Playing with fidget spinners is fun until they become a distraction. Schools are starting to ban fidget spinners because kids don't pay attention to class and worry about playing, and staring at the fidget spinner. Many kids bought fidget spinners to play with them in school thinking it will help them focus in school. When they first get them they play with them they see how long they can spin them, as fast as they can. They bring them to school thinking they will just use them to spin, but in the end watch them as they spin. This gets them into trouble with the teachers, and it gets the kids not to pay attention. Some teachers even take away their spinners because they cause too many distractions and make too much noise. Some kids need to
Sherlock Holmes was not accountable for the demise or killing of Dr. Grimsby Roylott. The story “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” was written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Dr. Roylott had intimidated Sherlock Holmes after his daughter, Helen Stoner, had gone to Holmes about a whistle she heard. Helen Stoner appointed Holmes and Watson to assist her from mysterious happenings. Sherlock Holmes could not have anticipated that Dr. Roylott was sitting in a chair in which the ventilator was right on top of the chair. Even though Dr. Roylott used to be a generous, polite man, he was now an ignoble and arrogant man.
In 1893, Queen Lili’uokalani of Hawaii gave up her throne to the United States of America. About five years after in 1898, Hawaii was officially annexed and became a part of the U.S.A. During this time, the Hawaiian people were bitter and mournful as they watched the foreigners slowly take over their kingdom. Many foreigners came to Hawaii to achieve one goal, to increase the power of foreigners and decrease the power of Native Hawaiians. The kingdom of Hawaii was overthrown with the use of force and was unethically taken. Although Hawaii received benefits that were mainly in their economy, it still does not make up for the wrongful taking of the Hawaiian kingdom.
It’s a Sunday afternoon and the whole family is over at grandmother’s house playing a fun game of pickup baseball until they realize they do not know how to hit a baseball. Luckily it is a rather simple process that can easily be taught and learned.
By universal definition, "sport" is listed as "an activity involving physical exertion and skill that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often undertaken competitively." Football, basketball, baseball, soccer and other primary activities have always been concretely defined as sports in society. However, one of the most physically demanding activities is constantly forgotten when it comes to the realm of sports- dance. Dance requires a tremendous amount of training and creates an aura of competition in which people compete to be the best, win, and take home the trophy- just like in traditionally accepted sports. These sports, however, do not possess an element of psychological health threats that some competitive dancers unfortunately must account for due to the emphasis placed on physical appearance.
Riker’s Island may be closing its door, but it certainly won’t be anytime soon. The plan to close is contingent on minimizing the jail population from 10,000 to 5,000 the doing of which could take up to ten years. Furthermore, the plan would include the resurrecting of modern jails in all five boroughs of New York. With the closure imminent politicians have already voiced concerns of NIMBY, the theory of “not in my backyard” and have begun issuing statements protesting the “new Riker’s.” This is especially true for Staten Island where Congressman Dan Donovan has been quoted as claiming that
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James has been the cause of many debates about whether or not the ghosts are real, or if this is a case of a woman with psychological disturbances causing her to fabricate the ghosts. The story is told in the first person narrative by the governess and is told only through her thoughts and perceptions, which makes it difficult to be certain that anything she says or sees is reliable. It starts out to be a simple ghost story, but as the story unfolds it becomes obvious that the governess has jumps to conclusions and makes wild assumptions without proof and that the supposed ghosts are products of her mental instability which was brought on by her love of her employer

I'm against fidget spinners for lots of reasons there distracting and don't even help you. Most people say its educational thing but i disagree you more like a toys too me. I'm gonna have three main ideas why we shouldn't have fidget spinners or fidget things. I hope you change your mind.
In Hands-on Squishy Circuits, AnnMarie Thomas showed us how she took a home-made PLAY-DOH recipe and turned it into a science experiment. It’s amazing that three and four year old children play with something so revolutionary. We may not realize this now, but if we start introducing this stuff to these children, they’re going to become such intelligent adults. I ask myself this question everyday,”Do I want my child to be successful in life, or let them flip burgers at McDonalds?”. I want my child to be able to learn and succeed as they progress in life. This is extremely important for children these
Did you know that the real cost to make a fidget spinner is only $2 when some store owners are charging $20? Companies are turning this little toy into large profit by charging to much. When really all the toy does is spin. Children in school should not have fidget spinners because they are a waste of time and money, they are distracting, and some kids in school focus their attention on a toy rather than the task at hand.
Most parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, or anyone else would agree that soda is not the appropriate thing to give to your child for a drink. This advertisement preaches that not only does making a single choice make it acceptable but making the smarter choice is better. Would you want your kids getting all the bad things that they get from soda or would you want them drinking something like Kool-Aid that doesn’t have any carbonation, is high in vitamin C, and is guaranteed to make your child happy by just making the right choice and drinking Kool-Aid? This Kool-Aid ad explicitly sells Kool-Aid, but it implicitly sells a smarter choice between Kool-Aid and pop to parents of young children. If you were a parent would you want your child making
Few have not heard of fidget spinners, one of the latest crazes to sweep the nation. These momentum driven, ball bearing operated toys are designed to do exactly as the name suggests; provide an outlet for fidgeting by allowing the user to spin or even perform tricks with the handheld object. However, they have been the source of controversy. The majority of students view fidget spinners as the hottest new fad and see them as nothing more than a toy with which to play, even if this intrudes on classroom time. Because of this, many schools have banned fidget spinners, though not without protest. With around 6.4 million children in the United States being diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactive disorder, or ADHD, many have credited the recent popularity of fidget spinners to bringing awareness to the
Throughout the history of education there have been several questions as to how a school should conduct itself and who has the most say: the students, the parents, or the school board? In several arguments, debates, and even court cases it seems that these three factions of schools have disagreeing views with each other. For the most part, citizens can agree that students are the central subjects of a school, otherwise they would not exist. However, does that mean that the students have the right to choose what is taught or presented to them in school? As stated in the scenario, nine possibly offensive books were the subjects of complaining parents. The school board then removed the books, but the students sued the board for doing so based on the belief that the action was a hindrance to the right of free expression. In response, the school board stated that their actions were justifiable because they were doing their job by determining education policy. Therefore based on the readings

Buzzzzzzzzzz! Another cellphone is going off in the middle of class, causing her to blush and discreetly check her new text message. A virtual conversation is buzzing back and forth inside one classroom and into the classroom across the hall, having a discussion about the party that night or the lipstick color chosen at the mall. In another classroom, a student posts the answers to the English exams on her profile page, allowing all of her buddies to read and use for their time of the exam. There are multiple examples of students using their cell phones during class time to communicate their thoughts, images of their environment or dangerous crimes. In addition, the percentage of students with cellphones now soars to about 80% (Ban). This highly increases the chance for students to have a cell phones on them during school. Cell phones can also be harmful to students during class, taking them into another world of technology, separated from the classroom, and turning them down a road of decisions they never intended on doing. Overall, cell phones alter classroom learning in a negative way, and should be banned from use in the classroom at all schools.
