1. How do you strengthen your personal locus?
As one of the building blocks of media literacy, it is important to have a strong personal locus. This helps in developing a broader outlook on media overall. It also helps with providing a sense of direction when faced with different media outlets. Since your personal locus is your awareness of your goals and your drive to achieve those goals, the first step in strengthening it would be to closely analyze your goals. Think about what your short-term and long-term goals are, and why you have picked those as your goals. Once you have analyzed and identified your goals, think about where those goals came from. Who were you inspired by and why were you inspired by that person?
You should also have a willingness to expand your efforts and reach your goals. Understand how hard you are willing to work to achieve your goals. Then analyze if you generally pick easy goals that can be quickly reached or those that require hard work and some time to achieve. This will help you determine the quality of your goals.

The ones that meet our expectation usually require less of an engagement and are much easier to follow. When it is easier to follow, we continue our exposure to it. To strengthen our personal locus, we must expose ourselves to mediums that require more engagement than we are used to. By engaging in media messages and mediums that do not meet our expectations, we are putting in more mental effort to understand the message. Putting in more of a mental effort will lead to a stronger understanding of the media as well as your own personal goals. Challenging yourself when engaging with media messages will help develop a stronger personal
Determination, the strive to come out on top. The compulsion to reach your goal. For me, failure is not an option. Being adequate is not one either. You either have your game face on or you do not. There is no in between. My goal at the moment is to become a student at the Early College. From then on, I have multiple goals set up
The following illustrated essay will explain how the media affects ones beliefs and values towards relationships. It will explore the different media devices and how they individually affect on the perception of an individual.

Goals give you something to measure yourself against and give you direction. Currently, my main goal is to graduate from East Carolina University with a bachelor’s degree of science in engineering with a concentration in biomedical engineering. My anticipated time to graduation is five years with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Beyond getting my bachelor’s degree at East Carolina University, I would like to go to medical school and become a doctor focusing on prosthetics. In order to make my goals a reality, I will have to work diligently to remain on track throughout my schooling. Additional goals that I have set for myself are to complete homework assignments by the time they are due, reading assigned material before it is discussed in class, doing well in each of my courses this semester, successfully participating in extracurricular activities, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, getting a position as an engineer, and becoming a leader within both the engineering community and the general community. A world-class engineering student woul...

... From such things as struggling with your weight to larger things such as buying a house or getting the promotion you desire, taking an encompassing goal and breaking it down to smaller specific goals allows you to create a defined map that will promote your progress, one small step at a time, until your dreams have been achieved. Goal setting is key in motivation; goals need to be clear, sharp, and realistic. To make these feel more achievable it is better to break these down into smaller medium-term goals and medium-term goals into short-term goals so that you have a clear connection between what one does every day and their long-term goals.
Setting goals is the most important thing you can do in your life. Without goal's you are going to have no direction, no ambition to be successful, no drive to stay in school, and trouble finding a career that will provide for you. Without these three things, achieving your goals is going to be one of the toughest tasks in the years to come.

Accomplishing your aim or purpose can be the true definition of success. You must want to achieve your goals at hand. You must want to earn everything. You really should put in the effort needed to become a successful person. Becoming a successful person requires you to be an extraordinary character. This means you have to be a very self-disciplined, competent, and trustworthy person. That allows you to become more trusted within the community and earn more respect. Learning from your mistakes is essential to your success. Every time you fail you become more knowledgeable on a subject. You can fail as many times as you want but eventually you will learn what is right from wrong. This will lead to you to become open minded and achieve success. You will have to put in the time and effort. Planning ahead allows you to have a schedule so you won’t be behind. If you have a plethora of skills, you will have a higher chance of success than other people. Skills allow you to qualify for certain positions and allow you to excel in what you need to. You can have time to achieve your goals and predict what else you need to do. Success can come in many ways including family, money, fame, respect, and achieving your goals. There are many ways to achieve success but these are only a few ways. Only you can decide who you want to be and determine your own goals. You’re the only person who can judge your
Media system dependency is a theory that predicts people in society will use media for interpersonal needs and goals. It is researched as a system that allows people to meet these goals through sources of information found in different media forms (Loges & Ball-Rokeach, 1993). While media does help us understand who we are, and possibly what we may be becoming, it can also give us insight to the outside world. Media gives the consumer what is desired, and often that is the intense, hostile, and sometimes hopeless views of the world around us. For example, we watch the news and believe that a particular place isn’t safe because that is what media portrays. With all of these notions media gives us, and our dependency on media, it may be one big cycle of information that gets filtered and changed as the society and culture changes as well. Media dependency is also a concept and will continue to evolve as technology advances and new avenues of media consumption are explored.
The mass media has played a key role in shaping people’s lives. The modern society’s use of mass media including TV, radio, newspaper, as well as print media has largely influenced people’s ideas regarding themselves and the society at large. This is evident from their behavior towards themselves and their community as well as their treatment of the environment. While some experts believe that the media is to blame for most of the negative behavioral traits among the active members of society, the majority agree that the media makes people understand and develop a positive sense of association with their society within which they live, making it easy for them to identify and get their role in it.
Once you set your goal, you need to start getting more specific. It moves from a dream into reality. Make a plan, it must move from your mind to a piece of paper. Write down the things that you need to do. What do you want to achieve? What will be your life when you achieve your goal? Things that you need to be done. Things that you want to learn more about your goal. Qualities that you admire in others. Improves the qualities you have. Habits that you want to stop and habits that you want to improve.
Media has grown drastically over the last 100 years, and we have become accustomed to it being a part of our everyday lives. Media is such an influential part of our society that we forget that not all media is created equally. Media has become so widespread that we might be oblivious to the messages right in front of our faces. Media such as television, newspaper, radio, Internet, social media, and billboards have created an information epidemic that has the ability to influence a person’s thoughts and ideas. Media literacy is a tool that allows people to take information and evaluate it so they can form their own thoughts and ideas about the information presented to them. Media literacy allows people to decipher information that is opinionated,
There can be no success without goals or targets. This is because success is relative to a set target and whether we have achieved it, or at least making steady progress towards attaining it. For you to succeed, set a goal, a measurable target that represents what you envision: that is what you want or where you see yourself in future. A goal should be measurable so as to enable you to monitor your progress and help you know whether you are on track or you have gone off.
