realise the importance of his life. This film refers more to Jamal helping Forrester find himself than Jamal finding Forrester because with the help of Jamal, Forrester gave his life a second try and started writing again.
Some people might argue that this movie was about Jamal finding Forrester because Jamal’s writing got better after the help of Forrester. However, Jamal was already a bright student. He had been selected to a good school with an excellent writing program, his writing was bound to improve. Forrester however, wouldn’t have been the same if it wasn’t for Jamal. Jamal helped Forrester to get out of his comfort zone. Jamal was Forrester’s first human contact in years. Forrester had started to be more social. They had developed a special relationship. Forrester decided that it was time he went back to his homeland, Scotland. He wanted to be around the people he grew up with. This wouldn’t have been possible if Jamal hadn’t gotten Forrester out of his room. After moving to Scotland, Forrester continued his writing. Teaching Jamal had a big impact in Forrester’s life. Forrester wrote a book which was inspired by teaching Jamal. Forrester saw how big of an impact his words had. Jamal came into his life disguised as a student but Jamal also taught a few things to Forrester. What started as a prank turned into a special bond. A bond that changed Forresters life
The characterization of Finding Forrester is the key to help the reader understand more of each character and how they battle through
(p. 154-155). He was successful from this situation like one of Korean men in Mr. Charlie’s story. I enjoyed about my favorite scene in the book that was truck accident because it proves one of Jamal’s great determinations that sometimes he can be good leadership in helping African Americans and others who need support and need to be protected from a crisis. I learned the book about Jamal’s life between 1960’s and 1980’s that he joined the Black Panther at his young age. It is based on violation, crime, judicial court and jail.
At the end of the movie rides off on his bike with plans to go back to his home country, Scotland. By the end of Finding Forrester Jamal and William have become good friends. Even his parents knew he was different because out of everyone around his neighborhood he was the only one who attended a white school. Then when he attended a black school he wanted to learned, but got caught in society. Prison was a good place for him because to occupy his time he start reading and learning. In the film Finding Forrester, their was a big conflict between Jamal and Mr. Crawford. Mr. Crawford and Jamal had their difference though out the film. Their were lots of problems that Mr. Crawford had against Jamal. The conflicts were based Jamal race, and his intelligence.
Forrester finds his courage by being outgoing and visiting the school to speak to them, while Jamal finds his courage differently by setting himself outside of the stereotype. Jamal is a very smart boy but he also plays sports; thus, he is outside of the stereotype. Jamal goes to his basketball practice at the school and meets Heartwell. Heartwell is a classmate who plays on the basketball team with Jamal. From the start, Heartwell and Jamal did not get along.

Near the beginning of Finding Forrester, Jamal and his friends are confused by the behavior of “The Window” - who later is discovered to be the author, Forrester himself, in hiding. Because Jamal and his friends are confused by Forrester’s habits - such as peering out of his corner apartment window to the basketball court the young boys haunt and the fact that they have never seen the hermit, pale from decades without seeing the sun, go outside- they find it difficult to trust him. Jamal and Forrester begin to grow closer, though, after his friends dare him to sneak into Forrester’s apartment, take a picture, and steal something. The two begin to grow close - though not without a few bumps in the road - and, as Rob Brown observes, “Forrester brings out Jamal’s intelligence, and Jamal brings Forrester back into life . . .” (Movielocity, 2001, p. 2), both Forrester and Jamal come to count on each other. In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the protagonist, Gene Forrester “battled” within himself to find “a separate peace” and in this process directed his emotions at Phineas, his roommate. Forrester and Phineas formed the illusion of a great companionship, but there was a “silent rivalry” between them in Forrester’s mind. Self deceptions in Forrester led him to believe that Phineas was “out to get him” (Forrester). Subconsciously Forrester jounced the limb of the tree and forced Phineas to fall and break his leg. Phineas found out the truth of his “accident” with the help of Leper Lepellier and Brinker Hadley, who were friends that attended Devon High School. ...nd genuine kindness extend further than just treating the President of the United States like a normal person, even though Forrest Gump is ignorant of the ‘issues’ of different people. At the University of Alabama, two African American students are granted acceptance after an enormous ordeal on blacks going to colleges with whites because of the insane amount of racism the United States of America had. As the two African American students made their way up the staircase, one dropped a book and Forrest rushed through police officers and rioters to pick up the book and hand the book to the colored student who dropped it. Forrest’s ignorance definitely contributes to his selflessness and generosity towards people who are different (during the time period in American history the movie was based on), however, it is one of his traits that makes him a true unexpected hero.
