Roanoke was the first English settlement in the New World, reigned over by Queen Elizabeth I, momentarily settled by Sir Humphrey Gilbert in 1582 and newly established by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1585. Having reached and settled Roanoke for about a year, Raleigh's settlers were thrashed and thrown about by a huge and horrible hurricane, the settlement wiped off clean. To hear of the failure of her first English settlement in North America, Queen Elizabeth I was enraged and demanded a reestablishment. At that moment, all of Europe had heard of the huge and horrible storm that had warded and killed many of the Roanoke settlers. Yet in 1587, John White, a palace painter, was persuaded to sail over seas to North America with 99 of his family and friends. John White focused most, if not all, his time in painting scenery and the new lands of North America in his newly settled Roanoke. Because White spent all of his time panting

Colorado is such a beautiful state. It brings in a lot of outsiders but not only for its beauty, but for its history as well. Travelers and tourists have been visiting Colorado since before the 19th century. However, during the 19th century, the development of Colorado boomed greatly because of its iconic people and the fact that so many travelers and tourists enjoyed seeing Colorado. The people contributed to making Colorado history more appealing to tourists so the state really emerged. Tourism has led Colorado to great lengths and still to this day, Colorado brings in many travelers and tourists.
Kentucky could just be the best place between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans to live. From "Happy Birthday" to Abraham Lincoln, Kentucky has made a great contribution to history. Montana today is place that is still very similar that of a hundred years ago. Ranching and farming out east, mining still goes on in Butte, fishing is big along the western rivers, and now there is a new boom, with oil and natural gas throughout the state. As John Steinbeck said, “I’m in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection. But with Montana it is love. And it’s difficult to analyze love when you’re in it.”
The state's fusion of southern hospitality and northern industriousness give it an appeal that is more than the sum of its history. It's the nexus where other states meet, but its own lush green heart remains untouched by the traffic snarls and enervating bustle of big cities. From West Virginia's rolling Appalachian hills to its busy college towns, opportunities for putting down deep roots in coal country abound.
I think that the history of Utah is really interesting. In the 1600’s Indians had come in the area. 224 years later Jim Bridger discovered the Great Salt Lake. After that in 1847 the Mormon pioneers came to Utah and only 3 years later it became part of the US territory. The next big event was in 1896 when Utah was voted the 45th state and in 1996 Utah celebrated its 100th birthday! Sadly in 1999 an immense tornado hit and caused over $100,000,000 worth of damage. It didn’t help that 3 years later the 2002 winter Olympics were in Utah.
The Sandy Spring museum was founded in 1980, in the city of Sandy Spring as its name indicates. Its main focus is the history of the city. The museum was interesting to me because of its size. The smaller a museum, the better it is in my opinion. I was in it and saw it with for myself: This museum was really small. An interesting fact about it was that the smallest exhibits were the ones I perceived as the most appealing, which is why, after seeing a couple of exhibits, I decided to talk about the Guano containers, the smallest exhibit in the entire museum.
The small and quaint village area was built in the early to mid-1990 and serves as the central gathering point for skiers, shoppers and vacationers. The area is mostly condominiums with a first floor of retail space, housing fine restaurants, coffee shops, and outdoor clothing stores. The best part of River Run Village is the active atmosphere that keeps the village moving. Skiers love River Run because you can walk to the ski slopes at Keystone Resort within just a few minutes from anywhere in the village.
The Kansas History Museum was very interesting, it had many displays were you could see what some of the things looked like. It was full of facts about famous trails, indians, trains, settlers and many other things. I learned that the toys some of the kids
