Over 35% of the world population has asthma, that means they cannot inhale smoke. Smoking should be banned in public places because of many reasons; people’s health, the air that people breathe will be polluted and the food that is cooked wont be fresh. If smoking in public is not banned many people will stop visiting that place because they will feel uncomfortable. Majority of the people get annoyed from the smell of cigarettes.
Smoking in public places has a major effect on people’s health. When a person smokes in public places, they do not know the people around them; some might have asthma, lung problems or even heart problems. Smokers nowadays are not only harming themselves but harming the people surrounding them as well. If the people around the smoker have sensitive lungs they might suffer heart attacks, asthmatic attacks or similar medical

situations. Many people stopped visiting malls and closed areas and started visiting open air areas, such as; the park or the beach. In addition to that, entering a public place like a mall and glimpse a group of people smoking is not a delightful impression of the place. When smokers smoke in public places the air around them will be polluted from the smoke that is being exhaled. If the air gets polluted; people will start inhaling contaminated air. Also, the food that will be cooked in that area will also be poisonous because of the infected air that will be going around. Even though the smoker is not smoking close to the people they get disturbed in a dangerous way. That does not only affect the people around the smoker but the place he is smoking in is being effected too. The place that the smoker is smoking in is being effected by many ways, which is; people will not visit the place again for the reason that they are getting annoyed by the smell of cigarettes. Therefor, the stores and the restaurants will start to shut down. Smoking in public places should not necessarily be banned.
There is a solution to this problem which is having special booths specified for smokers only, so they can smoke without harming the people around them. People that smoke out of the restricted smoking areas will have to pay fines and that will force people to quit smoking in public places. By placing that rule people can go out and feel safe in public places. Also, that rule also helps the stores and restaurants by bringing more customers. Even though having specified booths for smokers in public places will help nonsmokers enjoy their time at the same place as the smoker. This is not a solution for the main problem which is reducing smoking, this will only make it easier on smokers to smoke. Having booths for smoking is not an affective way to ban smoking in public places, obviously the booth will have a door, when the door is opened for people to enter or exit the smoke and smell will eventually spread out surrounding the booth and the area around it, thus people who will pass by the smoking booth will inhale the contaminated air and this will affect
them. To conclude, smoking in public places should highly be prohibited. Peoples health is something that should be takin seriously and not tampered with. Smoking should be banned in all public places and having smoking booths will only help concentrate the smoke in one area which will lead to no progress in this situation.
Smoking has become a big epidemic in the United States. As a tobacco free person, I want to be able to breathe clean air anywhere I go. As we know, smoking can harm every organ in the body (Center for Disease Control and Prevention). I believe that smoking should be banned in public places such as drinking establishments, hospitals, buses, train stations, and restaurants. Not only does smoking affect the individual smoker, it also causes a number of health problems, increases death rate, and it affects not only the lives, but the health of other people around them. On the contrary, smoking should be banned in public areas for these reasons.
People throughout the time have been worried about some acts that people make; these acts are sometimes performed unconsciously or without realizing these are affecting they negatively affect others. Some reasons why this happens, they do not realize they are making someone uncomfortable, or they simply do not care about it. Smoking is one of these activities. For a long time, smoking in public places has been extremely popular regardless of age or gender. Many smokers believe they are free to smoke wherever and whenever they. Even if they realize the damage they are causing to themselves, which is a personal decision, when they smoke in public places they ignore the collective damage they are causing others. It has been claimed that despite not engaging in the activity themselves, “passive smokers suffer the same horrifying bad consequences as active smokers” in the form of second-hand smoke (Ecobichon & Wu, 1990, p. 43). Smoking is thus a dangerous activity that is becoming more and more popular in campus every day and is becoming a social and educational problem. Schools should ban smoking from their campus, and those that have should implement stricter methods of enforcing such rules.
Have you ever has a time that you has to cover your mouth and nose when you are in public because fearing that you might can get cancer from inhale toxic smoke by smoker ? Smoking is one major health problems in the world. This issue is getting more and more serious as we can see in public places where people are start smoking. Some people are not smoke because they want to live longer with healthier live. Some public smoker may think, all mankind are free to do everything they want, but they have to respect others’ life. Some people want in inhales fresh air, and clean air while they are in public places. Smoking should be banned in public places because smoking affect a healthy environment for nonsmokers, affect society for young people, and affect people’s health.
There needs to be a policy to ban cigarettes, it kills the smoker, in addition, could kill the person exposed to the smoke from cigarettes. “The cigarette is also a defective product, meaning not just dangerous but unreasonably dangerous, killing half its long-term users” (Proctor), cigarettes are not healthy in any way making it a defective product, it mainly kills the smoker rather than helping them. It was produced to be inhalable smoke harming anyone who smokes them making it a defect because in the past the tobacco was too harsh to be inhaled. The policy would help cigarette smokers, especially since they don’t even like the habit of smoking cigarettes, knowing it harms them.
Smoking cigarettes is a detrimental practice not only to the smoker, but also to everyone around the smoker. According to an article from the American Lung Association, “Health Effects” (n.d.), “Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in the U.S., causing over 438,000 deaths per year”. The umbrella term for tobacco use includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, e-cigs and chewing tobacco. While tobacco causes adverse health consequences, it also has been a unifying factor for change in public health. While the tobacco industries targets specific populations, public health specifically targets smokers, possible smokers, and the public to influence cessation, policies and education.
In current events, a huge issue among state and city lawmakers all over the country is the debate over whether or not smoking should be banned in public places. Many argue that allowing people to smoke in public places proposes serious health risks for innocent bystanders. Though the health risks are high, many still oppose the proposal of such laws. Business owners presiding over such establishments as bars and restaurants worry that the smoking bans will severely hurt their revenues if passed. While this is an understandable concern, the health of our communities citizens is much more important than the loss of a handful of customers for businesses.
Cigarette smoking is very harmful for both smoker, non- smokers and the environment. People who smoke in just show how inconsiderate they are towards others. Even the people who do not smoke in public places are selfish. They do not consider the affect smoking might have on them and how that will affect their family and the environment. Cigarettes cause hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths each year and that is why cigarettes need to be made illegal.
Several other methods for solving the problem of second-hand smoke have been suggested in the past. One method is to use air purifiers to clean the air. While this can remove some smoke particles from the air, even the most expensive air filtration system cannot remove all of the poisons and toxins put into the air by second hand smoke. Another solution would be to have separate rooms in which smoking is allowed, such as a lounge or parlor. This idea is also flawed, because for this to work, the rooms in which smoking is allowed would require entirely separate ventilation systems to accomplish the objective of protecting others (from the New York Times, 1/12/99, Public Smoking Ban: Alternatives?)
In my opinion, I think smoking in public isn’t good for non-smokers because if they breathe the smoke of smokers their health will be unhealthy a...
Many restaurant and bar owners think that the ban will decrease business, but a counter-argument to this is that only twenty percent of the city's population are smokers, and when the smoking ban is in place, the other eighty percent will go out to bars and restaurants, dramatically increasing business. There are many different opposing arguments to banning smoking, and the debate will probably never end. Smoking should be banned in public places because, although some may argue that it infringes on their freedom, smoking is replete with harmful substances. People should be able to frequent bars and restaurants without the fear of experiencing an asthma attack or developing lung disease. Everyone deserves the freedom to live and breathe without restriction.
Should cigarette smoking be banned for everyone in the United States? Why? Why not? Should those who chose their time smoking to relieve stress, personal enjoyment, or simply just because, have to lose their right to what makes them happy? Smoking tobacco products has been around for decades and in many different forms. Should personal rights be pushed aside to please those around us that disagree with the so called “disgusting habit”? In the paper The Washington Times an article caught my interest called”D.C. seeks bans on smoking in national parks” written by Steven Dinan. In this article he stated that “Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton wrote Park Service Regional Director Steve Whitesell saying she’s heard from constituents who fear breathing second-hand smoke while using national parks.”(Dinan, 2013) I don’t think they should. All throughout the world people do things that is not always agreed with in different cultures in communities but even religions. Some people believe eating red meat is a sin but should you take it away from those who enjoy it. We are living in the land of the free. Aren’t we? I am against the banning of tobacco products because not only is it a right as an American citizen to be able to smoke, it is a job for American citizens, and as long as smokers are knowledgeable about the product causes it should be a personal right to choose.
Every year tobacco is responsible for over 480,000 deaths. That includes people who have died from secondhand smoke. When statistics like this exist it is hard to understand why tobacco is still legal. This number increases every year that passes and most people believe it isn’t shrinking anytime soon. Tobacco should be banned because it’s deadly to not only the users, it’s highly addictive, and the tobacco industry is corrupting information promoting its harmful product. Society shouldn’t have to deal with anymore premature deaths due to a lethal legal product. We should work towards getting this useless product banned everywhere.
Have you ever been in your favorite restaurant and just as you are about to take a bite of your favorite dish, your lungs are filled with a cloud of smoke which has drifted to your table from the smoking section just a few feet away? This is a common complaint of many patrons who enjoy dining at restaurants. While it is true that the smoke from cigarettes causes many health problems, is it fair to take away the freedom of Americans who wish to smoke? Even as compromises can be made on this subject, the majority of people stand by their strong opinions on whether smoking should be allowed in restaurants.
Most controversial debate is going on public smoking ban. The reason is simple, smoking ban affects directly all people rapidly and we can see its effects in a short-term period. There have been a lot of arguments brought up both in favour and against a public smoking ban. Some of the arguments in favour are the following. Smoking ban is one of the controversial ways for reducing smoking and recognizing non-smokers’ right to health protection. The health risks of smoking are clear. Passive smoking does carry risks. Many leading medical and scientific organizations recognize second hand smoke as a cause of a range of life-threatening conditions. The health situation could be drastically improved if one of the risk factors - tobacco - was eliminated. People have a right to protect themselves from smoke inhalation. People shouldn’t have to inhale the ill-effects of other people’s smoking. The creation of smoke-free public places also improves air quality.
Scientists and health officials have been arguing the detrimental effects smoking has on our health for many years. Smoking can lead to serious complications including asthma, pancreas, lung and stomach cancer due to the large number of carcinogens (cancer causing chemicals) and other various substances added to it. It is a health hazard for both smokers and non-smokers and it is especially harmful to unborn babies. Although smokers claim that it helps them to relax and release stress, the negative aspects of the habit take over the positive. As it has been stressed by the scientists and experts, there are some very severe reasons of smoking but its crucial consequences should also be taken into consideration.
