Today I'm going to talk about the failure about the reconstruction in the south. There were issues in the reconstruction, reconstruction was set in the south to fix it but that didn't really happen it just made it worse. Reconstruction is when something has been destroyed and troops are sent to rebuild the destroyed land. The reconstruction era was in may 1865. The reconstruction plan lasted from January 1, 1863, to March 31, 1877 (14 years, 2 months and 30 days). reconstruction did have some good parts to it but all in all, it was a failure in solving the country's social, political and economic issues. The political crises in the U.S were bad but the reconstruction tried to fix it but it only made things worse. For example, Abraham Lincoln made 10% of GA pledge loyalty to the U.S but this would not stop the rest of the south because only the 10% that pledged loyalty to the U.S can’t do anything but what about the rest of the south they can still take action. Let’s talk about the redeemers first they were southern conservative Democrats sought to regain power, trying to save the south from the problems caused by the reconstruction, the KKK supported the redeemers & very soon states like ga were in control of southern democrats were in control yet again. Next, the Camilla riot was just horrible and horrific for the survivors the Camillia riot was when a group of African Americans were fired upon & chased down by the KKK as they led to the next town killing many and only 15 survived. Let's not forget about the KKK worst for the last am I right the KKK is a group of whites who used violence to maintain white control, keep African Americans exercising their civil rights, and to show African Americans whites still control them. there for the social aspect of the U.S was never really in a good
