Indoor volleyball is a lively, fast-paced game. Matches generally compete to the best of five sets. six players are vital on the court at all time six substitutes are allowed per set. Two teams compete against one another, one either side of the net. The net is not allowed to be touched by the players. Players rotate after a set, the team that is serving will be the team to rotate. The game relies highly on the anaerobic energy system, though aerobic endurance is important for recovery between points, stamina and tolerance to heat. (AIS Sports Nutrition, 2013) an effective method of improving performance in volleyball is via the use of a training plan. For example to improve a player spiking skill they need to improve leg muscle, with the use …show more content…

Fitness defines the ability to perform physical activity, and encompasses a wide range of abilities. Each sport and activity requires a specific set of skills, and so being fit for a sport requires a specific skill set. Being fit for one sport does not necessarily make you fit for another. Although it is not all clear cut, fitness is generally divided into specific fitness categories or components and each can be tested and trained individually (topend sport, 2013) Fitness components include muscular endurance, power speed, agility, flexibility, balance and cardiovascular

Power is very important for volleyball because it is the ability to exert a maximal force in as short a time as possible, as in accelerating, jumping and throwing implements. (topend sport, 2013) power was tested via they three test mention previously. My induvial results suggest that my strength are standing long jump and my vertical jump suggesting that I have good lower body strength. My weakness is basketball throw suggesting my upper body strength is not as good. Our group rating for each test were overall, vertical jump average, standing long jump- average and basketball throw good. Our group has focused on improving power because by improving power all our results for each test will see improvement. We are choosing to improve power to improve the necessary skills to play volleyball most effectively. We will be working on activities such as squats, lunges and
There are three main energy systems used in a game of touch football which consist of the creatine phosphate (ATP PC) system, lactic acid system and the aerobic system. Each system plays a vital role during game play. Every muscle in your body requires energy to perform all movements, and to do this, the energy is produced by the breakdown of a molecule called adenosine triphosphate (ATP). ATP is found in all cells which is a chemical form of muscular activity and performs mostly all functions in the human body. It contains 3 phosphate groups and adenosine. ATP is stored in the muscles and lasts for approximately 10-30 seconds. Carbohydrates, fats and proteins, are all producers of ATP from the food we eat; however Creatine Phosphate is also a high energy compound producer found in the cells. These three chemical reactions are conducted to continue muscular work. The first system used in a game of touch football is the ATP PC system. This system is stored into the muscles and used in short durations for up to 10 seconds and doesn’t not require oxygen therefore being anaerobic. ATP lasts approximately 3 seconds, and then Creatine phosphate (CP) will continue until all ATP PC energy is used up. The use of ATP is high intensity and would usually be used in a 50m sprint or a pass in touch. Once the CP energy is used up the body then switches to the lactic acid system. This is because of the breakdown of glucose, resulting in the production of lactic acid. The lactic acid system an anaerobic energy system, which lasts for approximately 30 seconds to 2 minutes, and is the conversion of glycogen to glucose. In relation to a game of touch football, the lactic acid system could be used during a quick wruck, as the movements required are a...
There are a wide range of fitness components that contribute to successful tennis performance. More than one is usually important. Health component • Muscular Strength Tennis is a very effective an impact game, and each time you strike or run for the tennis ball your body absorbs serious impact. To stand this force you need both upper and lower body strength.
There are different types of muscle because each sport has various needs. “Power endurance is typically characterized by intense, repeated efforts for a relatively short period of time (less than 30 seconds)”(1). Sports such as sprinters, wrestlers, fencers and tennis players need to produce powerful movements and repeat them with several times with little to no rest. This training involves lifting about 15-30 reputations of moderate loads, about 50%-70% 1RM per lift.
In the novel, Hamid also explores Changez’s relationship with Erica as a metaphor of the challenges faced by South Asian Americans in their efforts to assimilate and “become” American through one, the morning after Changez came down for breakfast, he and Erica were the only two there and so they had a conversation. In their conversation, Erica asked him about his home life in Pakistan, to which Changez replied,
Volleyball is a great sport, it is very fun!! The attire for volleyball is a jersey, shorts, knee pads and special volleyball shoes. Some equipment that you need to play volleyball with, first of all you need a net, ball, 6 players on a court, court, referee,
Sports Conditioning and Strengthening Sports performance strength and conditioning targets specific training goals to help you improve in your performance in the sport you play for your specific position. This differs for other exercise programs and regular work outs if when conditioning for an exact sport you
The denotative meaning of physical fitness is “the ability of the body to carry out daily physical activities without getting out of breath, sore, or overly tired” (Lesson 16). Physical fitness can be achieved by first devising a fitness program. In order to do so the resting heart rate (RHR) and target heart rate (THR) must first be determined.
of physical fitness as a whole. It is not enough to periods between your workouts.
Illustrating the arrangement of players mathematically requires that one understand the standard dimensions of a volleyball court. According to Lithio and Webb (2006), a standard volleyball court resembles a rectangle, which is 59 ft long by 29 ft, 6 in. wide. A net, centrally placed, separates the court into two squares. Stretching from the end of every side of the volleyball court is an area from which the ball is served, at least 6 ft wide. A player can stand in any region of this area to serve (consider figure 1) (Lithio & Webb, 2006).
Maximal strength refers to the highest force that the neuromuscular system can perform during one maximum voluntary contraction (1RM). Power is the product of strength and speed. Maximal strength influences power performance; an increase in maximal strength is usually connected with an improvement in relative strength and therefore with an improvement in power. A significant relationship has been observed between 1RM and acceleration and movement velocity. This maximal strength/power performance relationship is supported by jump test results as well as in 30m sprint results. By increasing the available force of muscular contraction in appropriate muscle groups, acceleration and speed may improve in skills critical to Gaelic football such as turning, sprinting and changing pace. High levels of maximal strength in upper and lower limbs may also prevent injuries. (Stolen et al.
Topical Essential Questions: 1) How do the components of fitness relate to my everyday activities? 2)What kinds of activities will improve my fitness level? 3) What are some skills I need to be physically fit and active?
This research task requires that, through participation in skill learning and game play during the volleyball unit we have been required to observe and analyse the characteristics of skilled performers; receive feedback on weaknesses in technique and develop and participate in training activities that could correct these weaknesses.
Physical fitness is usually applied to the framework most typically associated with two classifications: Basic fitness (a condition associated with health as well as well-being) and specialized fitness (the capability to carry out specific sports activities or work-related skills). Physical fitness is actually a condition associated with health with lower risk of early illnesses and the vitality to participate in a wide range of physical pursuits.
Research from the University of California San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography said that species in the ocean consume a projected 12,000 to 24,000 tons of plastic every year in the Pacific Ocean (Nall, 2014). Pollution of recyclable materials in the oceans is one of the leading causes of why some marine species are nearing extinction. Many authors of articles and books analyzing this topic tend to agree that pollution of our oceans is a problem. The future of this problem is where their ideas tend to differ. The following four literature reviews attempt to demonstrate and support my belief that pollution is getting worse in the ocean and more marine life ecosystems are being affected, but there are things that we as humans can do to change this. Imagine a world where we didn’t have to constantly worry about the vicious cycle of humans affecting animals and then animals in turn affecting us through consumption.
