In the fictional play “Her Heart”. The author conducts an emotional play that tells a story of a woman with a broken heart. The depict transpired a plodding sequence brimful of emotional sensory detail. Throughout the story the author persuades the reader into thinking that the “woman” physically kills her husband. But, in reality she doesn’t. She mentally kills him by breaking his heart. Which led him into getting ran over by a moving vehicle. I personally am in awe about how the author structured this play. He/She compared this play and situation to real life incidents dealing with love/heartbreaks. Furthermore, the author contained a great suspense as to what really happened to the woman’s husband. The author uses a man to bring out the
O’Connor powerfully made the reader realize that having an epiphany opens up our mind to a clearer insight, and this was seen with the grandmother in “A Good Man is Hard to Find” and Mrs. Turpin in “Revelation.” Nonetheless, O’Connor also created characters that obtained a certain type of violence deep within their personality to show the importance of real life experiences within our society. These two short stories show a great amount of emotion and life lessons towards the reader, and O’Connor successfully conveyed her point while using her powerful Southern gothic writing technique.
The third section of the story returns the reader to the calm security, but then quickly sends the tone of the story into a frenzy. These constant tone changes show the reader how strong and resourceful the woman is, but it also shows us how she can be thrown into a panic easily. We come to have little confidence in the main character's ability to react well if a dangerous situation arises.

“Like a river flows so surely to the sea darling, so it goes some things are meant to be.” In literature there have been a copious amount of works that can be attributed to the theme of love and marriage. These works convey the thoughts and actions in which we as people handle every day, and are meant to depict how both love and marriage can effect one’s life. This theme is evident in both “The Storm” by Kate Chopin and “The Yellow Wallpaper” by Charlotte Gilman; both stories have the underlying theme of love and marriage, but are interpreted in different ways. Both in “The Storm” and in “The Yellow Wallpaper,” the women are the main focus of the story. In “The Storm” you have Calixta, a seemingly happy married woman who cheats on her husband with an “old-time infatuation” during a storm, and then proceeds to go about the rest of her day as if nothing has happened when her husband and son return. Then you have “The Yellow Wallpaper” where the narrator—who remains nameless—is basically kept prisoner in her own house by her husband and eventually is driven to the point of insanity.
We read “A story of an hour” written by Kate Chopin. It is about a young married woman, Louise Mallard, who has a heart condition and a shock can kill her immediately. Her sister, Josephine, was careful not to upset Louise that her husband, Brently Mallard, died in a train accident. Louise cried and went to her room. However, Louise felt happy even though the situation was tragic. In addition, she realized that she gained freedom from a depressing marriage and from her dominating husband. Brently opens the door at the end of the story, and Louise was surprised to her husband alive. She was shocked and died because of a heart attack. Ironically, the doctor declares “she had died of heart disease--of the joy that kills” (Chopin). In the movie we saw, it was different. Louise was kept in the house because Brently is afraid that she might die or because he is afraid that seeing the world could give her an idea to rebel against him. Brently showed her many pictures, including their picture in Paris, and she always begs him to take to the gardens of Paris but he always refuses. Louise was made dependent to his father and Brently to take care of her.

The story does end with him going to bed with this new strange wife, but also leads to a conclusion of rediscovery and renewal for the marriage.

Storytelling has been a common pastime for centuries. Over the years it has evolved into different styles containing different themes. Kate Chopin, a well-known author of the 20th century, wrote stories about the secrets in women’s lives that no one dared to speak of. Her work was not always appreciated and even considered scandalous, but it opened up a world that others were too afraid to touch. In Chopin’s story “The Storm,” a woman has an affair that causes an unlikely effect. The story’s two themes are portrayed greatly through an abundance of imagery and symbolism, along with the two main characters themselves.
In this story by Kate Chopin, the heart trouble is both a symbolic and physical malady that stands for her ambivalence towards her unhappiness and marriage conjoined inability to be free. The first thing we qauire in the book is that Louise is suffering from a heart problem;additionally we learn that her heart problem is also the reason why the announcement of the death of Brently seems so threatening now. It is also clear that an individual with a heart problem would certainly not deal with such terrible news. In any instance where Louise tries to go through the idea of her renewed independence, her heart races as the blood in her veins pumps to the extremes. As the story ends, Louise dies. The diagnosis of her heart disease looks appropriate to her disease but it seems even more appropriate since she experienced shock once she saw Brently. Surely, such shock is enough to drive her to her deathbed. It is however ironic that the doctor concludes that the main reason as to the death of Louiseis overwhelming joy. It is ironic because it is not joy that had led to her death but rather loss of joy, which had killed her. Louise had certainly died because of a broken heart that was caused by the idea of suddenly losing her much loved independence (Chopin, The Story of an Hour)
In the short piece of writing, “The Story of an Hour” by Kate Chopin, we observe a woman’s distraught and unstable manner after the death of her husband. As the story progresses, Louise drastically changes from crying out in agony to finding a glimmer of hope and realizing that the death of her husband will give her a newfound freedom which she was never able to realize had existed. The conclusion made by the doctors in the story is that Louise dies from being overjoyed of her husband’s unexpected return, but in fact she actually dies of her prospect of a new life being shattered.
Kerry Egan’s “Married to a Mystery Man” is a very interesting article. Egan begins her story with her very first terrifying memory as a newly wedded women. She explains how her “husband-of-a-day” had just told her that he had spent the night before their wedding in a jail. When I reached this particular part of the article, I realized that the author didn’t even have to express what she felt at that moment, because as a reader, I already had an idea of the terror she must have felt. This detail really emphasized on a point that I have always had in the back of my mind. Honestly, when do we ever know a person for who they truly are? I might know their habits, likes and dislikes and moods at the most, but do I really know who they are?
The husband is able to provide for his family with a position in an office, logically his intellect is not in question; his emotional stability has defiantly been affected. Therefore, this brings the author to rely on the husband’s perspective to divulge the fundamental components of the story using a third-person narration. For a year the husband thought that his wife had been kidnapped, yet he never checked her person effects to see if anything was missing. Only because the mother needed additional spices did the husband check for the jewelry that he advised that the wife stash in the top cabinet in case there was an intruder (1995, p. 587). Once the missing jeweler was discovered the husband knew that the wife then abandoned not only him, but also their the young son.

There are two women with similar pasts, and their story leads us into a splendid comedy driven romance. Olivia has a vow to forget about men. Viola is in love with the man who loves Olivia. It sounds like the perfect recipe for a controversial talk show, but it is not. This is a play by William Shakespeare entitled Twelfth Night. Olivia and Viola will be our subjects of focus. These two women raise questions about their psyche, and I intend to investigate. Viola is subtle, collective, and sincere, whereas Olivia is blatant, persistent, and shrewd. I will begin to look at the two people from a psychological perspective and paint a color portrait of each woman’s profile.
