WHY MEN SHOULD NOT (ALWAYS) PAY FOR DINNER
I used to be the kind of girl who always thought that guys should pay on dates. However, opinions, beliefs and point of views change. People also change and some situations are not the same as they used to be in the past. In my opinion is totally unfair for men to always pay the bill, it´s an old tradition like saying women need to stay at home cleaning the house and cooking for their husband.
Way before gender roles existed, men always offered to pay-pseudo voluntary psychology about cave people and rudimentary prehistoric barter system has further examined the reasoning. Utilizing fossilized pieces of tree bark, cavemen would showcase to cave ladies that, for the price of the food they hunted for them, they now have exclusive rights to engage in sexual activity

I am not saying that men could not offer in a gentle way to pay eventually the bill, but at some point we should take turns paying equally. Women want the same rights as men, but they don't want to be treated the same?
Many people will most certainly think that things should still stay the way they were in the past. Having men cover the bill every time making them feel they’re in control of the relationship because of it. But many women however will probably feel this is old fashion and having men pay the bill does not give them the right to this type of empowerment. On the contrary most women will not allow men to pay, instead they will pay their end every time.
Having people be more aware of the opinions both genders have now at days can help them make up their mind on this matter.
But certainly men should not always pay the bill, it should be divided between both parties. Everyone now at days wants equal right and privileges among men and women, and something as trivial as picking up the
“Men work primarily to feed and create an environment of comfort for their wife and family” (Crooks and Lankow). This age-old reasoning came into creation when women were house wives. The women would take care of everything inside the home and men would insure that there was security and indeed a house for the family to live in. “This is the commonly accepted role of the man within the social system and proves a formidable challenge that every man must accept” (Crooks and Lankow). If a man chooses to go against this and take the role of a house husband, he may be met with repugnance by other men in the community Truly, the need to provide is crippling to the progression of society.
Exhilarated screams and contagious laughter pierce the air. The squeaking and screeching of the rusty old gate travel throughout the playground, as I tower towards it. Sprinting down the crumbly old path, leading to the sand court. There are crowds and clusters of children everywhere. The wind twisting and gusting throughout the awkward side bangs and awful bob haircuts. Recess was by far the most exciting and adventurous part of my second-grade life. Spotting my best friend, Lydia, out of the mass of children, I frantically run up to her and ask her to play Newcomb with me. Newcomb was the best recess game to me, simply because it always had the cutest boys. Lydia immediately replies with complete agreement.
Under the Equal Pay Act of 1863, the gender wage gap supposedly no longer exists, but the facts are that “as of 2012 women in the U.S. earn 77 cents to a man's dollar” (ProQuest Staff). Men try to justify this unjust statistic by saying that “wage gap isn't necessarily the result of discrimination” (ProQuest Staff). Although, there is no logical reasoning behind it. When women are actually given the same jobs as men they may be paid the same but typically, they are not able to reach the higher positions in the company that men do. Even with their 77 cents to a man’s dollar, “women still tend to bear a larger responsibility for child care and other household matters within families” (Mazorelle). Women are not given the opportunity to earn as much as men and then they still have to take on a majority of the responsib...
More women now in the 21st century are being obligated to pay child support to their divorced husbands. According to Ken Altshuler, president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, "As more women achieve success on their career paths, they are also finding themselves increasingly responsible for financial obligations during and after the divorce process." (aaml.org) Woman were suppose to be created equally to men and even if it may include paying to support their children and losing custody of them in a civil divorce case. It may seem shocking to know that women as well as men pay child support but in some cases it is best for all parties to have it that way.
In addition to physical male dominance, economic superiority was displayed every time the male, whether it is the boyfriend in the intimate couple, or the father in the family, paid the bill, rather than the female. Throughout the one-hour-and-a-half observation, much data was collected and stored for further investigation. Gender roles and power/authority were the two sociological concepts observed and applied to the analysis of this particular study. The four forms of groups examined were intimate couples, friends, single people and families. The field observation was concerned with the comparison between these different groups' interactions.
Throughout history, women have always experienced sexism on different levels. For example, not being able to vote because of their gender. Most of these issues don't exist in the US or other countries anymore, except for the wage gap between men and women. Women get paid less than men do, especially if they both have the same job. Women should get equal pay because they can do the same jobs as men, they can get as good as an education as men, and it affects other people including a woman's family.
Gender inequality has proven to be a large obstacle in many aspects of women’s lives. America has made large progress over several decades, providing mostly equal pay, mostly equal rights, and mostly equal opportunities. However, in a first world society like America, mostly equal does not mean enough. Women and men are inherently different creatures, but does that mean that inequality will always exist in one way or another? Are there some forms of inequality that are acceptable? According to the Encyclopedia of Governance, “answers depend on the degree to which one thinks women's and men's capacities differ, what should be equalized, and by what means” (ENCYCLOPEDIA). One thing is certain though; there is still progress to be made towards true gender equality.
After paying one month and a halt of rent, both phone bills, and the electricity bill, we had to turn around scrape for food and the following months rent, not including our other bills. At first, it was too hard. We felt like ends were not meeting, so I had to find a job. So now the way it works at my house is we split the bills. My fiancée has the really big bills like the rent and the insurance payment while I have the light bill, both phone bills, cable, and the internet bill.
Someone has to do the work of rising children and reward for such important work should not be marginalization, suffer a loss of status, and be at an increase risk of poverty. It makes economic sense to equalize pay, especially since there are more women than men heading households and in the labor force. These women become the economic decision makers, if they receive their fair pay, it’s highly likely that those dollars will be going directly back into the
For many years in United States, equal salary pay for women has been a major issue that women have been fighting for decades. This began back in World War II, when the National Labor Board urged equalize the salary rates for women with the same rates that males were getting of the same professions. (Rowen) Although, traditionally most women do not work to provide for there family and there are not so many independent women during World War II. After World War II more women lost their jobs to veterans returning to the workforce. Women in the workforce after the war have been discriminated ever since. The idea of women as weak and cannot perform there jobs
From the beginning of history and to this day women still get paid less than the average man, but why? Whoever said that women are incapable of good work performance? Whoever said that women do not have the same responsibilities to maintain? What really makes a women’s work inferior to men? The answer is nothing. Today, women are depended on just as much as men, and are capable of performing at their level. However, a full-time working woman earns only seventy-seven cents for every dollar a man makes. These days women make up half the workplace in our society; they work just as hard and for the same reasons. Women deserve to be paid at an equal rate as men because they are relied on to uphold the same responsibilities and are just as qualified to perform at a man’s level.
Women Deserve the Same Rights as Men From the beginning of time, women have played a powerful role in the shaping of this world. They have stood by idly and watched as this country moved on without them, and yet they have demanded equal rights as the nation rolls along. Through the years, the common belief has been that women could not perform as well as men in anything, but over the years that belief has been proven wrong time and time again. So as time marches on, women have clawed and fought their way up the ladder to gain much needed equal respect from the opposite sex. However, after many years of pain and suffering, the battle for equal rights has not yet been won.
“Women need no protection that men do not need. What we need are laws to protect working people, to guarantee them fair pay, safe working conditions, protection against sickness and layoffs, and provision for dignified, comfortable retirement” (Equal Rights for Women, 1969). Shirley Chisholm, the writer of Equal Rights for Women clearly states how women need what men have and they do not need special privileges (Equal R...
People hear about this and how it was in Shakespeare’s time and even in other different cultures. Due to women earning rights, fighting hard for them and the change our society has taken, one that may take a while getting used to. It is hard to be equal with the man not only in the workplace but also in normal everyday life.
This is a pro women act because the idea that a man is supposed to pay for a date is unfair. Women are more than capable to pay for dates. I feel this happens a lot in our society. It is the norm and this continues the thought that women are less than men and need men to take care of them. I do not believe that I fit the description of a needy helpless women who needs a man....
