Introduction
This essay is an annotated bibliography of two articles to inform the reader of the relevance, accuracy and quality of Family centered-care as perceived by children nurses and its practice within the hospital.
Family centered-care is a modern nursing care philosophy which evolves as a result of distressed, isolation and trauma experienced by hospitalised ill children and their family during their treatment. It underpins the international current practice of children nursing. Thus, Family centered-care involves establishing an effective and efficient relationship between the patient's and their families as an entity, and that of a nurse; it comprises children nurse's values, attitudes and approaches to medical facilities for children and their families (Anon, 2015).

Article2 is an academic writing about the importance of children nurse possesses a good and effective professional relationship with their patients and family. Two potential barriers to the Patient-Family Centered Care model are time and patient/family expectations. Nursing is a demanding job that is known for it's fast paced and often hectic environment. While caring for several patients at a time, it might be difficult to make time to discuss and involve patients and their family in all aspects of their care. This could lead to the patient/family feeling left out or even lead to fear about why information if being kept from them. To address this barrier I will set aside time to spend with each of my patients solely dedicated to discussion about the care they are receiving as well as provide an opportunity to voice questions and concerns.
Family health care nursing is defined as “the process of providing for health care needs of families that are within the scope of nursing practise and are concerned with the experience of the family over time, is considerate of community and cultural context of the group and is directed at families whose members are both healthy and ill. ”(). The principles of family health care assessment are that family health nursing is family focused and that a good working relationship with the family needs to be established. Nursing should focus on patient and family centered care, with nurses being the patient advocate for the care the patient receives. Patient and family centered care implies family participation. This type of care involves patients and their families in their health care treatments and decisions. I believe that it is important to incorporate this kind of care at Orange Regional Medical Center (ORMC) because it can ensure that we are meeting the patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs through their hospitalization.
Nursing interventions should encourage family members to participate as well as be the ones who care about their child most. Special attention is needed to pay for children who attend day-care facilities and follow-up care is necessary. Word count: 1674.
