It is common to dismiss feminism as a bunch of cranky, spoiled, self-righteous women who aren’t satisfied with what they already have, however, I am going to show that feminists are just regular women and girls wanting to be equal. When people put down feminism as a bunch of cranky, spoiled, self-righteous women whose sexuality is questionable, they are refusing to see that we as women and girls just want to be equal. Feminism is much more than a bunch of crazy women who aren’t satisfied with what they already have, it is instead a movement that requires teamwork and strong will.

Knowing when to say something and knowing when to hold your tongue too is a highly important skill. Mostly because being a feminist comes with a lot of prejudice people, unrealistic stereotypes, and pre-judgments as well. One of the harsh judgments that feminists get is that they all hate men. In an article titled, “Feminists treat men badly. It’s bad for feminism.” by Cathy Young in The Washington Post Young stated that “Yet a lot of feminist rhetoric today does cross the line from attacks on sexism into attacks on men…” I won’t argue that there aren’t some bitter women out there that bash on men who claim to be feminist. The ultimate goal of feminism, however, is to make everyone equal, and on even playing fields. They don’t go out and purposely bash on men or make any one gender feel any less important. Being a feminist isn’t about go around and shaming anything and everything, Feminism is not just about equality, but about uplifting as many people as possible as well. As women we want us all to be equal and on even playing fields, but not at the expense of bringing others down. The basics of what women want are just equal rights, and to be treated just as equal too. Women are constantly being sexualized on a daily basis, but it has become so normal that people just expect us to want to be put on a pedestal and feel like objects. However, that is not the case.First, it has come to the point where we are taken for granted and used more as tangible beings than human beings. Then, women are still not in the same pay range as any other gender. Finally, our rights to our bodies to prevent pregnancy or control our menstrual flow is at stake because people feel as if it is their right to take away.
