Who hasn’t heard of the creature known as Bigfoot? I know that most people around the world have heard of Bigfoot and the many variations of his name. He is known as Sasquatch, the Hairy Man, Bigfoot, Yeti, and even as the Yowie. What really is Bigfoot though? Is he some crazy science experiment gone right or wrong? Is he some creature created by the processes of evolution? What is Bigfoot? I have watched movies and shows about Bigfoot. Most of them made fun of the creature by either running it over with their car, or capturing it. Some shows take this Bigfoot hunting seriously, such as Finding Bigfoot and the Ten Million Dollar Bigfoot Bounty. Shows like these search for real, hard evidence about the existence of the creature to prove to people who do not believe in him that he is real. Bigfoot is a very mysterious creature and I have always been interested in him. I have heard about Bigfoot all my life through many sources and I thought it would be a fun topic to research. I want to find out more information on Bigfoot.
What I Know
I know that Bigfoot is a creature that has been around for many years. I had completed a research assignment on the Australian Aborigines, one of the oldest religions to this day. One of their sacred animals is the Yowie. The Yowie is the Australian version of the Bigfoot, and one of the first ever records of it. Many people are believers in Bigfoot around the world and I want to find out why they believe that he is real. I know that there have been Bigfoot sightings around the world, but some places have many more sightings than others. Bigfoot is often described as a huge, hairy, man-like creature whose size is much greater than most people. Bigfoot is often known for his trademark though, his big ...

...ll the information about Bigfoot and either decide whether or not to believe that he exists or not. Now when I watch TV shows about Bigfoot, I understand how and why people believe in him. I will find out more information about Bigfoot as new information develops over time. Currently, there is not much information about him out there because he is a relatively new creature in the United States. This research has a tremendous impact in my life. It shows just how enjoyable strange topics can be for research. It is fun to think outside of the box and just go with the first thing that pops into my head. With this knowledge, I will be able to partake in conversations involving Bigfoot, whether they be scholarly or a joke. I can share my new knowledge with many people who bring up this topic. All in all, Bigfoot was a fun topic to research and I am glad that I picked it.
The experience happens in the middle of the night in Orick, California when the encounter of Bigfoot took place, in the house of two men and their children. The house was surrounded by the forest, woods, and there were not many people around.
One of the most well-known urban legends told is the story of Bigfoot. Much of the research has shown that there are several names assigned to the mammoth ape. According to Napier (1973), Bigfoot would be the creature found mostly in Northwest America, Sasquatch would be a creature named in British Colombia, the 49th parallel in the north-west states of America and Northern California, and the Abominable Snowman, or the Yeti would be the creature named in the Himalayas. Of course, “Wild Man” and “Savage” have also been names used to identify the creature. There’s been thousands of sightings across the world, but there have also been many misidentifications where those who think they have seen Bigfoot have really just seen an ordinary animal or person. Arment (2006) states an individual’s perception may color the eyewitness account. Such misidentifications include: hermits, fugitives, refugees, bears, gorillas, and simply people making up stories or rumors. In addition to sightings, there have been photos, videos, movies, and TV shows that strongly indicates the possibility of the existence of this creature. Though there is much evidence from sightings, myths, and recordings that Bigfoot exists, there is also much proof that it could all be a hoax. Incorrect sightings have led skeptics to argue over the existence of this being stating Bigfoot is really just a fable. So one has to ask oneself, does Bigfoot really exist or is it just another urban legend?
Question at Issue: Is Bigfoot simply a legend, or is it just an elusive freak of nature?
Many Native American tribes described the Bigfoot as cannibals, mountain devils, kidnappers, rapists, and thieves. Most Native American tribes stayed out of the Bigfoot’s territory, avoiding contact if possible. Some tribes have interaction with the Bigfoot. One example of this was in California, where the Hoopa Indians actually camped with the Bigfoot. Unfortunately, the young Bigfoot males would occasionally rape a Hoopa woman, causing elders from both tribes to agree that a split was necessary.
Is Bigfoot really a mythical creature roaming the world? Nobody can answer that question, not if our scientist today. Bigfoot is a large, hairy, apelike creature resembling a yeti, there are found in Northwestern America. There is another name that Bigfoot is called and it’s Sasquatch. Some people believe in Bigfoot and try to find it. Others who think it’s a ridiculous idea to be searching for something that no one can find. There are others who are in the middle and others who just don’t care. There are evidence from films, eyewitnesses, photographs, hair sample, and footprints.

The existence of Bigfoot isn’t quite certain to be real with the numerous accounts of acclaimed sighting and physical evidence that has been laid on the table for researchers to decipher. From my standpoint, Bigfoot is a cryptozoological creature that has yet to be explained that I’m not for certain about. Radford explained the facts whether the existence of Bigfoot is real or just a hoax. It’s just a matter of time when and where this mythological being will proven to be a new life form amongst us.
The “Doing Nothing” experiment exposed me to a new way of seeing things and also a new level of awkwardness. Standing still in a public place for ten minutes, with people walking past you and starring you down like you are some crazy person is quite the experience. You begin to understand that people take great notice of anything that seems out of the ordinary to them. This is because our society has developed and enacted so many societal norms in today’s day and age.
This provides powerful insight into the role Bigfoot like creatures played in Native American cultures. Some tribes were not afraid of the creatures, considering them kind and helpful, while peacefully coexisting with them. Other tribes found them to be more violent and dangerous creatures. The fact that these tribes called the animals Stick Indians or Brush Indians seems to suggest that the creatures were simply other tribes they did not get along with opposed to a village of mythical creatures. Some examples of Bigfoot like creatures in Native American tribes include the Chiye – Tanka, the Lofa, the Maxemista, and the popular Sasquatch. The Chiye – Tanka was the Bigfoot like creature of the Sioux Indians (“Native American,” n.d.). This animal
Bigfoot and its related primates have existed in cultures around the world. In North America, the legend of Bigfoot is believed to have been part of Native American belief for hundreds of years. There are different names for this ape-like creature like Bigfoot, Sasquatch – the term Sasquatch comes from the meaning “hairy giant.”. Also, Bigfoot can be called Swamp Ape, and the list goes on. This questioned animal has appeared mysteriously in nature from time to time.
Maybe, one time you were camping in the woods. You saw something, lurking in the woods. You saw something unlike anything you’ve ever seen before in your life. You think it looked like the legendary Bigfoot. You know, the one you watched those Animal Planet shows on. You didn’t really believe what those guys were saying. You thought those guys were just talking crazy for thinking it was real. Maybe one time, you were on the lake. You saw something that looked like a log, swimming across the lake. You thought nothing of it. You didn’t think it might have been the Loch Ness Monster. It could have been the one they have the History Channel documentaries on. Maybe you saw a coyote looking thing attacking a farmers goat. You didn’t think much of it, thought you would be crazy to think it was a supposed “Chupacabra”. Cryptid animals have been a big part in American culture, from making TV shows about them to being a cultural phenomenon.
In order to prove to everyone this creature is real, stories should be told in order to persuade them. The first sightings of this creature started around 1995, when a man was noticing his animals acting strange on his farm in Puerto Rico. He really didn’t understand why they were acting strange that night, although they seemed very afraid of something. The next morning he woke up to find his two goats dead, and the next couple nights he began his search for what has done it. One night he saw a creature that was the perfect description of what is known as the Chupacabra today. The name Chupacabra literally means “goat-sucker” so from that day on the search had began and is still continuing in Central America and even the US (“Unique Facts about Mexico: Chupacabra”). This is just one of the countries that have been affected by this animal and something tells me it isn’t going to be the last.
Bigfoot For over 150 years man has been troubled by one great mystery, a mystery that has baffled all who have witnessed it and all who have tried to solve it. This mystery is commonly known as Bigfoot, a tall, hairy man/ape who lurks in the woods in almost every country on this planet. Some say it is just an ape, some believe it is a man in costume, and others are true believers in this hairy phenomenon. For more than a decade and a half, this creature of myth has caused enormous contradictions in the field of science, bringing about one question. Does Bigfoot exist in the world?
Through this research I have learned how serious eating disorders are and that it is very important to identify the problem and then to get help because it is possible to cure them. I enjoyed the process of learning about eating disorders in detail and do not wish to have chosen another topic. I understand eating disorders better now and maybe I can help my friends through their recovery better.
The most modern legend was told around 1933 when a road was being constructed by the shore of Loch Ness. On an April afternoon, a young couple was driving by the lake and claimed to see a large animal on the surface of the water. The sighting was later recorded in Inverness Courier, and thus the legend spread. The article sparked public interest during the spring of 1933, and hit an all time high when a another couple reported seeing the creature on land.
