In the world today, the idea/philosophies of Karl Marx still reigns true. It has stood against the test of time and has lasted all the way to our current society. Marx’s text is a study that shows the theorization of commodities and money. In his article he distinguishes between the different types of values. He also discusses that without workers, there is no capitalism. Marx explained many different ideas such as: labor value, exchange value, and the equations of capitalism. Marx explains how labor and money became commodities and how capitalists' profits from labor value.
Marx’s talks about the labor theory of value, he states that the value of a commodity is directly influenced and correlates to the amount of labor time that goes into the making of each commodity, he defines it simply as the time that goes into the making of each commodity. Marx says, “Some people might think that if the value of a commodity is determined by the quantity of labour spent on it, the more idle and unskilful the labourer, the more valuable would his commodity be, because more time would be required in the production”(pg.55). The “capitalist” should not diminish how much the worker actually does. There are many ways that relates to now because there are many workers who feel that they aren’t being paid or appreciated for the amount of hours that the individual is putting in. The workers feel that they are being abused by the capitalist, and that has lead to many workers going on strike so that they can get the money and the respect that they deserve.
